All dentists must operate under a license to practice. Only after completing dental
school and successfully passing a detailed two part exam is this license granted.
Criteria for dental licenses differs for every state. Your general dentist has seen his

great dentist.
Ever wonder what those three letters after your dentist s last name mean? Well,
after undergraduate graduation, all prospective dentists go to school for an

Peanut Butter And Jelly Research Paper
Peanut butter and jelly, these two ingredients make the perfect combination for
sandwich. I believe that I can be the peanut butter and NYU can be the jelly. I can
confidently say this because I am the person who loves living in a big city like
New York, and also I am a person who loves trying different activities that New
York can only offer. Although, I grew up in a place where there are less things to
do, I wanted something completely different. Living in Mongolia for 18 years made
me a person who can adapt to different situations extremely easily. Therefore, NYU
and myself can make the perfect peanut butter and jelly sandwich. So why NYU?
Why does NYU attract me more than any other schools in America? NYU could

Mold Allergies Research Paper
To control mold allergies, the source of its existence must be diminished and
avoided for as long as possible mostly for people with allergies. In a person with
allergies, their immune system reacts to a foreign substance and it makes antibodies
that identifies non harmful allergens as harmful ones. Most allergies cannot be cured
but there are ways to relieve the symptoms and control the exposure.
Mold grows wherever moisture, oxygen, and the chemicals it needs to thrive are
present. It commonly grows outside on logs or trees, moist leaves, and many damp
areas. Inside homes, mold thrives in warm, moist, and dimly lit areas. In homes it is
important to watch for mold in places that can hold moisture or be very wet like
damp basements or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mold itself doesn t contain allergens but its spores do. Spores become airborne and
can be inhaled then symptoms can start once in your system. Common symptoms
include Nasal stuffiness, eye irritation, wheezing, aggravation of asthma symptoms,
and cold and flu like symptoms. (AchooAllergy.com, n.d.). There are a variety of
steps to lessen the risk of mold allergies in the household when someone has
allergies. One way is to monitor humidity; using a humidifier alongside a humidity
gauge keeping humidity between 40% and 50% can help especially in the
summer. Since spores are the real culprits for causing allergy symptoms, a HEPA
air purifier (or any purifier) can remove spores. People with allergies can trap the
spores before it gets to them and spreads elsewhere and make more mold. Using
mold resistant shower curtains or mold reducing squeegees can get rid of excess
moisture in bathrooms. Avoid soaking bathroom carpet rugs upon exiting the shower.
Instead of the fluffy or frilly carpets, use washable throw rugs. Allow moisture to get
out by opening windows or ventilating areas where humidity can be

It s better to have tried and failed than not to have tried at all Do you agree?
The saying actions speak louder than words can be applied to this scenario. Many
people often dare to dream but fear stops them from ever moving forward on their
goals. The fear of failure, of not knowing if it is possible to accomplish what may
seem like the most unrealistic dream a person sets out to achieve. One example we
can learn from is one of the greatest swimmer the world has seen, Ian Thorpe.
Four time Swimming World s Swimmer of the Year, Ian Thorpe once said, I think it

that I ve been prepared to put myself on the line there. Till today, these words... Show

Speaking from personal experience, failure is the mother of success, and without
overcoming the challenge posed to me, I would not make it a step further. For
example, ever since I stepped on the podium in the primary school swimming
nationals, I have always wanted to have the chance to do it again in the secondary
school, scoring more points for my school. This year was the last year the school
nationals where I could have a chance on stepping on the podium once again and I
made use of the opportunity I was given. I started training extremely hard, to a
point where I was at the pool at 5 in the morning and back again after school at 4 in
the afternoon for strength as well as water training. The number of times I would
turn up could go up to ten times a week. This arduous task went on for four to five
months and in between, I still had to make sure that I was keeping up with school
curriculum. At the recent national schools, I competed and instead was placed 5th,
missing the podium by a whopping one second. Although I failed to reach the goal I
set out to achieve, I knew that there was nothing else I could do as
I have always wanted to represent the country in the Combined School Games and
the recent National Schools Swimming Championship would have been my chance
to qualify for the games. I started training extremely hard, to a point where I was at

