2. This design focuses a lot on bold, striking images, the font itself is graphic like, as
though it would appear on a video game, which I really like, as it gives across a
current contemporary vibe. I have them placed a large striking half moon so that I
curves around the text, bringing the whole design together. The half moon then
links into my title of ‘lunar’, thus consolidating the theme.
I really like the boldness and simplicity of this design as its very distinctive and eye-
catching to the viewer, also the half moon can immediately be associated with the
title and so makes the brand stronger.
This is my favourite design, as it is very bold, would appeal to both genders and
overall looks the most striking, which is vital to capture an audiences attention.
3. Within this design I experimented with a thinner font, as this contrasts
well with the boldness of the half moon curved around the end of the
title. I really like the font in the way that its quite jagged as this makes
it very intriguing to the eye.
Again connections can be made with the title and the half moon
shape, which will help to make the brand more memorable in the
minds of readers.
However I don’t think I will use this design, as although the thin font
adds a stylish vibe and is gender neutral, I don’t think it would be
striking enough from a distance.
4. Within this design I experimented a lot more with colour. Choosing to use a
bright pattern over my lettering. I feel as though this immediately adds more
interest to the title, and would appeal to both genders, as its not one colour
stereotypically associated with males or females.
It does give across quite a contemporary youthful vibe, although my target
audience is toward teenagers/young adults so this is very appropriate and will
attract my desired audience.
I also chose to use italic-like font, as its very visually appealing, although this
does make it a lot less striking to the eye. Therefore I will not be using this
design, as I need a masthead which is striking and jumps off of the page.
This design I feel would be more suited toward a clothing range, rather than a
magazine.
