Academic Argument Essay Example
Crafting an essay on the topic of "Academic Argument Essay Example" presents a unique set of
challenges that may not be immediately apparent. To begin with, the task requires a
comprehensive understanding of the academic argumentative structure. This involves not only
grasping the intricacies of constructing a compelling introduction, body paragraphs, and
conclusion but also mastering the art of seamlessly integrating evidence and analysis.
Furthermore, the writer must delve into the specific nuances of the topic at hand, deciphering
the key arguments, counterarguments, and supporting evidence. This necessitates thorough
research and critical thinking to ensure that the essay is not only informative but also
demonstrates a keen awareness of the broader academic discourse surrounding the subject.
Another hurdle lies in striking the right balance between being assertive and objective. An
effective academic argument essay should present a clear thesis while acknowledging opposing
viewpoints and addressing them with well-reasoned counterarguments. This requires a delicate
touch to avoid coming across as dogmatic or dismissive of alternative perspectives.
Moreover, the challenge extends to maintaining a coherent and logical flow throughout the
essay. Transitioning seamlessly between paragraphs, integrating quotes and data, and ensuring
that each argument builds upon the previous one can be a complex task.
Lastly, the writer must adhere to the conventions of academic writing, including proper citation
and referencing, adherence to a specific citation style, and an overall polished presentation.
In conclusion, crafting an essay on the topic of "Academic Argument Essay Example" demands
a combination of research skills, critical thinking, and a nuanced understanding of the subject
matter. It is a task that requires careful planning, meticulous execution, and a commitment to
presenting a well-supported, persuasive argument.

A Brief Note On Security Tactics Adoption And A Security...
IV.CRITICAL ANALYSIS
Ryoo, J. et al. was successful in investigating the degree of security tactics adoption
and clearly identified a security gap between the design and implementation of the
software.
The authors followed a manual process to study security vulnerabilities in open
source software. Processes like code review or searching for security keywords in the
documentation or source code does not prove if the software protects its users from
malicious intrusions or leaking private data.
The authors searched for keywords like security, authenticate, authorize, cipher,
encrypt etc. in the source code of the selected 53 Open Source Software to see if any
of these security tactics appear as file names or class names. This is not a ... Show

900 social insurance numbers were stolen from Canadian Revenue Agency by
exploiting the heartbleed bug.
To identify such critical bugs, there has to be an automated testing framework that
tests common programming errors, data leakage and other ways of malicious
intrusions into the application. This paper is very limited to identifying the rate of
usage of the security tactics in open source software. Well documented and
implemented security policies are very important to maintain the quality and
reliability of any software application.
V.OUR CONTRIBUTION
The following are some of our recommendations that should be considered when
deploying or using any open source software.
A.Notification
Getting users to update to the lasted version of the application has been a long lasting
issue with Open Source Software. The main reason for this was attributed to the lack
of awareness about the security update. All the security patches to the application are
pushed to consumers through such updates.
Maintenance is very important to maintain the quality and reliability of the product.
In the software industry updates are a form of maintenance.
We suggest Open source software community to start notifying consumers about the
update. This can done by assigning a unique identification for each of its users and
mandatorily collecting their contact information. Subscribing users to the respective

Philosophy of Rouseau and Lord of the Flies by William...
Living in modern societies, it can be difficult to decipher what person would be
like in a natural state; without civilizations, rules, and punishments for misbehavior.
Does society corrupt our morals or does it keep us civil? The philosopher Jean
Jacques Rousseau believed that people are inherently good. Without civilizations,
humans are good beings with empathy, kindness, and well developed morals.
However, he believed that societies corrupt our morals and are what make the
change in us to become evil or bad . The author of the novel Lord of the Flies,
William Golding, however, believed that in a primitive environment, humans are evil.
Without a society watching over us, humans will become barbaric brutes. Jean
Jacques Rousseau(born 1712) was a philosopher whose beliefs were that humans, in
a natural, primitive state without the influence of any societies, are good beings.
People s uncorrupted morals are not washed away when they are without societies.
Rousseau also believed that a society is what corrupts a human. He believed
ownership of land or property is a lie, because the products of Earth are for all
humans to share, saying: The first man who, having fenced in a piece of land, said
This is mine, and found people naГЇve enough to believe him, that man was the true
founder of civil society. From how many crimes, wars, and murders, from how many
horrors and misfortunes might not any one have saved mankind, by pulling up the
stakes, or filling up
Alan Chalmers Use Of The Scientific Method
Science enables critical evaluation of phenomena in the world around us, based on
evidential hypotheses. The use of the scientific method has allowed reliable scientific
claims to be made, leading to the belief that science is rational. A claim made on the
grounds of scientific experimentation is more widely accepted than a statement
perceived to be common sense. However, scientific experimentation cannot explain
the rationality of science. Over time, the theories of philosophy in science have
evolved in an attempt to explain why science is rational.
In 1976, scientific philosopher, Alan Chalmers, presented his view on the scientific
method: Scientific knowledge is proven knowledge. Scientific theories are derived in

Predictions of the outcome of an experiment are fundamental to scientific
investigation; induction enables predictions. Therefore, I don t believe that induction
should be totally disregarded, but should be used in conjunction with Popper s
theory of falsification. The disproof and falsification of a hypothesis or principle is
not necessarily a bad thing, and can lead to innovation and further scientific research
and investigation. I agree with the fact that scientific knowledge is based on
falsifiable conjectures and hypotheses, and no rock solid
Jeffrey Dahmer Quotes
I made my fantasy life more powerful than my real one ( Jeffrey Dahmer AZ
Quotes ). This quote was said by Jeffrey Dahmer in court. Jeffrey Dahmer was born
on May 21st 1960. His parents were Lionel and Joyce Dahmer. He was born in
West Allis, WI but grew up in Akron Ohio. Dahmer had a little brother who was
born when Dahmer was 7 years old. Dahmer parents went through a brutal divorce
which was very hard on Jeffrey. Jeffrey Dahmerwas one of the most deranged serial
killers that ever lived due to his intense murders, repulsive cannibalism, and foul
necrophilia. Jeffrey Dahmer went through a notorious killing spree murdering 17
young men. Jeffrey Dahmer was 18 years old when he committed his first murder.

Jeffrey took nude photos of young men he would get off on these nude photos.
The photos could either be of the corpses or of the dying victims Dahmer captured.
Dahmer went after minors specifically men who were African Americans. Jeffrey
would find his victims at a bar or any low profile place where people would not
notice the victim missing. After finding a victim he would drug his victims and
take them back to his apartment. In his apartment he would kill the victim
photograph the body and then rape the corpse. The men Dahmer drugged would
sometimes go outside and walk around with handcuffs. Cops would fine them
confused and in a daze from getting heavily drugged. Some of Dahmer s neighbors
have reported several young african americans wondering the streets and going to
Jeffrey s house. Some of his neighbors also complained of the offensive smell from
his apartment. Dahmer told them his refrigerator was out of order, and he would
take care of the problem the stench diminished but did not disappear ( Dahmer,

Cultural Differences Between North And South Italy
Italian people also desire a good reputation and approval from their peers. Humor,
agreeability, reliability, and success in business and in social life are valued over
assertiveness, and health, family, serenity, and financial security are the highest
valued attributes to Italians. Regional differences have made attitudes and behaviors
in the north and south differ greatly. Italians in the north value punctuality, reliability,
organization and economic success, while viewing time as something not to be
wasted. On the other hand, southern Italians value friendliness and warm character,
while enjoying a leisurely lifestyle and taking their time with different tasks. Another
thing they care about is undoubtedly their appearance. For Italians,... Show more

They are often described as loud, and interruptions are expected. Also, they tend to be
eloquent. There is rarely a moment of silence during the conversation. Italian has
characteristics of both Hall s low and high context cultures. Northern Italy and
Southern Italy differ by region, as the south is more collectivist, and the north is more
individualistic. Northern Italy follows Hall s high context culture, and southern Italy
follows Hall s low context culture. A high context communicationstyle is one in
which most of the information is either in the physical context or internalized in
the person, while very little is in the coded, explicit, transmitted part of the
message. It is a communication derive much information from non verbal and
environmental cues, which indicates there are less words of a message. On the
other hand, low context culture audiences derive more meaning from the language
in a message rather than the context the message is being delivered in. In fact,
Italian is more prone to high context messages, they do not need messages to be
high context to derive the message meaning (Republic of Italy). They are more
open to a high context because they perceive messages more than words; for
instance, a color or a scenario might change the meaning of the words completely.
They are very expressive, and there is an intensive use of hand gestures when
speaking in order to convey their opinions. This is
The Malaysian Dilemma
MALAYSIAN DILEMMA SOLUTIONS Racial tolerance and unity are important
in a multiracial country like Malaysia. However, there are many challenges faced
by the prime minister and Malaysian that prevent the country from becoming a
peaceful and harmonious country. For example, we can see a lot of controversial
issue in Tun Dr. Mahathir s book titled The Malay Dilemma . The Malay Dilemma
was written by Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad in 1970 with 188 pages that focused on
Malay s weakness which they do not change their attitudes due to lack of knowledge
influenced by hereditary and environmental factors. The book also describes Malay
economy, government policies, and racial equality. Recently, a lot of issues that
make Malay dilemma become Malaysian dilemma today. Thus, we as Malaysians
must take actions to create the peace and harmony of the country. The controversial
issue in The Malay dilemma book that has become Malaysian dilemma today is
about racism. The racism issues started rising after 13 May 1969 incident. This
incident occurs when Malays and Chinese are having a big fight as Chinese

