Editing Process of Old Images All of the following images will be displayed in the photo album consisting of images of the couple before they were torn apart by death. This will contrast well with the unhealthy state that the widow is in during the majority of the music video.
As you can see, I have opened the background image onto Photoshop, where we have changed the saturation of the image, making it look sharper then usual, as it was previously quite blurry. This can then fit in well with the image of Fabien and Kalifa that will be placed on top and will be displayed within the photo album. As you can see, I have managed to edit the image by erasing the background (magic eraser and manual eraser) and have placed this into Photoshop. I have then added a drop shadow on to the image so that it stands out and creates a bit of depth, making the image seem like it was taken with that specific background.
Above is the background that I had taken of a class room, and the lighting was really good, so I thought that it would be best to incorporate this within the actual photo album. I had then edited the image of Kalifa, whom plays the widow, and deleted any remnant of white pixels and imported the image into Photoshop. Once again I had added a drop shadow, but changed the opacity as Rachel suggested, as the image doesn’t suit that background if the shadow is too prominent.
As you can see from the print screens, Rachel and I weren’t sure as to what background to choose from, as we wanted to make sure that it looked realistic, so we passed through many images and finally chose the image above as it looked more realistic. When looking at the one in the corner, we felt that I zoomed into the image too much and Rachel saw that the grass looked too big so we didn’t use this shot. However, the one below on the left, we found that the model seemed too big in proportion to the background, so we didn’t use this either. Instead we imported the image into the plain grass background above and added a small drop shadow once again.
We used the same technique once again as Rachel edited the long shot and close up of the couple by using the eraser tool on Photo shop. Occasionally, she did use the cloning tool to make sure that the hair looked neat and never had any white from the back drop in the photography studio. She did this by selecting the hair and pressing alt, where she then covered the areas of white. We then added a drop shadow to both images and placed them into the two different backdrops. We wanted to make sure that we used different clothes and different venues as we could then exhibit the different memories that the couple had together before they were torn apart by death.
