The document describes a software radio platform using a wideband IF sampled architecture being developed by researchers at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics. The platform can be reconfigured through software for multiple air interfaces and technologies. It uses an IF sampled architecture where modulation is done digitally rather than in the analog domain as with traditional radios. A prototype has been developed including a 16-channel multi-carrier transmitter with a 1-2500MHz RF bandwidth that can generate signals like GSM/EDGE through a DSP unit and digital upconverters. The goal is to design and implement this scalable software radio platform.