Federal Government Voluntary
The Federal Government is increasingly relying on the support of government
contractors to support its daily operations. In fiscal year 2000 through 2005 alone,
the Department of Defense s operations and maintenance costs increased 57%,
from $133.4B to $209.5B, while service contract costs increased 73% from $55.4B
to$95.4B in these past five years alone. These increases are primarily due to a swell
of military obligations due to the war on terrorism coupled with no increases in
personnel. Sequestration, along with growing fiscal pressures on executive branch
agencies, are responsible for the gradually shrinking workforce, and agencies are
rethinking how they operate to minimize cuts to public services. From 2013 to 2014,

The solution the OMB proposed is to ensure that there are clear guidelines established
to ensure the critical functions are performed by federal employees, regardless if the
function is determined to be inherently governmental. Assuming the statistics in the
article are true, some of the major implications of the Federal Governments increased
reliance of government contractors is first and foremost, using government
contractors to perform inherently governmental functions, as it is not always easy to
monitor and many times it is not always clear to what functions are actually
inherently governmental. Another issue includes, and is increasingly common, is
the increased reliance on contractors who become so involved with programs that
there is no way to replace them due to the institutional knowledge they have of an
agency and/or agency program. When considering the future of the governmental
workforce, the increased reliance on the private sector could also inhibit the growth
of the federal workforce. With budget cuts and stagnant wages, the government is
not seen as a popular workplace choice with the millennial generation; this coupled
this with the aging government workforce retiring in the coming years, there will
not be enough employees being hired to take their place, causing a viscous cycle
increasing the reliance on contracted assistance. Even today, the government is
beginning to see the effects of this cycle with the acquisition workforce, causing for
a loss of agency knowledge and manpower with the ever changing federal acquisition
laws and regulations this will become quite a feat in feature years. Arguably, some
also say that government contractors do not have a vested interest in the agency
mission or the federal government in general; this often can lead to contractors
looking out for their company vs. the welfare of the

1.Native Americans were people who lived in the Western Hemisphere thousands of
years before the first Europeans. Native Americans developed diverse cultures and
had many different groups that ranged from the Maya to the Aztecs to the Incas to
the Hopis and to the Anasazi. In Central America the Aztecs had a large powerful
empire, while along the eastern coast of North AmericaIndians lived in smaller tribes
and invested in both agriculture and hunting and gathering. They showed genuine
respect for and adapted well to their environment. This included the use of dry
farming and irrigation. It was the male s job to deal with warfare and hunting and the

Entertainment In The 1940 s
Entertainment of the 1940 s The 1940 s was not just a time of grief because of
World War II. Many people found new pleasures and amusement to see the positive
that can come from a tragic event, such as the foreign affairs taking place at the time.
You would think that there would be a feeling of lonesome in the United States, but it
was actually a time of great achievement and delight. World War II brought about
numerous hardships, but through these hardships many people found happiness
through music, entertainment, recreation, and leisure activities.
Patriotism ran high and influenced the pop culture, including the music industry
during and around the time of World War II. Many songs addressed the war directly

Sports And Sports For Constructive Alternatives

Sport and Character. In today s age, sport and sporting events have become pinnacles
of American entertainment, money, and paparazzi. One is inundated with constant
updates regarding football scores, feuds between athletes, and controversy over
refereeing. With sportbeing such a focus in media and society, it often seems that
sport and character are incompatible. Too often one sees an athlete get caught using
illegal performance enhancing drugs, having an affair, or lying and cheating. Sport
appears to be just like any other secular and commercial entertainment: decadent,
impaired, and ultimately characterless. This month s Center for Constructive... Show

Novak then criticized the current news and sports media of today. Upset at how the
media were currently portraying sports, he derided the journalists as amateur social
scientists. Instead of trying to pigeon hole sports into some social science or social
experiment , sport should be seen as rituals concerning human survival on this planet:
liturgical enactments of animal perfection and the struggles of the human spirit to
prevail. As Mr. Novak showcased throughout his lecture, sport captures the struggle of
man throughout history. This struggle is personified through the linebacker tackling
the halfback, the pitcher recomposing himself after giving up a run, or a runner
shaking off cramping as she attempts to complete the marathon. Sports are the human
experience.
Mr. Schilling s talk set a tone unlike any other. That night, he presented a striking
case for why character is influenced by sport. Drawing on his own personal
experiences, Mr. Schilling said that he has come to learn that you can only gain
wisdom through experiences. The experiences through sport that Mr. Schilling went
through ultimately lead to the formation of the man that he is today. Sport also
provides example of and experience with good leadership. Mr. Schilling talked about
leadership, noting that while anyone can be a leader, there are very few leaders in the
world. Although Mr. Schilling had been present among
Strange Fruit Meaning
Strange Fruit The song Strange Fruit was first recorded by the famous jazz singer
Billie Holiday and release in 1939. The genre of the song was blues and jazz.
Strange Fruit was an early cry for the Civil Rights Movement, exposed racism, and
performed the practice o hanging. The song has simple lyrics, that carry a huge
strength, and haunt you even when the song is over. The juxtaposition of the
beautiful landscape, the scent of flowers, with the blood of human beings brutally
beaten, gives a powerful and poignant felling to the song. The song exposes the
brutality of racism in America, and doesn t leave any room for more words. When
the meaning of the song is fully grasped, one remains shocked, angry and disguste by

Billie Holiday, perhaps the greates singer in the jazz history, delivers a soul emptying
vocal lament over a groove as deep and dark as the history of lynching itself. In
Holiday s unforgettable singing we can hear all the rage and resignation, the
sorrow and determination, the bitterness and hope, as if her voice could carry the
full emotional burden of the long and conflicted history of race in America. The
song is heartbraking. The song is simple in its structure, having only three stanzas
and 12 lines. The lines follow a rhyme pattern, where in each consecutive pair of
lines has their ending thyming with each other. Stange Fruit describes the scene of
a lynching of a Black American and its resemblance to a fruit hanging from a tree.
The bodies were described as strange fruits . There are a few methafors in the song;
trees are symbol of life. Meeropol s tree has blood on the leaves and blood at the
root , showing that both recent and older generations of African Americans have
experienced the same sort of violent persecution. This portest song was praised for its
concise yet strong description of the butal treatment given to Black Americans.
Holiday s rendition decorated it with such beauty and power that caught the attention
of White Americas. This ignited the Black s desire to fight for their

I.Introduction: The idea of management implies that you have a goal or a set of goals
in mind. Therefore, the first and most important part of money management is to
clarify your own goals, commit to them and write them down. Why do you need
money? What will you use your money for? How much do you need? For what? For

This can be a significant boost to your total savings.
Finally, and most importantly, the numbers here are AVERAGES over the entire
career of the subject. That s why the numbers look so daunting. Most people get
raises over time, which, in theory, increase the amount they can save. Therefore,
the more distant goals can be safely under funded for longer periods of time than the
more immediate goals. If you have a 30,000 php/year job and get 3% raises every
year for 20 years, you would finish with 54,183 php/year. Then, assuming you hit a
plateau for the next 9 years, you would average 44,931 php/year over the span of
your career.
So, if you can t imagine ever saving 2,800 php per month, don t worry too much.
The other factors mentioned above should lend a helping hand. However, those
figures can be used as inspiration to let you achieve your goals faster.
We rarely hear of people who complain because they became rich too early in life
and found they could safely retire much earlier than they had first planned.

OK, so now you are living cheaper and as a result have some extra money left over
from your immediate survival based monthly expenses. Time to slay the Debt

momentum. This is why the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Money s

Alexander Hamilton s Contribution to America Essay
Introduction According to Scott (2008), the Constitution of America has undergone
several translations within the history of America because they found it to be unclear.
Whereas it appears discrepant that the unclear Constitution could be useful, the
disagreement is the case (Robertson, 2005). Americans regard the Constitution to be
helpful for the reason that it allows for diverseness of views. In the history of
America, a variety of thoughts would develop with alarming and formidable support
through various factions (Robertson, 2005). Today, the main political arguments are
presented from the Republican group or Democratic group. During the early periods
of the American government, arguments on politics were made by Thomas Jefferson

In the American nation, he developed love of regulation, efficiency and organization.
Hamilton strongly showed that America must possess credit for the development of
government operations, trade, industry and business activities. He stressed the
importance of the central government to take over the debts of the state that were
unpaid in the Revolutionary period (Scott, 2008). The central government was
endorsed by the American Constitution to charge and collect taxes as well as pay
liabilities (Robertson, 2005). Such operations can be professionally handled by a
central bank. Therefore, Hamilton was characterized by thinking creatively and
critically as he observed the potential of the trade industry s immense power
(Pancake, 1974). On the other hand, Thomas Jefferson was a great personality but
did not stand out within his nation, which was observed by Americans as
insufficiency of objective (Scott, 2008). Actually, Jefferson was not deficient of
objective because he strongly fought for independence within the American nation.
Jefferson strongly wanted the power of economy to depend on the sector of
agriculture (Pancake, 1974). However, he realized the need for change and provided
a support for the farmers to participate in the extension of global market. Jefferson
trusted in the capability of American nation to create strategy

Premises Based on Immanuel Kant s Perspective on the...
Introduction: In the following essay I will be presenting premises based on
Immanuel Kant s perspective on the matter of, Groundwork of the Metaphysic of
Morals . Once I have outlined Kant s view on the matter, I will then object to the
conclusions, that Always treat a human being (yourself included) as an end, and
never as a mere means (Kant pg.169), making his whole argument false.
Immanuel Kant s Argument:
1.Good Will that could be considered good without limitation (Kant pg. 103) it is
good in itself (Kant pg. 104)
2.The Notion of Duty In order to do so, we shall set before ourselves the concept of
duty, which contains that of a good will though under certain subjective limitations

