We drive through the mountains to get to the typical and folkloric town of Paucartambo where we will visit the festival of the virgin Carmen. We will see the principal entrance at 4 p.m. and observe 16 types of dances. There will be dancing in the square and we will feel the euphoria of the festivity. We will visit the cathedral. Later in the night we will continue to Tres Cruces where we will set up camp.<br />JUNGLE TRAVEL DAY 2 VIEWPOINT SUNRISE OF TRES CRUCES– PILCOPATA<br />On this day we get up at 4:00 am to observe the highest point and beautiful sunrise giving us the opportunity to see and take photographs of each stage of the sunrise. After our breakfast we continue travelling to reach the entrance to Manu National Park. From here we will continue into the Cloud Forest and to San Pedro where we will walk for about 1 hour to observe the National bird of Peru, the Cock of the Rock and many different kinds of monkeys, plants and flowers. We arrive at Pilcopata in the evening where we will sleep in a local lodge.<br /> <br />DAY 3 PILCOPATA- PALOTOA CAMPSITES<br />After breakfast we will continue by private bus to Atalaya. On the way we will stop to observe a coca plantation. We will also stop at a viewpoint where you can look out over the surrounding expanse of jungle and rivers. From Atalaya we take a motorized boat to Aguas Calientes, where you can bathe in the natural hot springs before continuing to Palotoa campsite, In the afternoon we will walk in the jungle for several hours to learn about and appreciate the many different kinds of animals, birds, plants and flowers. If we are lucky we will see monkeys. In the evening we will return to the platforms at the campsite for dinner and sleep in our tents close to the Alto Madre de Dios River.<br /> <br />JUNGLE TRAVEL DAY 4 PALOTOA CAMP SITE – SALVACION LAKE<br />Before lunch we will walk in the jungle for several hours and see different animals, birds such as tiger heron, eagle, flycatcher, kingfisher etc. and many different kinds of plants and flowers. We will then take the boat to Soga de Oro. In the afternoon we will visit Salvacion Lake where we will take a balsa raft to see the pre-historic Hoatzin bird, watch the beautiful sunset and after dark we will look for Caimans. In the evening we will build a bonfire, relax and have some drinks and a BBQ. We will spend the night at Soga de Oro, sleeping on platforms in our tents (optional).<br /> <br />DAY 5 SALVACION LAKE CAPMPING – CUSCO<br />After Breakfast we will return to Atalaya by boat where our private bus will be waiting to take us back to Cusco. We return to Cusco via the cloud forest and Paucartambo.
