Intertrigo is a rash that develops in skin folds due to heat, moisture, and friction. It causes burning, itching, redness, inflammation, oozing and cracked skin in areas like the armpits and groin. Intertrigo is diagnosed based on appearance of a red rash in intertriginous zones. It occurs where skin rubs together or in moist areas that prevent sweat evaporation. Treatment involves keeping the skin dry, exposed to air, and separated using powders or cloths. Recurrence is common for this chronic condition.