The World Health Organization Has Declared Poverty The...
The World Health Organization has declared poverty the single largest determinant
of health for both adults and children. (Jakovljevi, 2016, p. 455). Recent studies
report that many children are living in poverty all across the world. These children
are facing many obstacles as a result. These barriers range from lack of money or
resources, nutritional foods, and suitable housing. Additionally, these children have a
hard time focusing in school because their number one priority is survival. There are
also studies that support povertythat play a role in the development, behavioral issues,
and cognitive problems (Jakovljevi, 2016). Poverty affects people adversely due to
the lack of financial stability in the home, missed educational... Show more content on

These types of programs are not always accessible to those in need. Children who
live in poverty have limited access to safe neighborhoods. Farthing (2016) cited
Daly and Leonard (2016) as saying, the poverty living conditions affected mental
health and the quality of life in the children. They also suggested safety concerns
due to higher rates of crime (2016). Many things hinder impoverished children from
playing and being healthy such as, not living in suitable housing where the
neighborhoods are plagued with crime. Therefore, this keeps the children from
playing outside and prevents them from getting adequate exercise to sustain a
healthy lifestyle. Rather than children from higher income homes that can go
outdoors and get plenty of exercise. Farthing (2016) interpreted Rice (2006) and
Ridge (2008) as stating Poor quality housing was described by children and young
people as a cause of ill health, anxiety and a general sense of unhappiness (p.3).
Being sick and dejected from the inadequate housing is just another battle these
children face on a daily basis.
Due to limited financial ability, the children were forced to eat unhealthy diets.( Ka

purchase cheaper food products, which were ultimately unhealthier options. In Hong

John Brown Martyr Essay
John Brown was many things when he was alive, an abolitionist, a father and a
husband. Most of all he was a martyr; a vigilante someone who acts outside the law.
Brown acted outside the law for a cause that he strongly believed in. He is a martyr
by opinion and definition.
The abolitionist movement used to be miniscule compared to the pro slavery stance.
John Brown was one of a handful of white people who were anti slavery. It was a
cause he was willing to die for. A cause he had an enormous amount of passion for.
Brown in 1855 had assisted in the escape of several slaves. An act that was selfless.
He during the time had a sizeable amount of lawsuits against him, all of which
relating to his employment in the wool industry. The lawsuits are of relevance when
portraying Brown as a martyr; even though he had all these problems in his present
he still fought for what he believed in. He later appointed himself captain of the anti
slavery forces on Osawatomie Creek. Brown s position of captain suggests

Life Span and the Variables that Effect It Essay
Life Span and the Variables that Effect It
Our lives, are rather insignificant in the whole scheme of the universe, just imagine
that the universe has been around for billions and billions of years, yet we only see a
100 year portion of it. If we get to see that whole 100 years of it then we are
considered lucky, the average life span is influenced by so many variables, it is
amazing how many things that we have little or no control over can effect the our
lives. For instance, genetics is a variable that we have no control over, we do not
choose our genetic makeup, it is chosen for us. Yet our genetics influence our lives
in such a large way. Through genetics our life span can be affected by disease and
abnormalities. Heredity is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Culture has a big impact on the decisions that a person makes and whether they
view their decisions as moral or immoral. Males and females both have a different
average life expectancy, why is that? Why does gender affectthe life span? The
average life span for men in the U.S. is 72 years old and the average for women is
79 years old. Many diseases are more common in men than in women or some are
more common in women than in men, overall men are at risk more for heart
disease and lung disease. This causes the decreased life expectancy for men as
opposed to women. Although education is a voluntary aspect of life it is still vital
to the length of a life span. The knowledge of one s own anatomy is an important
aspect of knowing about possible diseases that may come your way. The
knowledge of various diseases and their symptoms will help a person detect a
sickness before it becomes a problem. Education provides a knowledge base for
one s own capabilities and limits, thus a person is more aware of their normal state
of being and they can easily determine when they are ill or have an abnormal
feeling. This early detection of disease will automatically act as a tool in recovering
quickly and preventing long term side
Wondering About My Sexuality
I had been wondering about some things in life as I was heading through my teen
years and sexuality was one of them. I was nineteen but I still wasn t sure what boat
I wanted to catch yet. I liked boys don t get me wrong but sexual activity with them
just wasn t exciting and arousing.
I was catching up with my bisexual friend Shelly she was beautiful, had the most
attractive body and she told me she would help me to venture onto trying something
a little different in the sexual department. I wasn t really into the idea of becoming
fleshly with a girl but that was a guessing opinion of mine as I hadn t tried it out
before.
Shelly arrived and let herself in and helped herself to some red wine I had chilling in
my ice bucket.
As we sipped our wine Shelly explained the wine would help to calm my nerves for
the first time.
After a few wines we started giggling together then Shelly moved in for the growl. I
could feel her coming close to me, feeling her hands on my face and I couldn t help
but to go with it.
Her lips connected to mine and our tongues explored for a few moments until Shelly
pulled away and smiled, So honey got any finger food I m a little peckish . I went to
the kitchen and opened some savory biscuits and placed them in a bowl when I felt
Shelly s arms around my waist clutching me tightly. Her lips came close to my ear.
I felt her teeth gently gnaw into my ear as she started to slide her knee inside my
thighs letting me feel her close.
Shelly s warmth had a
The Effects Of Cultural Backgrounds On Interpersonal...
Different cultural backgrounds can have certain effects on the interpersonal
communication between students; and how cultural diversity benefits them socially
and academically. Students expand their knowledge about other cultures by
interacting with other students of different backgrounds. In doing so, they are
growing socially and academically. According to Sarwari (2014), students that
cooperate or interact with students from other cultures gain interpersonal
communication skills, which are necessary in the workplace. Through interaction
they acquire new perspectives and a better academic life (Sarwai 2014, Ibrahim 2014,
Aziz 2014). Along the same lines as mentioned by Ramburuth, Welch (2005),
classroom diversity is an ideal source that teachers can target to assist students in
building their cross cultural competence (Ramburuth 2005, Welch 2005). Both,
Sarwari and Ramburuth, portray how students can benefit from having different
cultures within a classroom because it can give them the upper hand in a workplace
environment or a social event due to the experience they get when interacting with
individuals from other nationalities. Furthermore, stated by Taras, Rowney (2007),
students bring with them a variety of backgrounds and types of knowledge which
helps them come up with different solutions on how to approach a problem (Taras
2007, Rowney 2007). On the other hand, Ramburuth, Welch (2005) established that

Media Influence On Culture
The media has a large influence on culture and our beliefs. Many people are
influenced and affected by what the media says about their own culture or other
cultures. The media can make some cultures seem better than they are and make
some cultures seem worse than they are. For example, the police are given a bad
reputation for shooting and killing people for no reason. This is manipulation of
the media because they do not give people all of the details on why the police shot
them. What actually happens is that the police are forced to shoot people because
they are carrying weapons and refuse to put them down or even use them against
police. Also, most news channels are sided with a certain political party. These news
channels will try to hurt the reputations of opposing politicians, while trying to boost
the reputations of the politicians in their party. A way I have seen this is that my
grandfather, who is a democrat, watches one news channel, and my grandmother,
who is a republican, refuses to watch that channel and will only watch a different
one, saying that channel is just a bunch of stupid democrats. A third way people are
influenced by the media is through celebrities. For example, if a celebrity says
something controversial, their fans will sometimes agree with them and also believe
what they said to be true. Although sometimes they have no idea what they are
talking about and are just trying to sound intelligent but end up being a bad influence.

Memorial Hall Essay
Memorial Hall
When walking through Boston s renowned Harvard Yard, one may scope out the
mixture of architecture throughout its landscape. From the traditional Memorial
Hall influenced by Romanesque churches, to the Carpenter Center for the Visual
Arts, Harvard Yard is like a salad bowl of architecture. Perhaps because I am a lover
of Victorian style structures, or maybe because of its interior s beauty and richness,
Memorial Hall intrigued my interest most of all.
Memorial Hall, which was originally a civil war monument, is now a theater and
student union for Harvard University. The 19th century architects Robert Ware and

This window also allows a colorful light inside the memorial of the building. The
interior of Memorial Hall differs from the gothic structures that the building resembles
from the outside. While gothic structures were composed mostly of stone, Memorial
Hall is decorated with walnut. The vaulting, which traditionally would be made of
stone, is made of wood. There is a repeated use of the rosette, trefoil, quatrefoil, and
cross motifs that help connect the exterior with the interior of the building. These
details are found in the wood carvings of Sanders Theater, the great transept doors, the
sandstone frieze that surrounds the exterior, the columns and wrought iron gates, the
buttress, the stained glass windows, and the chandeliers. Also there is ornamental
ironwork that outlines the roof if Sanders Theater and crowns the four subsidiary
towers. Another feature of Memorial Hall that captures the mood of its exterior is the
layout of the remaining original furnishings throughout the building. The materials
used to construct the interior and exterior of Memorial Hall create a defined space in
which the building captivates.

