Brief Introduction

The earth receives more energy from the sun in one hour than the power
requirement of the world for the whole year. Solar energy is free, renewable, clean
and sustainable. We know how to harness it and we know where to use it best.

Solar power is likely to be the most valuable of the renewable energy sources

This process involves placing collectors and panels in places where the sun will
reach for the longest number of hours per day such as the roof. The process of
converting what is collected into energy is known as photovoltaic.

energy you require means more solar panels and higher cost of installation. The

cost of the system.

A photovoltaic commercial system can cost between $8000 to $10000 per 1kW.
This equates to $8 to $10 per Watt. An average American household with 3
bedrooms requires at least 1.5kW to as much as 3kW. Thus, installation can cost
from $14000 to $30000, before rebates and tax credits.

But these initial costs can be reduced dramatically by implementing the system
yourself. The cost of a home-made photovoltaic system ranges from $800 up to
$1.400 per 1kW. This equates to roughly $0.80 to $1.40 per Watt.

This constitutes a huge advantage over the commercially made solar panels. And
as an additional bonus, you get to start your project with just one or two solar
panels, and continue to add more units as your resources allow.

The cost of a single solar panel may range from $100 to $200. Again, these are
rough estimates just to give you an idea of the cost of installing solar energy
systems. They do not represent real figures.
