Parts of
                               the eye

• Our sense organ of sight
are the eyes. We can see
  light, shapes, colour with
  our eyes.
• They are very delicate.
  Our eyebrows, eyelashes,
  eyelids and tears (keep
  them moist)all protect our
  eyes.
THE EYE

eyelashes

   pupil

    cornea

                          retina
             iris
The parts of the eye
• The cornea covers the front of the eye. It is
  transparent.
• The iris is the coloured part of the eye (brown, green,
blue,…) It controls the amount of light that enters the
  eye.
• The pupil is in the centre of the iris. It is a hole and
light passes through the pupil to the inside of the eye.
• The retina is at the back of the eye. It catches the
light that passes through the pupil.
The organ of tough is the
skin.It is located all over the
body because our whole body
is covered with skin.
 We can feel different things
with our skin: if the object is
rough or smooth, cold or
hot,…
Some parts of the body are Braille alphabet
more sensitive than others.
The most sensitive parts are
the cheeks, the palms of the
hands and the soles of the
feet.
• The ears are the organ for
    hearing. We hear and distinguish
    different types of sound: high,
low, soft or loud,…We also know
    what direction a sound comes
    from.
• The ear is divided into 3 parts:
    - outer ear

    - middle ear

    - inner ear
                                       Outer ear inner
                                                   middle
The parts of the ear
• The pinna (earflap) receives the sounds.
• The ear canal carries the sounds into the inside of the ear.
• The ear drum vibrates when the sounds arrive.

• The small bones pass these vibrations onto the cochlea in the
  inner ear.

• The cochlea is the part of the ear where the sounds arrive. Then
the sound sensations are carried along the auditory nerve.
The sense organ of smell is
inside our nose. We can
distinguish lots of different
smells: minty, spicy, floral,…

The nostrils are the holes
where the air enters.

The olfactory region is inside
the nose. This area recognises
smells.
• The tongue is the organ of
taste. There are taste buds on
the surface of the tongue, they
    give us information on different
    flavours.
• The sense of taste lets us
    detect many different flavours:
    sweet, salty, sour and bitter.
