Turbot aquaculture in Rias Baixas involves extracting seawater, cleaning it, and adding oxygen before using it to raise turbots from egg to maturity. Turbots are bred and their eggs are hatched in tanks for the first month and a half. They are then moved to grow-out tanks where they are fed until reaching 3kg, at which point they are ready for sale. The water is returned to the sea in clean condition after use.
