1. How does the card appeal to its audience?
The card uses bright colours which will appeal to the audience that the food will be made
for. The colours make the card look appealing to children, which will therefore be
appealing to the parents of these children who the card is initially aimed at. The foods that
are used in these cards are appealing to the audience also as parents who are looking for
food to cook for party food for their children will be attracted to these foods and the cards
themselves.
What is the best aspect of the fonts used?
The font that is used for the title is very appropriate for the children that the food is aimed
at. Everything on these cards will attract parents because they will think that this is what
their children will like and enjoy.
What areas of font use could be improved?
I think that the areas of font that could be improved is the font on the right hand side of
the cards because I think that the spaced out, thin white lines are hard to read on certain
background colours; such as the yellow.
Is the copy clear and easy to read?
It is written well and easy to read except for what I have mention above about the font,
and I think this could be improved by making the font more bold so that it is easier to read
on some colours.
Are there any errors?
There are some spelling mistakes and gramatical errors on some of the cards in the copy
sections. I think that the work just needs reading over and correcting, as they are only
minor mistakes. (I’ll help you with them cause im cute hehe lol.)
What is the best aspect of the images used?
The best aspect of the images used is that they were taken by Maddie herself, and they
are not sourced images. The images are all edited well and are clear and in focus. Also, the
main item that is in the image is big and clear which is good because it draws your
attention to the thing that you will actually be making.
What areas of the images could be improved?
I do not think that the images could be improved as they are simple and fit their purpose
well. The only thing that could make them better would be to get rid of some of things n
the images that re not needed, such as surfaces in the background or shadows from items.
What is the best aspect of the layout used?
I like the shape that is used for the top and bottom banners of the cards; they are
interesting and eye catching. This is a good thing because they will again; attract the
target audience for this reason.
What areas of the layout could be improved?
I think that the right side of the recipe cards could be improved. They seem to be quite
clumpy and in blocks, I would like it if the card layout was a bit smoother, maybe have all
of the information in one box or change the colours of the boxes, it seems to much of a
contrast.
Do the cards work as a set?
The cards all work very well as a set because they are all identical just with changes to
where they are needed.
What changes could be made to improve the cards?
I think that the font used on the right side needs to be changed so that people are able to
read it more easily.
2. Do you feel it meets the brief? If so why/why not?
I think the cards fit the brief very well because they are a set of cards that work as a set,
they use measurements that are asked of them and they are for a vegetarian diet. They
also show unique and interesting designs that are perfect for the target audience.
Do the cards make the recipe appealing?
The colours used in the cards and the pictures used, make you want to make the recipe
and eat the food, so yes, it makes the recipe more appealing that seeing it just written
down somewhere.
Do the cards look professional? If so why/why not?
The cards look professional because they all match perfectly and are created to fit the
brief and look creative and interesting. I can see these cards being used as part of a set
and being sold to people.
Do you feel this work is better or worse than your own and why?
I think that this work is better suited for its audience than mine because of the colours,
the design etc. However, I think in terms of readability that my work is better because of
the fonts etc.
