Functions
Transportation
Blood carries food, water, oxygen, and other materials
through your circulatory system to your body’s cells
and tissues
Elimination
Blood carries away waste materials – just as garbage
trucks haul away trash.
Major Parts
Blood
White Blood Cells
Red Blood Cells
Platelets
Active Platelets
Major Parts (continued)
 The Major is the heart. An Average humans heartbeats

about 70 to 75 times per minute. The heart has 4
chambers. The two upper chambers are called the atria
and the two lower chambers are called the ventricles.
Blood enters into the upper two and releases Blood
From the lower two.
Interactions with other systems
 Respiratory system transport oxygen to your body’s

cells, transports nutrients from the Digestive system
and hormones from the Endocrine system the Nervous
system regulates your heartbeat.
Role in maintaining homeostasis
 The circulatory system closely connects with the other

body system. When oxygen enters your body, the
respiratory system interacts with the circulatory
system and transports oxygen to your body cells. It also
transfer nutrients to the digestive system and
hormones from the endocrine system. When Your
heart beats the nervous system regulates.
Health/Diseases
 Some of the health diseases are heart attacks , strokes ,

And Heart Failures. A heart attack happens when a
part of a heart muscle dies or is damaged. Most heart
attacks happen when a vessel is blocked. A strokes
happens when a part of a brain dies or is damaged. A
stroke might occur if a blood clot blocks a blood vessel
in the brain. Heat failure occurs when the heart isn’t
working efficiently. It can result from previous heart
attacks or strokes. Some of these diseases cannot be
avoided. It Can be inherited by parents some of these
can be avoided by eating healthy , not smoking , and
exercising.
FAQs
 What is a heart?
 You heart is a muscle. It sits between your lungs,

behind your ribcage for protection. Your heart is about
the same size and shape of your own fist. Your heart
pumps blood to the lungs and the body through
arteries and gets blood back from the body and the
lungs through veins.
 What is a blood clot?
 Gelatinous or semisolid mass of coagulated blood
Fun Facts
 Is like a network of roads, your blood cells are like







vehicles that travel on the roads, that are like the veins
When you have hemophilia, but the bleedings does
not stop as quickly
Everyday your heart creates enough energy to drive a
truck for 2o miles
Your heart can keep beating even if it is separated from
your body because it has its own electrical impulse
Owning a cat can reduce the risk of heart attacks and
strokes by more than a third, researchers found
Fun facts (continued)
 Your heartbeat changes and mimics the music you

listen to
