Introduction Student Page Title Introduction Task Process Evaluation Conclusion Credits [ Teacher Page ] The United States is arguably the most powerful nation on earth and extends its control all over the globe.  US foreign policy towards Venezuela has resulted in tenuous relations between the two powers.  This webquest will explore the history of international relations between the two nations : economically, politically, culturally, and linguistically.
The Task Student Page Introduction Task Process Evaluation Conclusion Credits [ Teacher Page ] The White House Consensus versus Chavez’s socialist democracy in Venezuela.  You will become an expert on the most vociferous debates between the two world leaders of north and south America.  Your task will be to figure out why these two leaders cannot get along.  You will be doing all of your research through internet articles in both English and Spanish from a variety of news sources so you can develop your own theory of why these two countries can’t get along.  Once you have completed all ten of the assigned readings your group must also search for a minimum of 4 additional sources to further back up your opinions.  For every additional source you have in English, you must have one in Spanish.  After generating your opinions of why these two countries cannot get along, write a one page summary in Spanish expressing your views.  Then write a one page analysis in English of how the United States can help quell the heated debate in order for both countries to become better neighbors. Title

Some are going to be pro-Chavez, others are going to adhere to the rigid beliefs of the White House Consensus.  It is going to be your job to decifer the real issues and report the real truth between the two countries.  Below are a list of links to the ten articles you are required to read.  Grab your Spanish-english dictionary and lets solve this international debate.

What you decide is the problem and subsequently, the resolution is open for debate.  Many scholars still debate the best way  to resolve these issues. This project can be modified for beginner to intermediate level speakers if the instructor provides students with difficult translations. Learners will need to know basic understanding of sentence structure in Spanish as well as a good grasp of verb conjugation is most tenses.
