Rizal saw a beautiful island.

assurance.
It was installed on Jubilee
Day on 27th day of June 1887.

Dr. Jose Rizal left for Europe on board the French
Steamer;
17. On May 17, 1882:
Djemnah reached ;
Galle is a major
city of Ceylon
(Sri Lanka).
Rizal wrote;
“The general
appearance of Point
Galle is picturesque
but lonely and quiet
and at the same time
sad.”
18. On May 18, 1882:

Rizal wrote;
“Colombo is
more beautiful,
smart and elegant
than Singapore,
Point Galle, and
Manila.”

Rizal discovered
that Aden is hotter
than Manila, but
was amazed by the
existence of Camels.

“Rizal was impressed
on the beautiful
moonlight that

in Egypt, connecting the Mediterranean Sea and
the Red Sea.
Opened in November 17, 1869. After 10 years of
construction work, it allows transportation by
water between Europe and
Asia without navigation around Africa.
When first built, the canal was 164 km long and
8 m deep. After multiple enlargements, the canal
is 193.30 km long, 24 m deep and 205 m wide as
of 2010.”
It took five(5) days for Djemnah to
traverse the canal.

engineer) developer of the Suez
Canal, which joined the
Mediterranean and Red Seas in
1869, and substantially reduced

33. On June 16, 1882:
Rizal finally reached his destination;

place was ugly, with
dirty little inns, and
inhospitable
residents.”