Dna Damage, Repair, And Dna Methylation Essay
Introduction:
Modification of damaged DNA seems to be an understudied subject, there is much to
understand on the restoration of DNA damage, repair and DNA methylation.
Genomic DNA can be modified by methylation but much of it is affected on a gene
when silenced. When epigenetic modification has been implicated with cancer and
aging it causes DNA methylation to also have an impact on the double strand of
DNA analysis. Modification as such provoke deteriorating changes like aging found
in multicellular organisms and DNA damage may magnify biochemical pathways
that regulate a cells growth or control DNA replication with DNA repair. In the
article DNA Damage, Homology Directed Repair, and DNA Methylation written by
Concetta Cuozzo, Antonio Porcellini, Tiziana Angrisano, et al. they hypothesize how
DNA damage and gene silencing may induce a DNA double strand break within a
genome as well as when DNA methylation is induced by homologous recombination
that it may somewhat mark its reparation through a DNA segment and protect its
cells against any unregulated gene expression that may be followed by DNA damage.
The experiments used to demonstration how gene conversion can modify methylation
pattern of repaired DNA and when that occurs methylation is able to silence the
recombined gene. When exploring the molecular mechanisms that link DNA damage
and the silencing gene then there is an induced double strand break that can be found
at a specific location or DNA sequence in where the

Essay on Black Boy
In the book Black Boy, we see many black people in the south dealing with many
hardships. One of the most prominent problems for blacks seemed to be the Jim
Crow laws. These laws withheld blacks from society, breaking them apart from
whites and making it very hard for them to live an even close to normal life. Black
people couldn t express their own ideas at all.
They had to call all white men sirs and all white women ma am . They couldn t act
the slightest bit superior to whites. It was almost impossible for black people to
make a decent living in the south, and they also had to take the abuse dealt to them
by he whites without even attempting ant resistance. Blacks in the south also had to

Throughout the book we see these other people dealing with the problems of an
extremely racist society. We also see how each person in Richards life deals with it
differently. There are a few people and insience that stick out in my mind
especially. The first one would have to be an incident with Shorty. Shorty has dealt
with racism his whole life, and he has learned to deal with it as he has grown. We
see a great example of how Shorty deals on page 269Shorty is faced with the
problem of no money, such as many other southern blacks were, and we see that he is
willing to do anything for any amount of money.
You can kick me in the ass for a quarter (269,wright) As this happens Richard
witnesses the whole thing and we can see that he is very disappointed in the way
Shorty dealt with the situation. He can t understand how he can put himself in that
kind of degrading position, and Shorty simply answers.
But a quarter can t pay for what he did to you!
But we can see Shorty thinks differently.
Another example of a person that dealt differently with the Racism around him was
Uncle Hoskins. He was
a man just trying to make his own in this world. Minding his own business, trying to
run his own business
so he could support his family. We see that he owes some money to some white people

part at the time of his killing, but if you look deeper you see that the most

Columbia Disaster Research Paper
The Columbia disaster, a catastrophic event where a space shuttle broke apart
during re entry. All seven of the crew members were killed on that day. This event
really shook up NASA, both good and bad. The following days, tons of ground
reports were done, looking for the debris of the spacecraft. They also analyzed the
footage and other reports of the shuttle. This is what happened after the Columbia
disaster; so that begs the question, what s the full story of the Columbia disaster?
On January 16th, 2003, the spacecraft named Columbia was launched on this day
and this is where the story begins. The Columbia was the first ever spaceship to
reach into space in 1981; and unfortunately, this would be its 28th and final journey

bit of the recorded research (Dowling What Caused the Space Shuttle Columbia
Disaster? ). They also found out that this catastrophe could have been avoided if
word of the hole got out. They could ve had the Columbia wait till the 15th and had
the following planned spacecraft, the Atlantis, could ve moved up its launch to the
10th, leaving a small window for repairs or for them to get off the Atlantis (
Columbia disaster ). Subsequently, major changes were made to the space
program, particularly in spacecraft safety (Moskowitz How the Columbia Shuttle
Disaster Changed Spacecraft Safety Forever ). They added new practices and new
rules for space crafts to be conditioned for space (Moskowitz How the Columbia
Shuttle Disaster Changed Spacecraft Safety Forever ). One of the biggest
consequences of this was the space shuttle program being grounded for more than 2
years (Dooling, Columbia disaster ). The next space shuttle launch wouldn t be until
July 26, 2005 (Dooling, Columbia disaster ). However, the next space shuttle within
the fleet that the Columbia was a part of wouldn t launch until the Fourth of July, in

World War Two had sharply exposed the imbalances in Britain s social, economic
and political structures. In 1942, a report by Sir William Beveridge, chairman of a
Ministry of Health committee, had advocated a system of national insurance,
comprehensive welfare for all and strategies to maintain full employment. The
Beveridge Report formed the basis of Labour pledges in the 1945 election and
resulted in a landslide victory. Clement Attlee s (Labour, 1945 1951) government
successfully harnessed the wartime sense of unity to create the National Health
Service, a national insurance scheme, a huge programme of nationalisation (including
the Bank of Englandand most heavy industries) and a massive building program. He

This was due to the fact they were seen as a democratic ally and the US was afraid

made Italy a safe haven for immigrants. Due to the sudden influx of people, suburbs

