 Usually 6in in diameter
 Thick or thin
 Decorated in many ways
 Forms: Vessels, whistles, sculptural forms, pinch pot
animals, etc

4. Physics!
 “An action will produce an equal and opposite
reaction”
 Clay will move away from pressure
 How pressure is applied affects how clay responds

5. Pinching Tips
 Work in a spiral from bottom to top
 Use tip of thumb (interior) and support outside with
other hand
 Can leave minor cracks for texture
 BUT! Deep cracks must be welded IMMEDIATELY
 Trim or untrimmed rims
 Smoothed or burnished
