1. NOVEMBER 5 2010
W E E K L Y U P D A T E
Dear Parents,
This week students did plenty of reflecting about their learning as they finalized the
preparation of their portfolios to take home, along with their learning updates. They are in
the process of setting goals and we’ll discuss these in further detail during the 3-way
learning reviews. Please, do not complete the reflection sheets that are currently in
the portfolio - we will be doing this together on November 19 or 22. Invitations for the
3-way learning review will be sent today. It is an expectation that you and your child attend
together; if you are unable to meet on the 19th or 22nd, please contact me and we can
make alternative arrangements. You can read further about the conferences here. Please
remember to return the portfolios when you come to the conference.
Please spend some quality time having a constructive conversation about your child’s
learning, areas in which they can improve and areas in which they are meeting the grade
level expectations. This is a great opportunity to empower our children to take ownership
over their own learning and to help them grow into lifelong learners.
Please refer here for a note on a change to the Winter Performances.
Swimming will begin on Thursday and will last for four weeks. During this time, students
will swim on Thursdays, from 8.00 - 9.20. Please be sure they come to school with the
appropriate swimming gear. They will need to change into their uniforms afterwards.
Students will continue to have their Monday PE session as normal.
Thanks to all of you who attended the Grade 5 Art Exhibit in the LLAC!
Please note: Sunday, November 7 is the Family Fun Fair.
