Abstract
Highlights will be brought up on issues such as neutrality, safety and accountability
of Internet, with case studies on the functioning of DNS directory, Visa country
codes directory, the SWIFT system, the recognition of Electronic Certification
Authorities. The current digital world is in search of a profound transformation, on
the way to evolve from a heterogeneous communications network towards the
Web of Things. Directories are at the heart of internet governance. Future
directories will arise as m to n matrix.
How will the Internet of the Future look like? The answer can be drawn up,
although not fully revealed, through a few case studies: the Directories of the
future, the Amortization of the financial value of virtual objects, Use value versus
Patrimonial value, Intellectual property of Objects, Evolution of ICANN, Use of
electronic passports and signatures in an anonymous digital world.
A solution is presented as a possible fp7 project : Virtual Pantheon

Bad news : we are in the middle of a triple war
- Geographical war
- Technological war : digital age against industrial age
- industrial, petrol based civilization is dying
- digital, energy-based civilization is arising
- War against ourselves
- for the first time in history, actual generation is in
danger of living shorter and age in worse conditions than our
ancestors
- social security and health systems will collapse
even in the most advanced economies

Positionning
The other continents are moving, trying to reposition themselves
(economist picture), in order to achieve Leadership for the next
50 years.
Europe has to choose between ACTING and REPOSITIONING
NOW and win peacefully, imposing the civilization model for the
next age or STAY PASSIVE, acting in the wrong direction and
loose, having to follow other models.

We, Europeans, are celebrating today 2000 years from
Pax Romana
We , Europeans, have created the tools to achieve peaceful
leadership and prosperity by education and technological
advantage

- educate young generation “Sportacus Lazy Town style"
- public research is a major tool and, of course, FP7
“Network of the Future" is the most visionary, geekest and
coolest one :)
- peaceful and fruitful collaboration with other continents
: Eurolatis (latin america), India, China, Africa at R&D and
reconstruction level

- Network of the future is a major R7d and infrastructure
challenge, it's the equivalent of the paved roads built during the
roman empire

the digital era ?