Analysis Of The Novel Dracula
(The author and his/her times) Abraham Stoker was born in Clontarf, Dublin,
Republic of Ireland on November 8, 1847. He was one of seven children and very
sickly. At the age of 65, Stoker died on April 20, 1912, in London, England for
reasons that are still unclear. One theory is that he died of syphilis; another
suggests that he, most likely, died of a stroke. As a child Stoker was confined to
his bed due to sickness, as a way to console him, his mother would tell him Irish
folklore. Many of these stories consisted of supernatural characters, such as
vampires. From these stories it is said that Stoker added more upon the vampires in
the stories he was told and used them as inspiration for his novel Dracula. There are
several theories behind what really influenced Stoker, a common one is that his
influence derived from Prince of Wallachia, Vlad III or better known as Vlad the
Impaler. However, his nephew, Irving Stoker, claims that his uncle was inspired after
he seen Count Draculain a nightmare after eating too much dressed crab. Stoker is
said to have added more upon the vampirecharacters that already existed during his
time.
(Form, structure, and plot) Abraham Stoker organizes his book in episodic form; it is
composed of diary pages, newspaper clippings, journal entries and letters. This
provides various perspectives because he includes many narrators. To develop
suspense and contribute to the mood of the novel the author foreshadows important

How The Other Half Lives Summary
In the history of America, there are many books, which had powerful impact on
political, social and cultural aspects of the society and influenced transformative
changes in building the strong modern America. One of such book is, How the
Other Half Lives , authored by Jacob Riis in 1888.
Jacob Riis migrated to New York from Denmark but as he could not find work, he
stayed in slums of New York. The conditions of the accommodation and the plight of
the slum developers touched him deeply and he started writing about the same.
Important part of his work was the pictures he took of the slums and people living
there to depict their horrible conditions. He bought a detective camera, which he used

He was of the belief that the bad and dangerous living conditions of the poor is the
result of the greed and complete neglect by the rich and wealthier people over a long
time. With his work he tried to make the well of people sympathize with the poor and
underprivileged youth and adults.
In his book, How the Other Half Lives, Riis explained the correlation between the
high crime rate in the city to the lack of home, money and sources with the poor
people, which drives them to become troublemakers and indulge in various heinous
crimes. He adopted photography as a persuasive instrument to bring about reforms.
His words and pictures really had great effect on people as they directly touched their
hearts.
In his book, Riis also talks about the solution to this longstanding problem, which
he again strongly believed that will not only improve the conditions of the people
living in slums but would be beneficial to the rich people also. He also urged that
besides being financially good for them it is the mortal duty of rich and wealthy
people to work to up lift the living standards of the
Saving Grace
Not a Saving Grace Although society may think otherwise, saving students is not the
role of teachers, no matter how many good movies there are out there. The media
gives the impression that something is wrong with students when they enter the
classroom and that is is the teacher s job to fix them of their issues. Because of this
impression, today s teachers are faced with the challenge of overcoming this great
myth that has been engraved in society s mind. Teachers are meant to be a support
system for their students, not a saving grace. They are given the expectation to be a
superstar in the classroom because media portrays them to be just that; a hero.
What society doesn t always know, however, is that it can be hard enough to maintain
order in their classroom, let alone be the student s hero. The disconnection between
the public s expectations of teaching and what critics say is very profound. All too
often, movies lead parents to hold these hero like expectations to their child s
teacher. Dead Poet s Society directed by Peter Weir is a prime example of why the
public s expectations of teaching is disconnected from what critics like Ayers, Moore,

Which in reality, is erroneous. Teachers are educators, not heroes. They come into the
classroom expecting to have a few troubled students, but they know that saving them
isn t the answer. Rather, they encourage them to work with the students individually
until the desired goals are met. Teachers do not see themselves as a saving grace
because they know that students do not need saving. What students need is a support
system that they can come to for help along the way to success. They also inspire
students to take on tasks they never thought imaginable. I want my students in the

Georg Ferdinand, Philipp Cantor
Georg Ferdinand Ludwig Philipp Cantor was born on March 3, 1845 in Saint
Petersburg, Russia. His father, Georg Waldemar Cantor, was a successful
merchant working as a wholesaling agent, then later found another job as a broker
in the St. Petersburg Stock Exchange. Georg s father was born in Denmark and had
a deep passion for culture and arts. His mother, Maria Anna Böhm, was from
Russia and very musical. Georg inherited his love for music and arts from his
parents, considering he was a wonderful violinist. Georg was brought up as
Protestant, which was his father s religion, but his mother was a Roman Catholic.
Georg had a private tutor for a while until he attended a primary school in St.
Petersburg. In 1856, his family moved to Germany because of his father s poor
health to stay away from Russia s rough winters and to find warmer weather. Georg
was never happy with the move but made the most out of it. They first moved to
Wiesbaden, Germany than later moved to Frankfurt, where Georg studied at the
Realschule in Darmstadt. In 1860, Georg graduated with a distinction from
Realschule as an outstanding student in mathematics, especially trigonometry. In
1862, Georg asked his father for permission to study mathematics and was thrilled
when his father consented and entered University of ZГјrich, but that was all cut
short when his father passed a year later in 1863. Georg received a substantial

Influence Of The British Colonial Empire During The Mid...
During the mid 1650s, tensions between Spain and Britain were high and Britain
was looking for a way to gain a basis of operations in the Caribbean. Through this, it
would be easier for Britain to weaken the influence that Spain held over the New
World. In 1654, a fleet sailed from England with the goal of capturing the island of
Hispaniola. This effort proved unsuccessful, and the fleet was reluctant to return to
Britain empty handed. The Spanish defenses at Jamaica were low which made the
invasion of the island successful. Once the British had taken over Jamaica, they were
able to develop a powerful colony with a commercial background based first on
privateering and trade, and later on though sugar plantations and slavery. It was
because of these institutions that helped the British colonial empire to become more
powerful than that of any other nation at this time. Though Jamaica was not the
original target for capture during the Anglo Spanish war, it soon proved to be one of
Britain s most valuable colonies.
Spain held the main sphere of power in the West Indies during the mid 1600s,
controlling many of the islands. With this came a massive trade network and a large
amount of political influence. All of this was not something the Britain was going to
let slip away. What she needed was a base of operation in the West Indies from
which the British could begin to interfere in Spanish affairs and gain part of the
wealth that Spain was earning in the Americas. Following the
Cardiac Surgery With Cardiopulmonary Bypass Essay
Introduction
Cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) is one of the most widely
recognized major surgical procedures worldwide. Renal failure is a noteworthy
cause of morbidity and mortality after cardiac surgery.1,2 Acute kidney injury
(AKI) occurs in about 20 40% of patients3 and is associated with a mortality rate of
8% compared with 0.9% in patients without AKI. AKI requiring hemodialysis in the
postoperative period is uncommon (~ 1% to 5%), yet associated with a remarkably
high mortality rate of 30% to 60%.4 (11 13). AKI increases the risk for ensuing
chronic kidney disease and kidney failure, with its associated morbidity and
mortality.5
Clinical prediction tools have been developed to estimate the possibility of cardiac
surgery associated AKI (CSA AKI).8 10 These have recognized female gender,
impaired left ventricular function, insulin requiring diabetes, emergency surgery, and
abnormal baseline renal function as independent predictors of requirement for dialysis
.23 Pathophysiological mechanisms of CSA AKI include decreased renal perfusion,
lack of pulsatile flow, oxidative stress, hypothermia, atheroembolism, and
inflammation 23. The main mechanism of injury is thought to be intraoperative
ischemia reperfusion injury (IRI).20 Prolonged duration of cardiopulmonary bypass
(CPB) and its inflammatory response, and prolonged aortic cross clamping are the
leading factors associated with an increased likelihood of cardiac ischemia
reperfusion injury.22 Although

Dishonesty As A Vice, Is Universal And Timeless Essay
Dishonesty, as a vice, is universal and timeless; according to the Bible, the very first
humans on earth committed the first sin of deception. Adam and Eve lied to God
about whether they had eaten the fruit of the forbidden tree in the Garden of Eden,
cementing the human race as one which feels that the burden of truth is too
cumbersome to carry, and dooming humanity to a life of sin. Modern liars still carry
on this legacy of deception, and rather than seeing modern liars as their own
association, all living humans are modern liars. Regardless of whether the practice
of dishonesty is daily or hourly, small white lies or large scale intentional
misdirection, each mortal creature contributes to the act of lying. Some of these
large scale liars were interviewed in the documentary entitled (Dis)Honesty: The
Truth About Lies people from all walks of life who share solidarity in the experience
of the exposition and chastisement which frequently follows the act of lying. The
interviewees also collectively understand the snowballing effect of lies taking on a
life of their own and growing exponentially in size as they must be maintained
through an ever expanding mountain of mistruths. All those who were interviewed
started with good intentions and seemingly justifiable excuses for their dishonesty,
and yet have all had to face the consequences that come with lying. The act of lying
along with the question of its morality was viewed to be paramount in the study of
Essay A Sorrowful Woman
A Sorrowful Woman The story that is A Sorrowful Woman seems to be a story told
from the point of view of a narrator who focuses only slightly on the inner conflict
of one of the main charters in the story. The character of which I am speaking is
never referred to by name, instead is called she, the woman, mommy, and wife
throughout the entire story which lends credence to the conclusionof the viewpoint as
being told from the outside. The first indication that the focus of the story will be
not of a warm and loving nature is the line The sight of them made her so sad and
sick she did not want to see them again (1). This is where a hypothesis can begin to

Then in the next line there is no mention of the woman speaking to the child or
acknowledging that the child ever spoke to her. The purposeful shunning of the
child by the woman is appalling and baffling at the same time. The child in the
story is an innocent, wanting to please and gain acknowledgement and love from
the very woman that is sickened by the very sight of the child. The mysterious
reasons for the shunning of the child can be guessed at in committee, but without
more history as to reasoning: the idea of the woman seeing the child as the one
reason for her illness is the most conclusive idea to be had. A supporting clause for
the woman being ever more resentful of the child is the description given when
during the course of play, the woman is scratched enough to draw a small bead or
two of blood, One of his sharp little claws ripped her flesh, just above the wrist... a
thin red line materialized on the inside of her pale arm and spill over with tiny
beads (6). The reaction to this was not to grimace and clean her arm or to take time
to trim the child s finger nails to prevent such from happening again. Instead the
woman says clearly Go away (6). Then lock herself away from the child. No
explanation or reason given to the child but to ignore and satisfy vengeance towards
what the woman views as something that

