1997 Peter Calthorpe, John Fergonessi and Envision Utah , Ted Knowlton became the gold standard model for Scenario Planning across the United States. Out side organization still ask Utah staff to come and talk to them about scenario planning We are set to do this again with our next plan set for adoption in June of 2015.We may develop scenarios around a low, medium, and high density growth assumptions using tools like Envision Tomorrow + in partnership with John Fregonese and associates, ESRI the U of U and many other partners with our HUD sustainability communities grant
Then our board of director’s (mayor and county commissions) adopt the Official Socioeconomic data set – City/TAZ population and Job projections though 2040. Blobs/centersThis is the WC2040 Vision Plan.The result of this exercise the “WC2040 Vision” is used as the official population and employment projections down to the TAZ zone remember? With the 2040 vision plan we then “build” the RTP (Transportation system) to serve the WC 2040 Vision.
