2. Facilities
Dining
The Dining Hall at YMCA Camp Falcona is designed to comfortably
accommodate up to a maximum of 100 people. Healthy and nutritious meals
are served family “sit down” style and all meals are prepared in our well
equipped kitchen facility. Our kitchen staff can also accommodate most food
allergies and vegetarian alternatives are always available.
Please Note: YMCA Camp Falcona is a nut free facility and renters will be expected to adhere to this
guideline.
Cabins
YMCA Camp Falcona offers renters a choice of 6 rustic duplex camper
cabins, each able sleep between 8-10 guests for a maximum sleeping
capacity of 100. All cabins are open concept with electrical outlets, lights
fixtures and baseboard heating for those chilly spring and fall nights. For
bedding, all cabins have a mixture of single bed and bunk beds with 36’
by 72’ mattresses. Don’t forget your sleeping bag because bedding is not
included!
Program Space
Don’t let the weather bring you down! Rain or shine, YMCA Camp
Falcona has you covered with our ample indoor program space. You
can enjoy a game of cards while enjoying a cup of coffee in the Dining
Hall. The young ones can express their creativity and artistic talents in
our Arts and Crafts workshop. Why not curl up by the fireplace and
enjoy a talent show in our 70-year old lodge complete with a stage and
500 square feet of open floor space. When the sun does shine, our large
sports field, volleyball court, basketball net and climbing wall are
available for endless gaming possibilities.
Washroom/Shower Facilities
Our large centralized washroom facility will give your rustic camp experience a taste of home. Forget
about outhouses, our washroom facility offers 5 separate flush toilet stalls, 5 sets of showers and 3 hand-
washing sinks on both the male and female side. A washer and dryer are also available for laundry in a
separate section of our washroom facility. YMCA Camp Falcona also has limited accommodation
available with en suite washroom facilities.
Waterfront
YMCA Camp Falcona is nestled on the eastern shore of Nelson Lake which offers
shelter from the wind during the day and beautiful sunsets in the evening. Our
natural sand beach is excellent for sandcastle building or just laying around on a
hot afternoon.
3. Programs & Site Logistics
Our waterfront features an enclosed, guarded swim area as well as a number of
floating accessories for your aquatic enjoyment. You can practice your ‘cannon
balls’ on our diving tower, scale the peak of our inflatable aquatic climbing wall,
or work on your vertical leap on one of our two water trampolines and attached
accessories.
In addition to our waterfront accessories, we also maintain a fleet of 12 canoes
and 27 kayaks for you to explore the shores of Nelson Lake. Our large camp
transport, dubbed ‘Falcon III’ is also available for sunset cruises around the lake.

Land Activities
YMCA Camp Falcona offers a variety of land based program activities to help
you pass your time during your stay. You can test your vertical limits on our
climbing wall, enjoy our well maintained hiking trails, or test your aim on the
archery range. At the end of the day, sing some songs by the campfire pit and rest your muscles with a
nice hot sauna.
Site Logistics
Power: YMCA Camp Falcona is off of the electrical grid so all of our power is produced by our 35kw
generator. The generator typically operates from 6am to 11pm, however consideration can be made for
potential renters who wish to have the power on for the entire duration of
their stay.
Telephone & Internet: YMCA Camp Falcona utilizes a satellite
connection for both telephone and internet services. Both services are
available to renters at no extra cost. There is very limited cellular telephone
reception on site.
Water: Water from all sources at camp is safe for consumption in
accordance with Ontario regulations (O. Reg. 170). Our water is filtered for particulate matter, treated
with UV rays for bacterial matter and chlorinated for distribution to all taps on site. Our drinking water
is also tested daily.
Road Access: YMCA Camp Falcona’s main access is by road. (From Hanmer, take Desmarais Rd,
which becomes Nelson Lake Rd. The YMCA Camp Falcona access road is clearly marked 5km down
Nelson Lake Rd. *detailed directions on back side of this pamphlet*). In consideration of the condition
of our access road, we suggest that renters traveling to YMCA Camp Falcona ensure they have adequate
clearance on their vehicle. Unfortunately, no RVs or trailers are permitted on Camp Falcona property.
First Aid: There will always be a first-aid certified staff member on site at all times. Our site can be
accessed by land or air ambulance for emergencies.

What to Bring! Directions to Camp Falcona:
-Sleeping Bag
-Pillow From Sudbury:
-Swimsuit Take HWY 69 North out of Sudbury until the town
-Hat of Val Terese (20 min). At the Pizza Hut, veer left
-Runners onto RR 96 (Desmarais Rd.). Take Demarais Rd
-Sandals (even as it turns to gravel) and stay left onto Nel-
-Towels son Lake Rd. Take Nelson Lake Rd. (5km) and
-Bug Spray & Suncreen turn right on Camp Falcona rd (you will see the
-PJ’s signs!). Take this road for 5.5km until you get to
-Water Bottle the camp!
