1.
Responsibility; Teachers Riikka Vitikka, Hanna Seppälä
Principal; Mirja Pere,
Vice-principal; Sampsa Vuorio
Goal: Learning by doing and clarifying
(problem – Idea – Innovation – Commission – Normal Use)
Issues to be discussed and taught by the teacher at the classroom:
Comparison and annual usage of different electrical devices
How to save energy by changing behavior or by innovations
What is a low energy house
How to use renewable energy sources more effectively
How to affect on energy saving at home
What energy saving tips the pupils can find
23. Pihkapuisto; Action Plan for M19 – M26
2.
Establishment of an energy club/work group in the classroom
To research what is the standby consumption of devices
How to reduce the standby consumption
The day without electricity at the school
Lighting team (rules of operations, what is unnecessary use of lighting)
Design the own energy house by pupils
Implementation by a pilot model scale
Supervision of the energy consumption at the school pilots by the ICT system,
displays and reports will be explained to the pupils
Energy audit of the classroom made by pupils
Useful links and energy blog on the web pages of the school
International co-operation with other schools around Europe
More media publicity required (suggested by parents)
24. Preliminary exploitation plan of city of Helsinki
Item Objective Schedule
1 Better benefits of the regular energy audit of buildings, more Immediately
of them, implementing the proposals suggested !
2 The use of EC-motors for HVAC systems Gradually
3 The use of new sensor based lighting systems Gradually
4 Better use of Living Lab methodology, from speeches to Immediately
doings, listening carefully, teaching, learning new way of
thinking, goal oriented commitment to work; Savings by User
behavior transformation
5 Saving by regrouping, rescheduling and time programming Gradually
the large groups of lights (at entrance halls)
6 Tuning better and properly the building management & Immediately
automation systems (BM&AS)
7 Better benefits by using the local BM&AS to monitor also the Gradually
consumption of electricity
8 Further building electricity and automation training to janitors Immediately
25. Preliminary exploitation plan of Metropolia UAS
Item Objective Schedule
1 Better energy efficiency at Metropolia’s own buildings and Immediately
campus areas
2 Update of every study plan (new courses, measuring Immediately
devices, laboratory exercises, new learning, understanding,
commitment); Certification of energy efficiency should be a
citizen’s skills
3 The students should be committed with CDIO –project works Immediately
to make energy evaluations and audits everywhere in
Helsinki (industry, private and public buildings, hotels,
restaurants, sport/concert halls, supermarkets, shopping
centers, hospitals, schools, kindergartens, housing for
ageing people, …). Networking with several municipal depts.
and companies started !
4 Continuously increasing interest found from our neighboring Immediately
cities and communities; Espoo and Vantaa; Co-operative
discussions already started with many of them!
5 Interaction and co-operation within several study fields at Immediately
Metropolia (electricity – automation – ICT – Building
Technology – Food technology - Welfare and social field)
