The fun commences with a Kids Fun Run 1K at 8:30 a.m. and the 5K walk/run begins at 9:00 a.m.
Children across the country add to the legacy every year of Alex. This is just one of hundreds of
stories that Jay could have shared.
Many of our lives have been touched by cancer in some way. We may know someone or have heard a
story that has been etched into our minds. Though the knowledge of anyone's illness can be
potentially devastating, none may be as traumatic as when a life-threatening illness touches the life
of a child.
We had the chance to catch up with Downtime founder Jay Harren and ask him a few questions
about his impactful creation. Meet the man who started the movement.
I'm grateful I can send my kids one weekend in October to a sibling camp in South Carolina, Camp
New Horizons, for bereaved siblings. I help them gather mementos of their brother to share with the
others at the camp. I thank God they have the friendships of children their ages, who know what it is
like to say good-bye to a brother or sister.
As a personal example, I decided at the ripe old age of 44 to study the martial arts. Since then, I
have earned a 2nd degree black belt and won trophies in national karate tournaments. On a
professional level, I decided to start my own business at the age of 47!
Emmaus Farmers' Market open on Sundays from 10 am to 2 pm, rain or shine, every Sunday until
November 20. The Emmaus Farmers' Market is located in the parking lot of KNBT (Keystone
Nazareth Bank & Trust), 235 Main Street, Emmaus.
Susi never met Mariah. She hasn't met the Klein family. But their story has inspired her to begin the
Arizona chapter of Riah's Rainbow, which started in Green Bay, Wisconsin, Mariah's home. Her goal
is to bring some comfort to as many pediatric cancer patients as she can. Once the donations for
Phoenix Children's Hospital are consistent, she will expand to Cardon Children's Medical Center in
Mesa, which also has a pediatric cancer center.
Dover International Speedway opened in 1969 and has a capacity of 135,000 people. It is a concrete
surface with a circuit length of 1 mile. The banking in turns is 24 degrees and 9 degrees in the
straights. NASCAR fans that are unable to make it to the race can still get an infield seat by tuning
in to the exclusive NASCAR programming in high-definition on Direct TV or listening to Sirius
NASCAR on SIRIUS Satellite Radio.
So dear children, grow up. Please. Grow up knowing life is a gift. Some children don't have it for
long, so take your gift seriously and make the most of it.