Life Style Inventory (Lsi)
Part I: Personal Thinking Styles
My primary thinking style is dependent. This style fell into the high range of the
LSI Style Circumplex with a 96 percentile score. Dependent thinking style is
originates in a need for security and self protection: dependent people typically feel
that they have very little control over their lives. This type of behavior may be long
standing, or due to temporary life changes such as a new job, a promotion, an
illness, or the break up of a close relationship. When dependent behavior occurs as a
result of a temporary life change, the feelings of dependency tend to diminish as the
particular situation is resolved. I feel that the result for dependent style is that the

that I am weak and always needed other for guide, I can not think for myself. I

my voice be heard. I wanted to have self respect, I want to be able to feel
accomplishment. I wanted to show that I could make decision and not to feel
helplessness. I want to learn new things, which would help me acquire new skill to
help recognize that would effort counts, and may reduce my feeling of
helplessness. I must realize to trust my own judgment, and demonstrate that I
believe in myself by being more outspoken and speak up in groups. I want to have a
sense of control over my own life, be able to relax around other people. Have to
freedom to be myself, reduced symptoms of stress. When I am able to accomplish
that then I would be able to relax and have more faith in myself.
Part II: Impact On Management Style The impact of the dependent style can have an

Essay on Wilderness Therapy and Conventional Therapy
With an increasing number of individuals seeking mental health services and the
issues these individuals face becoming deeper and more difficult to treat with
conventional therapy, there is a greater need for more modern and creative therapy.
Even more so, individuals are seeking treatment at a younger age and need more
interventions to fit their needs. Wilderness therapyis a newer intervention found to be
effective with youth and adolescents. This paper will examine the major components
of wilderness therapy, the mental health disorders treated, the setting in which
wilderness therapy is used, the appropriate client populations, multicultural
considerations, and the limitations of this therapy.

Factors such as relationships with program staff, solos, mastering outdoor activities,
and observing the world are thought to be positive experiences that facilitated change
as well (Foundations of Adventure Therapy, 2007).
There are seven key elements to wilderness therapy that include: engagement in
action centered therapy, use of unfamiliar environment or situations, manufacturing
and maintenance of change, application of activities for continuous assessment, focus
on group development and community, solution focused therapy, and a shift in
therapist roles. (Tucker, Javorski, Tracy, Beale, 2013). Other constructs that are
central to wilderness therapy are challenge by choice, risk and stress, using natural
logical consequences, and learning through experience (Foundations of Adventure
Therapy, 2007).
Wilderness therapy has been found to be effective for youth with a number of issues
including traumatic brain injury and eating disorders, but has been used more
commonly with those dealing with behavioral issues such as peer/school/family
relations and substance abuse. In one meta analysis study, 858 adolescents enrolled
in wilderness therapy programs were examined and results showed significant
change in areas such as behavior, mood, and substance abuse based on self and
parent reports (Bettmann et al., 2013). At a 24 month follow up 80% of parents and
95% of adolescents
Alcohol and Despair Depicted in Ernest Hemingway s
Short...
Throughout the short stories of Ernest Hemingway, alcohol inevitably lends its
company to situations in which desperation already resides. In an examination of his
earlier works, such as In Our Time, a comparison to later collections reveals the
constant presence of alcohol where hopelessness prevails. The nature of the
hopelessness, the desperation, changes from his earlier works to his later pieces, but
its source remains the same: potential, or promise of the future causes a great deal of
trepidation and lamentthroughout Hemingway s pieces. Whether the desperation
comes from trepidation or lament depends on the view pointfrom which it is
observed, or rather, experienced.
In many of the works written early in his career, ... Show more content on

In moving from the earlier stories of In Our Time to stories published in later
collections, the shift in the attitude of the characters toward potential and promise
becomes clear.
Indian Camp in In Our Time, depicts Nick Adams a small boy, exposed to death for
the first time. This story does not describe desperation nor does it include alcohol;
rather, it demonstrates the promise held in the possibilities of life in Nick s final
thoughts: In the early morning on the lake sitting in the stern of the boat with his
father rowing, he felt quite sure that he would never die (Hemingway 95). Despite
the events he witnesses in the camp, Nick s future seems boundless, as well as
endless. Potential has no limits, and the pressures of fulfilling potential are, as yet,
unknown to him. This first story in Hemingway s first published collection serves as
a fitting point of departure for the descriptions of desperation that follow; Nick is
free from the weight of potential, and judging by his enjoyment of the idyllic setting
that surrounds him, it seems that he looks forward to the promise of life.
The Three Day Blow offers the reader one of the first opportunities to observe the
trepidation and fear of future potential. The story happens to feature Nick Adams, but
as other stories are examined, different characters will also exhibit

