confrontar, integrar y resolver diversos contenidos y referencias proyectuales.
EDL workshops are essentially creative spaces lasting one or two weeks, in
which eminent professionals from the design world, sometimes backed by
European companies and/or organizations, put forward different subjects for
projects, provide tutoring and follow up on the work performed by the students
during the workshop. The purpose is to enable students to experiment with new
creative and methodological tools, allowing them to tackle, integrate and resolve
a wide range of project subject-matter and reference points. All this enables them
to assimilate an array of different project typologies and models, which can then
be transferred to their own graduation projects.

The Cultural Observatory is a programme of conferences and talks given by
prominent figures within contemporary European society. The purpose of the
programme is to gorge students on culture to help them to construct a theoretical
framework within which to contextualize their graduation projects. The students
attend the keynote addresses and take part in private debates with the speakers.

conocimientos, experiencias y herramientas creativas y metodológicas

they’ve managed to build up over the course. Each student will shape their own
individual subject, which will eventually take the form of a specific and suitably

EDL provides the necessary environment and conditions for students to be able
to research, develop, creatively synthesize and communicate their ideas. They will
receive ample support over the course through tutorials, periodic presentations
and feedback sessions.

is that, during the time spent sleeping used to restore the body’s physical and psychological
functions, users can “live” parallel words, with the ability to decide “what, where and about who”
they want to dream. It allows users to retrieve the childhood ability to live fantasies as if they were
reality, through dreaming, thus reaching an altered state of consciousness without resorting to
drug or hallucinogens. By enhancing the stimulation of the senses, the system will bring about
relaxation in users, so that once they have entered rEM (rapid Eye Movement) sleep, they will
begin to have control over their dreams, in other words, they will become “oneironauts”.
BIOgrAPHy
Arturo Ely Rodríguez was born in Mexico in 1982. An architect and designer, he wrote the thesis
“Alchemy: Generation of Art-Object through Geometric Transformations to Natural Elements” to
obtain his degree in Architecture in 2007. He graduated with a Mention. His first contact with
the working world came about when he was still a student and was carried out at the company
Brossmarq, which is devoted to stage design and set-up. At the company, he had the opportunity
to learn different techniques and trades, which resulted in him making his own designs for home
accessories. He later developed furniture lines, which came to be sold in interior design and
decoration shops. After finishing additional studies and participating in seminars related to
rehabilitation and the use of architectural space, he has been independently working on interior
design and remodelling. His work has included everything from houses or doctor’s offices to roof
gardens. His work for the company POINTS in Mexico City and his ongoing contact with the world
of European design led him to take part in the European Design Labs. Arturo has exhibited his
designs at two of the main trade shows in Mexico: Habitat Expo (WTC Mexico City 2004) and Expo
