• Research is being pursued since
1970s.
• Most efforts directed towards
enhancing energy efficiency in air-
conditioned buildings.
• Some efforts have been made to
conserve energy in the industrial and
power sectors.

Kuwait National Energy Center –
Strategic Energy Programs
Main objective is to reduce the growth in the
demand of primary energy for electricity
generation and water production
To achieve the set objective, two strategic energy
programs were established to look at both the supply
side and demand side:

•The Energy Efficient Technologies (EET) program
•The Innovative and Renewable Energy (IRE)
program

EET Research Laboratories
1. Environmental chambers for walls and roof sections
2. Fenestration laboratory
3. Heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC)
laboratory
– Performance rating of A/C systems
– Thermal energy storage systems
– Thermal comfort, indoor air quality and air filtration
4. Lighting and day-lighting laboratory
5. Computer laboratory for simulation and modeling

 Integrated Demand Side Management and
Photovoltaic Systems for Schools in Kuwait
(Funded by MoE)
 Design of a Sustainable Traditional Kuwaiti