BEYOND THE DIVIDE

The reason I chose this book is because it is about a different culture and a different
life than of anyone I know.
Beyond the Divide is about a young Amish girl who felt suffocated living in the
Amish community. Meribah Simon had grown up in the Amishcommunity and the
strict rules of the community felt like walls closing in around her. Her father had
been shunned by the elders of the community and when Meribah found out that her
father was leaving to join the gold rush she decided to go with him. On the trip to
California there were many good times and just as many bad; if not more. On the

When some time had passed Meribah s father had gotten a wound from helping
someone fix something. When their wagon got broken down they could not go on
any further and the families with them did not want to take her father but they
agreed to take her. She loved her father dearly and would not let him be left behind.
The greed for gold caused many of the people to leave behind many of the others in
the group for the sake of getting to the gold as soon as possible. I can t say that I
wouldn t have been a better person than that because I have never been in such a
situation. I only hope that my choices would be different and greed would be
overcome with love and the choice to stay and help a human being in need. The
determination to survive was greater than just giving up and dying. Meribah and
her father were left behind to fend for themselves. The cold had come and it was
her job to keep her and her father alive because her father was ill and could not
help. She went out and hunted for things to build a little wagon on her own. There
were many things others had thrown out so there were many things to choose from.
I think that when faced with tough situations a person will somehow get through if
they have the determination. Sometimes when I have to do something and there is
no one to help or do it for me I feel as if I have that responsibility and I do what I
have to do. Many changes came
Special Needs For Special Education
Introduction/Purpose
Fitzgerald, Ryan Fitzgerald (2015) reported that it has been an increase of children
identified with special education needs in different countries in Europe. One of the
explanation for this influx is the definition of special needs recently changed, which
caused more children to fall under that category. Since more children qualify for
special education, professionals and parents need training and guidance on meeting
the needs of those students. In Ireland, there is a challenge in finding the best
comprehensive and coordinated Early Intervention (EI) service because EI models
varies in different areas, which cause inconsistencies (Fitzgerald et al., 2015). The
two models that are mostly used in Ireland are the multidisciplinary team approach
(MDA) and the transdisciplinary team approach (TDA). Some of the functions and
characteristics of the MDA are the team members assess, create goals, work with
and evaluate the child separately. In addition, the team provides home visits. Some
of the functions and characteristics of the TDA approach are team members
collaborate with each other, the team members cross disciplinary boundaries to
increase communication and one team member is designated as a key worker,
which is someone who is available as a link for families attending EI services
(Fitzgerald et al., 2015, p.200).The purpose of this study is to discover parents

How Does Body Image Affect Self Esteem
Media and body image
How media and body image effects self esteem
To lack self esteem means to lack confidence in yourself, essentially, its how you
see your body, not only when you look in a mirror but the mental image of how
you perceive your body. With a damaged self esteem an individual can feel
worthless. Media can seriously damage a young teenagers self esteem with the
way it portrays the female body. According to thinspiration alludes to symbolism
normally shared via web based networking media that urges a client to be thin. It is
a self perception that is perfect to numerous around the globe, particularly by
models in media. Models are advertised so falsely that young girls may begin to
wonder if there is something wrong with them or why they don t look like what
people perceive as beautiful. The way they view their body is affected negatively
as a result. This then leads to feeling overwhelmed and low. Threads on fat shaming
or discussions about ideal body weight can be found all over social media lowering
the self esteem of venerable teenagers.. Thousands of images with hashtags of
thinspiration and bonespiration (which just happens to be very thin images meant
inspire certain body ideals) can be found all over social media With the promotion
of unrealistic body images, adolescents begin to envy the way they look and viewing
it in a negative manner. discuss how body image dissatisfaction is obtaining negative
views about one s physical body, shape and weight. Individuals with a big level of
confidence know who they are. They think using logic and reason and discover
companions that accept them for who they are. Individuals with a high level of
confidence feel responsible for their lives and are aware of their gifts and abilities..
With studies showing self esteem is impacted by social media, anything on the
internet can influence someone, somewhere. Negative images impact self esteem
negatively and vise versa, meaning if body image is portrayed as unrealistic and
negative, it will cause individuals to feel negatively about themselves.

Australia and China both benefit if Australia makes iron ore and resource goods and
China makes manufactured goods
One advantage of trade for Australia is the access to a wider variety of goods for
Australian consumers. With the nation importing many different goods from Chinese
trading markets, Australian consumers can purchase a wider variety of goods,
services and foods that are not only of a better quality and cheaper due to increased
competition, but wouldn t otherwise have been available. Goods such as Chinese
electronics, food items and furniture.
Imported products from China may be made to a better quality than

Blue Man Group: Creativity, Life and Surviving an
Economic Meltdown
1
Sometimes when we look at where Blue Man Group has gone; we just sort of
scratch our heads. And we think about how we started, basically just the three of us
saying, Why don t we get bald and blue and do stuff? Chris Wink, co founder with
friends Matt Goldman and Phil Stanton
Monday evening on July 7, 2008, Chris, Matt and Phil were slumped around a
conference table littered with leftover sushi boxes, and sales and financial reports.
Their CFO had just left the room. It was clear they were in a red ink black ink
situation; they could go under. It was frightening to ... Show more content on

They had begun a journey they never could have foretold, opening shows in Boston,
Chicago,
Las Vegas, and Orlando; taking their theatrical show to audiences internationally;
making albums and staging rock concerts. An estimated 17 million people had
enjoyed their shows by mid 2008, paying $43 to $131 for the experience.4 Along the
way, CMP became husbands and fathers, and launched an educational venture called
the Blue School that embodied their spirit of creativity and collaboration.5 And they
loved it all.
Before They Were Blue
In 1987, Chris, Phil and Matt found themselves in their mid 20s, sharing an apartment
in New
York City, each quite different but all in search of a creative outlet. Matt had once
read that life was a succession of hitting plateaus right when you needed to meet a
person or form a relationship to move to the next level. That was our experience, he
said. Phil was the relative newcomer to the group;
Matt and Chris had a history that extended back to high school.
Matt was born into a fourth generation New York City family, his mother a writer
and teacher, and his father a documentary film maker. He attended public elementary
school, which he described as a big institution with no soul, 6 and then the Fieldston
High School, a private institution. He recalled his high school years:
I was lucky to get into Fieldston at all. My test scores were so so; I later found out I
was borderline dyslexic. But the application
Why I Want To Work On My Bachelor s Degree
My plan right now is to work on my bachelor s degree. That is the first priority in my
life. Currently I am an E 5 in the Navy. I have a year left at my current command. I
have a goal to finish my bachelors in the next two and a half years. I have a year
left on my current contract now. In the service, we call the number of years we
have enlisted for contracts. I signed up for 3 years and February of 2017 my
contract will be up. I plan on reenlisting for another 3 years to finish up my degree
and save more money. My job I am doing right now involves Intel. I have been
doing this for the past 6 years that I have been in the Navy. I am currently trying to
rerate. Rating in the service is what we call our jobs. Each branch of the service has
a different name for it but the navy call what our jobs are... Show more content on

I am trying to rerate to become a paralegal. Law and legal work seems more
interesting to me while I am in the service and is a better fit for me then being in the
intel community. I know that I would enjoy it more being involved with people and
learning about the laws of the military. If I cannot get another job while I am in the
service I still plan on re enlisting for another 2 to 3 years anyway. I want to get my
bachelor degree in Management Information Systems. I love the combination of
Business and Information Systems and I feel that will be more competitive in the
civilian world if I have a mixture of both fields. My plan is not to stay in the
service for 20 years. I really find business to be fascinating. Business is a field that
is constantly changing, things are being created, its fast paced, and in constant
motion. The service can be stifling. My intentions were to only due a 4 year tour
however, I did not want to get out of the service without my degree. It wasn t until
recently I figured out what I wanted to do for college. I reenlisted for another 3
Galactic Empire Research Paper
The Galactic Empire is the largest military force in the galaxy, with their only
opposition being the Rebel Alliance. The AT AT Walker is arguably the most
powerful terrestrial vehicle at the disposal of the Galactic Empire. The Empire
employs the AT AT onto the battlefield as both a troop transport and an assault craft.
The AT AT has been deployed in multiple battlefield
environments, including the
assault on Hoth and defense of the forest moon of Endor, with deadly effect. The AT
AT is used when the Empire needs to assault an enemy position, or when a large
amount of enemies need taken out. The AT AT is also utilized as a physiological
deterrent.
The AT At is a quadrupedal, highly armored vehicle, with the command deck and
pilot s seat ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One such weakness is its inability to attack anything behind its main body. The
walker would have to turn completely around to engage a target behind it thus
exposing itself to the direction it was previously facing. One of the most
commonly exploited weaknesses of the AT AT is it high center of gravity, making
it top heavy. One example of the rebels taking advantage of this weakness is when
the Empire assaulted Hoth. Rebel snow speeders attached tow lines toe the walker
s legs and wrapped the line around it until the walker got snagged and toppled over.
The walker also has a hard time attacking more than one target at a time. Another
weakness is the flexible tunnel that runs between the cargo and troop areas of the
craft and the head. One direct blast to this tunnel detonated the entire AT AT. The
platting on the underbelly of the walker is slightly weaker and easier to damage.
The AT AT also has no way to protect against troops beneath its main body, where
the lightly armored hatch can be easily cut free and sabotaged. One other big
weakness in the design of the AT AT is the fact that it is very slow compared to the
smaller AT ST. Also the terrain it is in can limit it much farther, with it moving at its
fastest on flat smooth ground and its slowest on steep rocky inclines, and heavily
forested areas like the moon of Endor where its usage was far less than the
William Marshall
To what extent was William Marshall s life as a knight different from other knights of
the time? Invariably it was not that much different than those of his peers until his
later life. The one thing that set him apart from other knights was his fierce
dedication to loyalty.
William Marshall was not given consideration from his father; this was not unheard
of for the time. Many knights throughout Crouch s work are said to have had, a
similar life to that of William Marshall. His loyalty, dedication to duty and good
looks were some of the few things that set him apart. This trend was seen most of his
life.
The tournament meant a great deal to Marshall during his early years. He had spent
so much time training to fight in conflict, but ... Show more content on

