stimuli into meaningful and coherent picture
of the world.

perception for same stimuli.

 To better understand how people make
attributions about events.
 We don’t see reality. We interpret what we
see and call it reality.
 The attribution process guides our behavior,
regardless of the truth of the attribution.

FACTORS INFLUENCING PERCEPTION
There are mainly two factors influencing perceptual
mechanism.
1.EXTERNEL FACTOR

EXTERNAL FACTOR

Shortcuts in judging others
 Selective Perception :
People selectively interpret what they see on the basis of their interests,
background, experience and attitudes.
 Halo Effect :
Drawing a general impressions about an individual on the basis of a single
charecteristics.

 Contrast Effect :
Evaluation of a person’s characteristics that are effected by comparisons
with other people recently encountered who rank higher or lower on the
same characteristics.
 Projection :
Attributing one's own characteristics to other people.
