2. What´s HIGH JUMP?
In the high jump event, athletes sprint
down a runway towards a four meter
long horizontal bar and jump vertically
over the bar on to a cushioned mattress.
4. Examples of HIGH JUMP
There are various methods of jumping over the bar but
the most common is known as the ‘Fosbury Flop’. It does
not matter what method of jumping over the bar is
chosen, all contestants are required to take off using one
foot.

an American ex athlete
specialized in high
jump, who was the
champion at the 1968
Mexico Olympics and
became famous for
using a new technique
to jump over the
bar, which was
subsequently applied
and all jumpers know it
as Fosbury Flop.
Dick Fosbury improved the
High Jump because it was more
difficult some years ago.
6. Rules of High Jump.
-After three failed jumps a contestant is eliminated from
the competition.
-Jump over the bar.
- If doing a run through, you cannot touch any body part
over the "invisible barrier" of the bar.
-Don’t take off on two feet.
-If an athlete has other events they have 15 minutes to do
them, and then they must return to jump
