2 SME step by step guide to
development - demonstration
Presented iTAFE Webmix on Symbaloo .
Demonstrated the slideshare presentation for Phase 1.
Concern raised regarding Union saying that teachers cannot
teach subjects that they don’t hold the qualification for. Some
new courses nobody has qual – impact for project??
Action:
Need clear definition to comply – for iTAFE courses
Advice from Gary Sewell - the ruling is teachers must hold
evidence of equivalence for each unit. WfD’s advice is though
if you are holding the evidence you should go one step
further and get the qual
3 Training & Assessment
Strategy
Small group formed TAS Working Party – Scott, Bernice, Michelle,
Lois
Action:
Could we link to direct page in ‘training.gov’
In TAS for Children’s Services – 13 pages at the moment – could
add Appendix – could investigate electronic solution
As the audience for a TAS is our staff, links and appendices
may be used.
Working party has met and updated TAS template will be
provided asap.

4 Student process for
enrolment
Roll book – concern over rolling over – LMBR kick in and should
work better. Idea is we can drop and drag student @ enrolment
Action:
Louise to get an update
Enrolment process will be determined for our project but in
the meantime, rolling enrolments should be mentioned in the
TAS. Lois will update this in template.
Kevin has put a process document together for learner
enrolment experience. This is on the iTAFE webmix that
Nichole has shared with you.
5 Rubric, SAG & Learning Plan Comments:
Rubric may need to be switched to landscape - Reformat
document section break for
Suggested ways of providing evidence use a variety of methods –
learner negotiate with mentor and sign off on SAG.
Employability Skills – how do we assess remotely?
Electronic signature – or tick a box to accept SAG
In rubric first column tasks – only critical
How do they get feedback?
Struggle with Rubric format for assessments that require 100%
mark – Gary worked with Michelle McKay
An electronic SAG will be produced in the future but at the
moment, paper-based to be used.
Additional discussions will be undertaken during development
as to how SAG etc will be implemented.
Employability skills assessed the same way as in classroom.
What about images, video, recorded web conference to aid
the process?
Graded rubric to be altered to described the levels eg C, C
with Credit, C with distinction
Admin tiles are green and free tasters will be orange.
Due to imperative for first 5 tasks of project to be completed
by 30 June, all rubric must be ready for validation day.

What makes a person a WN
Learner analytics – around Symbaloo- can catch learners if they
stop logging into Symbaloo triggers the mentor etc to act follow
up with learner
iTAFE – confidentiality/plagarism/privacy – discussion that TAFE
protocols pretty good we will use these
Admin tiles are ‘Green’
Communicating new tools – concern that the mentor and head
teacher get a student who firstly needs to be navigated around
how to use Symbaloo rather than getting straight in to course
No the learner can be directed to tasters, free offerings, set up
free account – should be familiar before enrolment
Action:

6 Design Template Comments:
ABC documentaries e.g. Aged Care Lesley mentioned that there
are a number of documentaries that have been aired that are
fantastic resources
Action:
Investigate - can we access these for our courses? Could even
chunk documentaries to support different course elements?
Partners – resources have we investigated partners yes we do
have good networks
Issue with work placement and iTAFE – how will it work, how can
we assess particularly international students,
Action: Louise will work out how to address this issue
Residentials/ask learner to nominate
As TAFE pay an educational licencing fee to Screenrights
Australia this means that any program broadcast on free-to-
air or pay tv can be copied for education and learning
purposes. So if this program is currently on iview then it can
be copied (in digital or dvd format) and saved for use in the
future. The program can also be added to a LMS (or Moodle)
if it is protected by passwords and only available to current
students.
So to ensure that the program is available for future use:
• If the program can be copied directly from the ABC’s
website, then that is no problem to save then add to
Moodle for course content.
• If you wish to purchase a DVD of the program, this can
be done via Enhance TV. From this DVD you could
format-shift the program to a digital format that could
be used on Moodle.
• However, if you purchase a published version of a
program (eg from the ABC shop) then you cannot
copy this or format shift the program as the published
version falls into other categories of the Copyright
Act.
Residentials will be addressed at a later time.

9 Questions & Close BLOGGER – some say not invited to blogger
Action:
Louise to send email out asking who not got invitation then to be
re-sent
Note – blogger is the preferred tool as works well in Symbaloo
Many concerned about funding – payments – ability to allocate
hours
Some are overwhelmed
Most excited about tools
Request access to each other for networking
All now invited to Blogger, please log on and check posts for
project research update. Please also contribute and add your
own discussion posts.
Lois Asher, Justine Bessell and Kevin Bryan will work with
SMEs so that feeling of overwhelmed should subside Please
be involved with the learning group, participate in the
communication and support set up for you and ask
questions or put hand up for help when you need to.
Please don’t use iTAFE at the moment until it is launched by
Phil Cox. You may however get learners to use SymbalooEDU.
Please record all names of learners who use the environment
as we will be required to report.
