Many times in conversation I hear people say “the world is doomed”, “the world
is in chaos”, “Technology is taking our jobs”, “the aliens are coming!”

What we see in our media and the world around us - wars, famine, crime,
inequality, corruption - is not irreversible, in fact, we have the capacity to change
the world. I believe humanity is destined for greatness. Each and every one of us
is AMAZING. And the only thing holding us back from AMAZING is FEAR.
WE ARE NOT BORN WITH A SENSE OF FEAR.
ON THE CONTRARY,
WE ARE BORN WITH
AN ENDLESS
CAPACITY FOR LOVE
AND CREATIVITY AND
OPTIMISM.
BUT WE ARE ALSO BORN
WITH A SURVIVAL
INSTINCT.
THIS INSTINCT HELPS KEEP US SAFE. HELPS US LEARN AND GROW.
AND AS WE GROW, WE LEARN HOW TO SPEAK.
WHAT TO SAY.
WE LEARN MANNERS.
WE LEARN HOW TO DRESS.
BUT WE ALSO LEARN NOT TO SAY CERTAIN THINGS.
NOT to behave in certain ways.
NOT TO BE SEEN IN CERTAIN PLACES.
NOT TO STAND OUT (UNLESS OF COURSE STANDING OUT, MAKES YOU LOOK COOL).
WE LEARN TO CONFORM TO OUR ‘GROUP’. TO FIT IN. TO
BE SUBSERVIENT. TO BLEND....IN ORDER TO SURVIVE.
WE START TO DEVELOP A
FEAR OF LOOKING WEAK.
FEAR OF SOUNDING DUMB.
FEAR OF MAKING MISTAKES.
FEAR OF FAILURE. FEAR OF
NOT FITTING IN. FEAR OF
STANDING OUT. THE
PRESSURE TO BE “RIGHT” OR
FEAR OF BEING WRONG!
SO, FEAR IS SOMETHING THAT WE LEARN.
FEAR MANIFESTS ITSELF IN WAYS WE MIGHT NOT DIRECTLY ATTRIBUTE TO FEAR!
FEAR IS INHIBITION. FEAR IS A PRISON. FEAR HOLDS US BACK.

OUR WORLD IS GOVERNED BY FEAR BASED SYSTEMS. GOVERNMENT, RELIGION, COMMERCE.
THESE SYSTEMS (OR AT LEAST THE WAY THEY HAVE WORKED THROUGHOUT THE AGES) SEEK TO
KEEP PEOPLE LIVING IN FEAR - FEAR OF OTHERS, FEAR OF LIVING IN POVERTY, FEAR OF

CAN KEEP PEOPLE DISTRACTED AND DIVIDED.

MOST COMPANIES GET CAUGHT UP IN "STAGE 3" BEHAVIORS BECAUSE THAT'S HOW OUR
EDUCATION SYSTEM IS STRUCTURED, WITH A FOCUS ON INDIVIDUAL ACHIEVEMENT. THE

Overcoming Fear

  • 1. Many times in conversation I hear people say “the world is doomed”, “the world is in chaos”, “Technology is taking our jobs”, “the aliens are coming!” ! What we see in our media and the world around us - wars, famine, crime, inequality, corruption - is not irreversible, in fact, we have the capacity to change the world. I believe humanity is destined for greatness. Each and every one of us is AMAZING. And the only thing holding us back from AMAZING is FEAR.
  • 2. WE ARE NOT BORN WITH A SENSE OF FEAR.
  • 3. ON THE CONTRARY, WE ARE BORN WITH AN ENDLESS CAPACITY FOR LOVE AND CREATIVITY AND OPTIMISM.

  • 14. WE LEARN TO CONFORM TO OUR ‘GROUP’. TO FIT IN. TO BE SUBSERVIENT. TO BLEND....IN ORDER TO SURVIVE.
