2. Avengance
Avengance is a thriller which was produced with a small budget and was
a small production in general. In this case I would expect a smaller
distribution company to distribute my film. More than likely an
independent and quite local distributer. As we don’t have the funding
for big advertising, it would probably get showcased at littler and more
local theatres. The thriller would appeal to these companies as it
would give them new and cheap opportunities, providing them with a
wider span of audience. As this is also a British film, and made
independently, it would perfectly fit their appeal.
3. Entertainment Film Distributors – is one of the leading independent film
distributors in the UK, owning multiple video production companies, currently ran by Nigel
Green. It was founded in 1978 with its first success coming under the movie ‘Teen Wolf’
ion 1985. The company has won 38 Oscars overall, showing great success with previous
awards due to their films covering a lot of genres, from the ‘American Hustle’, ‘Final
Destination’ and ‘Sex and the City’.
I would expect this company to distribute my film as they’re independent from the UK and
distribute in theatrical, DVD rentals and retail fields. This gives us a wide span of
opportunity. Also as their genres spread pretty evenly this will be a good addition to their
distributions. As we have little funding, it could be shown in smaller theatres, the
distribution company allows this and works in the theatrical side of the distribution which is
suitable for my film.
4. American Hustle has won
49 awards and nominated
for 87. This includes ‘Best
Picture of the Year’ and
‘Best Achievement in
Directing’ which proves
great success.
Final Destination has
received the award for
‘Best Horror’ and also ‘Best
Cinematography in Theatre
Features’
The Inbetweeners movie
received ‘Best Comedy’ and
the ‘Best British Film’ this
shows variety in genres and
the success off them.
5. Kaleidoscope– is one of the fastest growing independent film distribution company in the
UK. Based in Soho, London. They distribute feature films, special events and documentaries.
They support independent films and filmmakers. A lot of films included are in the genre of
Thriller. They were set up in 2008, and self funded, but increasingly growing aiming for 10-12
feature films per year.
On the 21st of January Kaleidoscope announced they have received a big investment from
Schneider Media Investments (SMI) This is a big investment in the business creating new
opportunities for the business. These are a couple of films distributed by this company.
6. Kaleidoscope– This company attracted me as they inspire to work with up and coming
independent film makers. This gives me a big opportunity to make the film more popular by
being distributed by this company. Also as this company is on its growth, it will be a good stable
link for future projects. They help in funding the film and giving filmmakers distribution rights.
They’re distributing films in the same genre as my film so this would attract interest and also
will provide me experienced help in the genre and also the international market with the help
of this company.
