- Trichomonas vaginalis is a protozoa. Note its flagellae which it uses to swim.Treatment is with one course of antibiotics (Metronidazole) and you would then be cured completely (unless you catch it again – hence it’s important to get the partner checked too).Women are more commonly affected than men.
