This crazy task is the perfect excuse for students to share ideas and get organized... in English, of course. Which group will be the best 'egg-safety engineers'?
2. Protect your Egg mcromeroriera@gmail.com
Level: All levels
Materials: Two ballons, a ball of string, two sheets of A4 paper, a roll of tape
and a raw egg.
Aim: Group cooperation
Procedure:
1. Group your students in small groups.
2. Each group is given the aforementioned materials.
3. Using only the material provided, they must figure out how to
drop the egg onto the floor.
3. Protect your Egg mcromeroriera@gmail.com
4. They must drop the egg with an extended arm while standing on
a chair. To do so, they can protect the egg any way they want. The
only thing they cannot do is lower the egg with the string!
Notes:
• They must of course only speak English.
• This activity is a great way to lead into a discussion on teamwork and
problem solving skills. They are constantly having to listen and give
instructions.
• You can also have them act like a reserach team that need to name their
product and create a team name pushing the team spirit thing.
• Hold up a red card if you listen to any other language different to English!