Marshall knew his one true test would be balancing the kingdom against his future
lord John. His loyalty to Richard was unceasing during his time away. Marshall was
prepared to fight John with the other co justicars to defend the kingdom from John
during Richard s captivity.
One of the most telling things about Marshall s loyalty and state of mind comes
through with the death of his brother. He pauses briefly on his way to meet his king
fresh from captivity, only to meet with the widow then he is off again to meet the
king. During the time it is accepted the king would have understood his late arrival
but Marshall cared more about placing himself in high standing to his lord, showing
his loyalty yet again.
When John ascended the throne he also saw in Marshall someone he could use.
Although during his rule Marshall spoke against him and they had a falling out over
Ireland, Marshall remained loyal to John until his death; even fighting against his
own son. When John died his loyalty was rewarded with the high honor of being
placed regent of the kingdom. It is my interpretation that this is one of the reasons
Marshall is so highly regarded.
Many knights had the same life as Marshall, because he is regarded as a hero by the
History that is referenced often in Crouch s work, and because we know so much
more about his life a much bigger to do is made about
Commercialism In The Truman Show
https://makewealthhistory.org/2011/10/26/the trouble with advertising 2/ http:/
/www.gradesaver.com/the truman show/study guide/themes The world is
commercial and materialistic Whilst watching the film The Truman Show, an idea
that resonated with me is the idea of commercialism and the materialism.
Throughout the film it made me aware; what is the impact that media, television
and real life advertisements towards the commercialism and materialism of today s
society? How did and how does this shape our world? The idea of commercialism
and materialism has been built around society in The Truman Show and is relevant
today; our world is commercial and materialistic. During Christof s TruTalk
interview, he discloses that the show is subsidized by the amount earned from
product placements and sales from products in the the show as everything on the
show can be purchased. Throughout the show commercials are ran through various
characters like his wife Meryl; like in the scene where she stares into the camera
(explain..) . The Truman Show, what seems like the perfect reality show with
perfect characters with perfect lives is really a big commercial a concept on play;
profiting for The Truman Show business. To further expand this idea I will answer...

touches on the topic of commercials; techniques they use and how that affects us and
which the author specifically writes advertising circumvents our thought processes
and subtly encourages further debt, selfishness, and a cavalier attitude to the
environment . I think that this is a reliable source because the author holds strong
opinions on the topic covering both ends of the spectrum; the pros and the cons of
advertising. Although this article is written by an American, New Zealanders can still
relate it to the situation here in New Zealand as
Global Marketing
CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION TO GLOBAL MARKETING
SUMMARY
A company that engages in global marketing focuses resources on global market
opportunities and threats. Successful global marketers such as Nestle, Coca Cola, and
Honda use familiar marketing mix elements the four Ps to create global marketing
programs.
Marketing, R D, manufacturing, and other activities comprise a firm s value chain;
firms configure activities to create superior customer value on a global basis.
Global companies also maintain strategic focus while pursuing competitive
advantage. The marketing mix, value chain, competitive advantage, and focus are
universal in their applicability, irrespective of whether a company does business only
in the home country or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Value to the customer can be increased in two ways 1. an improved bundle of
benefits or 2. a lower price.
1. Marketers may improve the product, design new channels of distribution,
communicate better or a combination of all three. 2. Marketers may seek ways to cut
costs or lower the price. Nonmonetary costs may be lowered by decreasing the time
and effort customers must expend to learn about or acquire a product.
If a company is able to offer a combination of superior product, distribution, and
promotion of the benefits AND offer lower prices than its competition, it should
enjoy an advantageous position.
Discussion Question #1: What are the basic goals of marketing? Are these goals
relevant to global marketing?
Competitive Advantage, Globalization, and Global Industries
Competitive Advantage occurs when a company succeeds in creating more value for
customers than its competitors. Competitive advantage is measured relative to rivals
with whom you compete in the industry whether that is on a local, national, or global
level.
Global marketing is essential if a company competes in a global industry or one that
is globalizing.
What is globalization?

The process of globalization is the transformation of
Physician Assisted Suicides
Imagine suffering day to day with consistent hospital visits, numerous medications,
and unbearable pain for the next six months of your life, then being told that dying
peacefully is not a granted privilege. Then imagine not being able to die in a
controlled and dignified process like you prefer to. How would that affect the way
you feel about deathand the rest of your life you have left? Millions of people
suffering from terminal illnesses consider physician assisted suicide, but their wishes
are rejected due to state and government beliefs. In fact, only five states out of fifty
have a law permitting citizens the right to participate in physician assisted suicide.
That leaves just only 10% of the United States entitling critically ill patients to die
with nobility. However, many citizens are commencing to lean toward physician
assisted suicides once they ascertain they hold a terminal illness.... Show more content

With self interest, patients inquire a legal doctor about their privilege of a controlled
death by oral medication. Physician Assisted Suicides allow a competent adult
resident of the state to obtain a prescription from a physician for a lethal dose of
medication, for the purpose of causing death through self administration (Ganzini 77).
Aid in dying is a term commonly used for physician assisted suicide. In other words,
Physician Assisted Suicides permit terminal patients and physicians to work together
to accommodate a licit planned death. Furthermore, with the permission of AID, a
physician writes a prescription for the life ending medication for a terminally ill,
mentally capacitated (Orentlicher, Pope, and Rich

  • 2. A Brief Note On Security Tactics Adoption And A Security... IV.CRITICAL ANALYSIS Ryoo, J. et al. was successful in investigating the degree of security tactics adoption and clearly identified a security gap between the design and implementation of the software. The authors followed a manual process to study security vulnerabilities in open source software. Processes like code review or searching for security keywords in the documentation or source code does not prove if the software protects its users from malicious intrusions or leaking private data. The authors searched for keywords like security, authenticate, authorize, cipher, encrypt etc. in the source code of the selected 53 Open Source Software to see if any of these security tactics appear as file names or class names. To identify such critical bugs, there has to be an automated testing framework that tests common programming errors, data leakage and other ways of malicious intrusions into the application. This paper is very limited to identifying the rate of usage of the security tactics in open source software. Well documented and implemented security policies are very important to maintain the quality and reliability of any software application. V.OUR CONTRIBUTION The following are some of our recommendations that should be considered when deploying or using any open source software. A.Notification Getting users to update to the lasted version of the application has been a long lasting issue with Open Source Software. The main reason for this was attributed to the lack of awareness about the security update. All the security patches to the application are pushed to consumers through such updates. Maintenance is very important to maintain the quality and reliability of the product. In the software industry updates are a form of maintenance. We suggest Open source software community to start notifying consumers about the update. This can done by assigning a unique identification for each of its users and mandatorily collecting their contact information. Subscribing users to the respective open source
  • 3. Philosophy of Rouseau and Lord of the Flies by William... Living in modern societies, it can be difficult to decipher what person would be like in a natural state; without civilizations, rules, and punishments for misbehavior. Does society corrupt our morals or does it keep us civil? The philosopher Jean Jacques Rousseau believed that people are inherently good. Without civilizations, humans are good beings with empathy, kindness, and well developed morals. However, he believed that societies corrupt our morals and are what make the change in us to become evil or bad . The author of the novel Lord of the Flies, William Golding, however, believed that in a primitive environment, humans are evil. Without a society watching over us, humans will become barbaric brutes. Jean Jacques Rousseau(born 1712) was a philosopher whose beliefs were that humans, in a natural, primitive state without the influence of any societies, are good beings. People s uncorrupted morals are not washed away when they are without societies. Rousseau also believed that a society is what corrupts a human. He believed ownership of land or property is a lie, because the products of Earth are for all humans to share, saying: The first man who, having fenced in a piece of land, said This is mine, and found people naГЇve enough to believe him, that man was the true founder of civil society. From how many crimes, wars, and murders, from how many horrors and misfortunes might not any one have saved mankind, by pulling up the stakes, or filling up
  • 4. Alan Chalmers Use Of The Scientific Method Science enables critical evaluation of phenomena in the world around us, based on evidential hypotheses. The use of the scientific method has allowed reliable scientific claims to be made, leading to the belief that science is rational. A claim made on the grounds of scientific experimentation is more widely accepted than a statement perceived to be common sense. However, scientific experimentation cannot explain the rationality of science. Over time, the theories of philosophy in science have evolved in an attempt to explain why science is rational. In 1976, scientific philosopher, Alan Chalmers, presented his view on the scientific method: Scientific knowledge is proven knowledge. Scientific theories are derived in some rigorous way from ... Therefore, I don t believe that induction should be totally disregarded, but should be used in conjunction with Popper s theory of falsification. I agree with the fact that scientific knowledge is based on falsifiable conjectures and hypotheses, and no rock solid

