2. David desired to build a Nathan
temple for the Lord.
God told Nathan the pro-
phet that it was not to be.
2
3. 2 Samuel 7:17 According
to all these Words, and
according to all this Vision, so did Nathan speak
unto David. 18 Then went king David in, and sat
before the LORD, and he said, Who am I, O Lord
GOD? and what is my house, that Thou hast
brought me hitherto? humility

4. Do you ever sit and think in amazement of all that
God has done in your life?
From where He has brought you unto where
you are now?
This is a good report, worthy to think upon.
David took no credit for his success;
He gave all the credit to his Heavenly Father.

5. When the Savior reached down for me
When He reached way down for me
I was lost and undone, without God or His Son
When He reached down His hand for me
This is what God has done for me;
He has done it for you if you are saved;
And He will do it for anyone who will call on
Him in the Name of His Son, Jesus Christ.
5
6. (David continues) 19And this was yet a small thing
in Thy sight, O Lord GOD; but Thou hast spoken
also of thy servant's house for a great while to
come. And is this the manner of man, O Lord
GOD? 20 And what can David say more unto thee?
for Thou, Lord GOD, knowest thy servant.
David was amazed at not only what God had
done, but at what He had promised to do.

7. Ephesians 3 19-21 And to know the love of Christ,
which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled
with all the fullness of God. Now unto Him that is
able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we
ask or think, according to the Power that worketh
in us, Unto Him be glory in the church by Christ
Jesus throughout all ages, world without end.
Amen. To know the Love of Christ is the best.
Nothing we can ask or think
is too great for God --
If it will bring glory to His church. 7
8. Those who receive grace for grace from Christ's
fullness, may be said to be filled with the fullness
of God. Should not this satisfy man? Must he needs
fill himself with a thousand trifles, fancying
thereby to complete his happiness?
Matthew Henry Concise Bible Commentary.
How could anyone be not happy living in the
Grace and Love of God?
There is nothing as great and wonderful as to
be in fellowship with The God of the Universe.

9. 21 For Thy Word's sake, and according to Thine
Own heart, hast Thou done all these great things, to
make thy servant know them. 22 Wherefore Thou
art great, O LORD God: for there is none like
Thee, neither is there any God beside thee,
according to all that we have heard with our ears.
Not only for our insignificant and temporary
benefit does God do great things,
But for His Word’s Sake and His Own heart.
9
10. It’s not about me, it’s not about you;
It’s about the Holy Father, Spirit, and Son,
Separate People, but together are One.
Galatians 2:20 (KJV) I am crucified with Christ:
nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in
me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live
by the faith of the Son of God, Who loved me, and
gave Himself for me.

11. 23 And what one nation in the earth is like thy
people, even like Israel, whom God went to redeem
for a people to Himself, and to make Him a Name,
and to do for You great things and terrible, for Thy
land, before Thy people, which Thou redeemedst to
thee from Egypt, from the nations and their gods?
David acknowledged that God had done great
things, not only for him but for the nation.
11
12. 24 For Thou hast confirmed to Thyself Thy people
Israel to be a people unto Thee forever: and Thou,
LORD, art become their God. 25 And now, O
LORD God, the Word that Thou hast spoken
concerning Thy servant, and concerning his house,
establish it forever, and do as Thou hast said.
This is the prayer of an humble and obedient
servant – “Your Will be done.”
We know that God’s Will is always good, and
acceptable, and perfect.
12
13. 26 And let Thy Name be magnified forever, saying,
The LORD of hosts is the God over Israel: and let
the house of Thy servant David be established
before thee. 27 For thou, O LORD of hosts, God of
Israel, hast revealed to Thy servant, saying, I will
build thee an house: therefore hath Thy servant
found in his heart to pray this prayer unto Thee.
True prayer comes from the heart.
13
14. 28 And now, O Lord GOD, Thou art that God, and
Thy Words be true, and Thou hast promised this
goodness unto Thy servant: 29 Therefore now let it
please Thee to bless the house of Thy servant, that
it may continue forever before Thee: for Thou, O
Lord GOD, hast spoken it: and with Thy Blessing
let the house of Thy servant be blessed forever.
David wanted all his blessings to come from
the True and Living God – and no other.
14
15. Seemingly good things obtained any way other
than the blessings of God
Will not be proven good in the long run.
Any success gained by the wisdom of man will
not be a blessing to our lives.
Wealth gained by the wisdom of this world will
become a curse to us.
We choose blessing or we choose to be
cursed by the way we live our lives.
Deut. 30:19
15
16. This prayer that David prayed to the Lord God
teaches us the qualities of godly prayer.
He was humble before the Lord.
There was nothing that would indicate that he
thought he deserved God’s blessings.
He knew they were the gift of God.
16
17. David offered up thanksgiving for
blessing he had received already.
And he gave thanks for anticipated
blessings which God had promised.
He acknowledged that God’s Word is true, by
giving thanks in advance for God’s Promises.
We won’t give thanks and
grumble at the same time.
17
18. And he prayed as Jesus taught us to pray,
“Thy Will be done.”
Never fear to pray that God’s Will be done.
God’s Will is always good,
acceptable, and perfect.