Humor, agreeability, reliability, and success in business and in social life are valued over assertiveness, and health, family, serenity, and financial security are the highest valued attributes to Italians. Regional differences have made attitudes and behaviors in the north and south differ greatly. Italians in the north value punctuality, reliability, organization and economic success, while viewing time as something not to be wasted. However, there are many challenges faced by the prime minister and Malaysian that prevent the country from becoming a peaceful and harmonious country. • 8. Federal Government Voluntary The Federal Government is increasingly relying on the support of government contractors to support its daily operations. In fiscal year 2000 through 2005 alone, the Department of Defense s operations and maintenance costs increased 57%, from $133.4B to $209.5B, while service contract costs increased 73% from $55.4B to$95.4B in these past five years alone. These increases are primarily due to a swell of military obligations due to the war on terrorism coupled with no increases in personnel. The solution the OMB proposed is to ensure that there are clear guidelines established to ensure the critical functions are performed by federal employees, regardless if the function is determined to be inherently governmental. Assuming the statistics in the article are true, some of the major implications of the Federal Governments increased reliance of government contractors is first and foremost, using government contractors to perform inherently governmental functions, as it is not always easy to monitor and many times it is not always clear to what functions are actually inherently governmental. Another issue includes, and is increasingly common, is the increased reliance on contractors who become so involved with programs that there is no way to replace them due to the institutional knowledge they have of an agency and/or agency program. When considering the future of the governmental workforce, the increased reliance on the private sector could also inhibit the growth of the federal workforce. With budget cuts and stagnant wages, the government is not seen as a popular workplace choice with the millennial generation; this coupled this with the aging government workforce retiring in the coming years, there will not be enough employees being hired to take their place, causing a viscous cycle increasing the reliance on contracted assistance. Even today, the government is beginning to see the effects of this cycle with the acquisition workforce, causing for a loss of agency knowledge and manpower with the ever changing federal acquisition laws and regulations this will become quite a feat in feature years. Arguably, some also say that government contractors do not have a vested interest in the agency mission or the federal government in general; this often can lead to contractors looking out for their company vs. the welfare of the

With sportbeing such a focus in media and society, it often seems that sport and character are incompatible. Upset at how the media were currently portraying sports, he derided the journalists as amateur social scientists. Instead of trying to pigeon hole sports into some social science or social experiment , sport should be seen as rituals concerning human survival on this planet: liturgical enactments of animal perfection and the struggles of the human spirit to prevail. As Mr. Novak showcased throughout his lecture, sport captures the struggle of man throughout history. This struggle is personified through the linebacker tackling the halfback, the pitcher recomposing himself after giving up a run, or a runner shaking off cramping as she attempts to complete the marathon. Sports are the human experience. Mr. Schilling s talk set a tone unlike any other. That night, he presented a striking case for why character is influenced by sport. Drawing on his own personal experiences, Mr. Schilling said that he has come to learn that you can only gain wisdom through experiences. The experiences through sport that Mr. Schilling went through ultimately lead to the formation of the man that he is today. Sport also provides example of and experience with good leadership. Billie Holiday, perhaps the greates singer in the jazz history, delivers a soul emptying vocal lament over a groove as deep and dark as the history of lynching itself. In Holiday s unforgettable singing we can hear all the rage and resignation, the sorrow and determination, the bitterness and hope, as if her voice could carry the full emotional burden of the long and conflicted history of race in America. The song is heartbraking. The song is simple in its structure, having only three stanzas and 12 lines. The lines follow a rhyme pattern, where in each consecutive pair of lines has their ending thyming with each other. PERSONAL MONEY MANAGEMENT Submitted by: Daryl Roa Submitted to: Mr. Nico Del Valle I.Introduction: The idea of management implies that you have a goal or a set of goals in mind. Therefore, the first and most important part of money management is to clarify your own goals, commit to them and write them down. Why do you need money? What will you use your money for? How much do you need? For what? For When? Be specific and realistic. Different people have different needs and different wants. Prioritize your needs. Some wants and needs will have a higher priority than others. Make your priorities clear and allocate sufficient funds ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This can be a significant boost to your total savings. Finally, and most importantly, the numbers here are AVERAGES over the entire career of the subject. That s why the numbers look so daunting. Most people get raises over time, which, in theory, increase the amount they can save. Therefore, the more distant goals can be safely under funded for longer periods of time than the more immediate goals. If you have a 30,000 php/year job and get 3% raises every year for 20 years, you would finish with 54,183 php/year. Then, assuming you hit a plateau for the next 9 years, you would average 44,931 php/year over the span of your career. So, if you can t imagine ever saving 2,800 php per month, don t worry too much. The other factors mentioned above should lend a helping hand. However, those figures can be used as inspiration to let you achieve your goals faster. We rarely hear of people who complain because they became rich too early in life and found they could safely retire much earlier than they had first planned. Dealing with debt OK, so now you are living cheaper and as a result have some extra money left over from your immediate survival based monthly expenses. Time to slay the Debt Monster... or is it? Whereas it appears discrepant that the unclear Constitution could be useful, the disagreement is the case (Robertson, 2005). Americans regard the Constitution to be helpful for the reason that it allows for diverseness of views. In the history of America, a variety of thoughts would develop with alarming and formidable support through various factions (Robertson, 2005). In the American nation, he developed love of regulation, efficiency and organization. Hamilton strongly showed that America must possess credit for the development of government operations, trade, industry and business activities. He stressed the importance of the central government to take over the debts of the state that were unpaid in the Revolutionary period (Scott, 2008). The central government was endorsed by the American Constitution to charge and collect taxes as well as pay liabilities (Robertson, 2005). Such operations can be professionally handled by a central bank. Therefore, Hamilton was characterized by thinking creatively and critically as he observed the potential of the trade industry s immense power (Pancake, 1974). On the other hand, Thomas Jefferson was a great personality but did not stand out within his nation, which was observed by Americans as insufficiency of objective (Scott, 2008). Actually, Jefferson was not deficient of objective because he strongly fought for independence within the American nation. Jefferson strongly wanted the power of economy to depend on the sector of agriculture (Pancake, 1974). However, he realized the need for change and provided a support for the farmers to participate in the extension of global market. Jefferson trusted in the capability of American nation to create strategy

Once I have outlined Kant s view on the matter, I will then object to the conclusions, that Always treat a human being (yourself included) as an end, and never as a mere means (Kant pg.169), making his whole argument false. Immanuel Kant s Argument: 1.Good Will that could be considered good without limitation (Kant pg. 103) it is good in itself (Kant pg. 104) 2.The Notion of Duty In order to do so, we shall set before ourselves the concept of duty, which contains that of a good will though under certain subjective limitations and hindrance, which, however, far from concealing it and making It unrecognizable, rather bring it out by contrast and make it shine forth all the more brightly. • 24. The Effects Of Cultural Backgrounds On Interpersonal... Different cultural backgrounds can have certain effects on the interpersonal communication between students; and how cultural diversity benefits them socially and academically. Students expand their knowledge about other cultures by interacting with other students of different backgrounds. In doing so, they are growing socially and academically. According to Sarwari (2014), students that cooperate or interact with students from other cultures gain interpersonal communication skills, which are necessary in the workplace. Through interaction they acquire new perspectives and a better academic life (Sarwai 2014, Ibrahim 2014, Aziz 2014). Along the same lines as mentioned by Ramburuth, Welch (2005), classroom diversity is an ideal source that teachers can target to assist students in building their cross cultural competence (Ramburuth 2005, Welch 2005). Both, Sarwari and Ramburuth, portray how students can benefit from having different cultures within a classroom because it can give them the upper hand in a workplace environment or a social event due to the experience they get when interacting with individuals from other nationalities. Furthermore, stated by Taras, Rowney (2007), students bring with them a variety of backgrounds and types of knowledge which helps them come up with different solutions on how to approach a problem (Taras 2007, Rowney 2007). On the other hand, Ramburuth, Welch (2005) established that through multicultural group work students are
  • 25. Media Influence On Culture The media has a large influence on culture and our beliefs. Many people are influenced and affected by what the media says about their own culture or other cultures. The media can make some cultures seem better than they are and make some cultures seem worse than they are. For example, the police are given a bad reputation for shooting and killing people for no reason. This is manipulation of the media because they do not give people all of the details on why the police shot them. What actually happens is that the police are forced to shoot people because they are carrying weapons and refuse to put them down or even use them against police. Also, most news channels are sided with a certain political party. These news channels will try to hurt the reputations of opposing politicians, while trying to boost the reputations of the politicians in their party. A way I have seen this is that my grandfather, who is a democrat, watches one news channel, and my grandmother, who is a republican, refuses to watch that channel and will only watch a different one, saying that channel is just a bunch of stupid democrats. A third way people are influenced by the media is through celebrities. For example, if a celebrity says something controversial, their fans will sometimes agree with them and also believe what they said to be true. Although sometimes they have no idea what they are talking about and are just trying to sound intelligent but end up being a bad influence. People in our

There is a repeated use of the rosette, trefoil, quatrefoil, and cross motifs that help connect the exterior with the interior of the building. The media gives the impression that something is wrong with students when they enter the classroom and that is is the teacher s job to fix them of their issues. Because of this impression, today s teachers are faced with the challenge of overcoming this great myth that has been engraved in society s mind. • 31. Influence Of The British Colonial Empire During The Mid... During the mid 1650s, tensions between Spain and Britain were high and Britain was looking for a way to gain a basis of operations in the Caribbean. Through this, it would be easier for Britain to weaken the influence that Spain held over the New World. In 1654, a fleet sailed from England with the goal of capturing the island of Hispaniola. This effort proved unsuccessful, and the fleet was reluctant to return to Britain empty handed. The Spanish defenses at Jamaica were low which made the invasion of the island successful. Once the British had taken over Jamaica, they were able to develop a powerful colony with a commercial background based first on privateering and trade, and later on though sugar plantations and slavery. It was because of these institutions that helped the British colonial empire to become more powerful than that of any other nation at this time. Though Jamaica was not the original target for capture during the Anglo Spanish war, it soon proved to be one of Britain s most valuable colonies. Spain held the main sphere of power in the West Indies during the mid 1600s, controlling many of the islands. With this came a massive trade network and a large amount of political influence. All of this was not something the Britain was going to let slip away. What she needed was a base of operation in the West Indies from which the British could begin to interfere in Spanish affairs and gain part of the wealth that Spain was earning in the Americas. Renal failure is a noteworthy cause of morbidity and mortality after cardiac surgery.1,2 Acute kidney injury (AKI) occurs in about 20 40% of patients3 and is associated with a mortality rate of 8% compared with 0.9% in patients without AKI. AKI requiring hemodialysis in the postoperative period is uncommon (~ 1% to 5%), yet associated with a remarkably high mortality rate of 30% to 60%.4 (11 13). AKI increases the risk for ensuing chronic kidney disease and kidney failure, with its associated morbidity and mortality.5 Clinical prediction tools have been developed to estimate the possibility of cardiac surgery associated AKI (CSA AKI).8 10 These have recognized female gender, impaired left ventricular function, insulin requiring diabetes, emergency surgery, and abnormal baseline renal function as independent predictors of requirement for dialysis .23 Pathophysiological mechanisms of CSA AKI include decreased renal perfusion, lack of pulsatile flow, oxidative stress, hypothermia, atheroembolism, and inflammation 23. The main mechanism of injury is thought to be intraoperative ischemia reperfusion injury (IRI).20 Prolonged duration of cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) and its inflammatory response, and prolonged aortic cross clamping are the leading factors associated with an increased likelihood of cardiac ischemia reperfusion injury.22 Although

The child in the story is an innocent, wanting to please and gain acknowledgement and love from the very woman that is sickened by the very sight of the child. The mysterious reasons for the shunning of the child can be guessed at in committee, but without more history as to reasoning: the idea of the woman seeing the child as the one reason for her illness is the most conclusive idea to be had. A supporting clause for the woman being ever more resentful of the child is the description given when during the course of play, the woman is scratched enough to draw a small bead or two of blood, One of his sharp little claws ripped her flesh, just above the wrist... a thin red line materialized on the inside of her pale arm and spill over with tiny beads (6). The reaction to this was not to grimace and clean her arm or to take time to trim the child s finger nails to prevent such from happening again. Instead the woman says clearly Go away (6). Then lock herself away from the child. No explanation or reason given to the child but to ignore and satisfy vengeance towards what the woman views as something that
  • 36. Beyond the Divide Book Report Essay Book Report BEYOND THE DIVIDE By: Kathryn Lasky The reason I chose this book is because it is about a different culture and a different life than of anyone I know. Beyond the Divide is about a young Amish girl who felt suffocated living in the Amish community. Meribah Simon had grown up in the Amishcommunity and the strict rules of the community felt like walls closing in around her. Her father had been shunned by the elders of the community and when Meribah found out that her father was leaving to join the gold rush she decided to go with him. On the trip to California there were many good times and just as many bad; if not more. On the journey she and her father were traveling with a group of people that were going to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When some time had passed Meribah s father had gotten a wound from helping someone fix something. When their wagon got broken down they could not go on any further and the families with them did not want to take her father but they agreed to take her. She loved her father dearly and would not let him be left behind. The greed for gold caused many of the people to leave behind many of the others in the group for the sake of getting to the gold as soon as possible. I can t say that I wouldn t have been a better person than that because I have never been in such a situation. I only hope that my choices would be different and greed would be overcome with love and the choice to stay and help a human being in need. The determination to survive was greater than just giving up and dying. Meribah and her father were left behind to fend for themselves. The cold had come and it was her job to keep her and her father alive because her father was ill and could not help. She went out and hunted for things to build a little wagon on her own. There were many things others had thrown out so there were many things to choose from. I think that when faced with tough situations a person will somehow get through if they have the determination. Sometimes when I have to do something and there is no one to help or do it for me I feel as if I have that responsibility and I do what I have to do. Many changes came

Special Needs For Special Education Introduction/Purpose Fitzgerald, Ryan Fitzgerald (2015) reported that it has been an increase of children identified with special education needs in different countries in Europe. One of the explanation for this influx is the definition of special needs recently changed, which caused more children to fall under that category. Since more children qualify for special education, professionals and parents need training and guidance on meeting the needs of those students. In Ireland, there is a challenge in finding the best comprehensive and coordinated Early Intervention (EI) service because EI models varies in different areas, which cause inconsistencies (Fitzgerald et al., 2015). The two models that are mostly used in Ireland are the multidisciplinary team approach (MDA) and the transdisciplinary team approach (TDA). Some of the functions and characteristics of the MDA are the team members assess, create goals, work with and evaluate the child separately. In addition, the team provides home visits. Some of the functions and characteristics of the TDA approach are team members collaborate with each other, the team members cross disciplinary boundaries to increase communication and one team member is designated as a key worker, which is someone who is available as a link for families attending EI services (Fitzgerald et al., 2015, p.200).The purpose of this study is to discover parents experiences with EI models to identify efficient and effective strategies to implement to

Before They Were Blue In 1987, Chris, Phil and Matt found themselves in their mid 20s, sharing an apartment in New York City, each quite different but all in search of a creative outlet. Matt had once read that life was a succession of hitting plateaus right when you needed to meet a person or form a relationship to move to the next level. That was our experience, he said. Phil was the relative newcomer to the group; Matt and Chris had a history that extended back to high school. Matt was born into a fourth generation New York City family, his mother a writer and teacher, and his father a documentary film maker. He attended public elementary school, which he described as a big institution with no soul, 6 and then the Fieldston High School, a private institution. • 42. Galactic Empire Research Paper The Galactic Empire is the largest military force in the galaxy, with their only opposition being the Rebel Alliance. The AT AT Walker is arguably the most powerful terrestrial vehicle at the disposal of the Galactic Empire. The Empire employs the AT AT onto the battlefield as both a troop transport and an assault craft. The AT AT has been deployed in multiple battlefield environments, including the assault on Hoth and defense of the forest moon of Endor, with deadly effect. The AT AT is used when the Empire needs to assault an enemy position, or when a large amount of enemies need taken out. The AT AT is also utilized as a physiological deterrent. The AT At is a quadrupedal, highly armored vehicle, with the command deck and pilot s seat ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One such weakness is its inability to attack anything behind its main body. The walker would have to turn completely around to engage a target behind it thus exposing itself to the direction it was previously facing. One of the most commonly exploited weaknesses of the AT AT is it high center of gravity, making it top heavy. One example of the rebels taking advantage of this weakness is when the Empire assaulted Hoth. Rebel snow speeders attached tow lines toe the walker s legs and wrapped the line around it until the walker got snagged and toppled over. The walker also has a hard time attacking more than one target at a time. Another weakness is the flexible tunnel that runs between the cargo and troop areas of the craft and the head. One direct blast to this tunnel detonated the entire AT AT. The platting on the underbelly of the walker is slightly weaker and easier to damage. The AT AT also has no way to protect against troops beneath its main body, where the lightly armored hatch can be easily cut free and sabotaged. One other big weakness in the design of the AT AT is the fact that it is very slow compared to the smaller AT ST. Also the terrain it is in can limit it much farther, with it moving at its fastest on flat smooth ground and its slowest on steep rocky inclines, and heavily forested areas like the moon of Endor where its usage was far less than the
  • 43. William Marshall To what extent was William Marshall s life as a knight different from other knights of the time? Invariably it was not that much different than those of his peers until his later life. The one thing that set him apart from other knights was his fierce dedication to loyalty. William Marshall was not given consideration from his father; this was not unheard of for the time. Many knights throughout Crouch s work are said to have had, a similar life to that of William Marshall. His loyalty, dedication to duty and good looks were some of the few things that set him apart. This trend was seen most of his life. The tournament meant a great deal to Marshall during his early years. He had spent so much time training to fight in conflict, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Marshall knew his one true test would be balancing the kingdom against his future lord John. His loyalty to Richard was unceasing during his time away. Marshall was prepared to fight John with the other co justicars to defend the kingdom from John during Richard s captivity. One of the most telling things about Marshall s loyalty and state of mind comes through with the death of his brother. He pauses briefly on his way to meet his king fresh from captivity, only to meet with the widow then he is off again to meet the king. During the time it is accepted the king would have understood his late arrival but Marshall cared more about placing himself in high standing to his lord, showing his loyalty yet again. When John ascended the throne he also saw in Marshall someone he could use. Although during his rule Marshall spoke against him and they had a falling out over Ireland, Marshall remained loyal to John until his death; even fighting against his own son. When John died his loyalty was rewarded with the high honor of being placed regent of the kingdom. It is my interpretation that this is one of the reasons Marshall is so highly regarded. Many knights had the same life as Marshall, because he is regarded as a hero by the History that is referenced often in Crouch s work, and because we know so much more about his life a much bigger to do is made about