Essay on War on Drugs
The so called War on Drugs, as declared by the Nixon administration in the signing of
the Comprehensive Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Act of 1970, marked the
beginning of the current era of mandatory minimum sentencing, racism, privatized
prisons, and a powerful constituency that profits as a result of the prohibitionof drugs.
Psychoactive substances have been apart of the human experience as long as humans
have walked the earth. There is little hope that drugproduction will ever be curtailed,
so long as there is a demand; a demand that has remained steady even though it has
been forty years since the beginning of said war. As Judge James P. Gray from the
Superior Court of Orange County has so plainly put it: Where did this policy... Show

One thing that must be made obvious is that the government makes money
regardless of the results that they produce. A good majority of the criminal justice
system is paid with this budgeted drug money. There has been a historical increase
in judges, lawyers, police officers and the creation of entire government
organizations that directly make money as a result of the prohibition. It is not
only law enforcement side that would like to see prohibition remain intact; it is
also the drug dealers that would like the policies to remain as they are. (Harvey)
Prohibition causes the handling of drugs to become a risky business and, therefore,
drives the prices up astronomically allowing for a business that has a profit in the
thousands of percent with no tax. Ricky Ross, the most infamous crack cocaine
dealer in Los Angeles, while being interviewed in jail told the interviewer, I became
addicted to the money and also the power too I believe (Booth). These people will
have the opportunity to make extraordinary amounts of money so long as current
prohibition stays intact. There is clearly something wrong if both the government and
drug dealers would both like to see prohibition perpetuated.
In some cases, it so happens that the government is working both sides of the law. It
has been alleged that the CIA, with its support of the Contra resistance group in
Nicaragua, has actively participated in the importation of cocaine while being
protected from prosecution as a

An elderly female patient presented to the emergency department with obvious
deformity in the distal aspect of her forearm following a fall onto her left arm. The
patient had fallen backwards onto her left side and landed on her wrist which was

primary pathology the doctor had suspected was a Smith s fracture (also known as

The Golden Age Of A Civil War Across China Essay
Daoism appeared as a reaction to a civil war across China, known as the warring
states period, which caused a wide feeling of civil unrest. The war went on for
nearly two hundred and fifty years and spread across the Zhou Dynasty, which was
divided into eight separate states. Daoist believed that war was a result of
excessive desire, and only through modest desire will people and the state
experience peace and unity. Daoist argued that desire and all actions must be
natural, and we must return to nature to establish our balance. We must return to
nature and to a time like the Golden Age, that came before the Zhou Empire and the

people had relied on agriculture in small villages with a trusted government that

world we have strayed far from nature, for reason and excessive desires have

states in the Zhou Dynasty, we have excessive desires causing unnatural behaviors.
These unnatural behaviors keep many people from finding the way, but the

United States Postal Service In Flying Like An Eagle
For over two centuries, people relied on the United States Postal Service (USPS) as
a way to receive their letter and packages from people around the country. It is their
only way where a person can obtain a parcel when there are no technologies to
assist them. Nowadays, in the modern world, there are different kinds of ways
where one can receive a package or a letter, from an email or other companies. This
results in the USPS decreasing its values. In order for the USPS to keep up with
the fast paced society, it should consider changing their ways of working. Before
when automations were nowhere to be seen, people demand USPS to deliver their
mails everyday. Sometimes when there is a large package, it might take weeks for
the letters to reach their destination. So retailers assist delivering the packages in a
more efficient way. In order for the USPS continue to be on... Show more content on

that of the real world but the world of the characters itself. For instance, in the movies

Income Inequality in Latin America:
Cause and Effect
When a young Che Guevara embarked on his motorcycle trip across Latin America,
he meant to discover himself and explore the world. Instead, he discovered much
more than he ever expected to and it completely changed his views on the economic
and social status of Latin America. He discovered the truth of working conditions, the
poverty in certain areas and the effect that it has, and he was inspired by the
camaraderie amongst the indigenous people. He came face to face with hunger,
disease, and much more that the poorest people of Latin America have had to face. In
a quest for change, it brought these issues to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

With inequality like this, it is apparent that there needs to be significant economic
change in the area.
Inequality had been present in Latin America for a long time. But, it is hard to do
something about without first knowing and understanding the causes. Obviously, this
is a complex situation that cannot be boiled down to one root cause, but it is
important to highlight a few things that perpetuate, strengthen, and may have started
income inequality. One of the biggest causes is inflation, which is something that
affects every economy in the world, just not always to this extent. Inflation is a
direct effect of Latin America s governmental policies, which have proved to
increase the money supply in circulation, thus devaluing the local currency while
prices continue to rise. During this, salaries often do not get raised at the same rate
to accommodate, and poverty progresses. What s more, as inflation continues, the
value of people s savings also dwindles, as that amount stays the same while the
currency value drops rapidly. Retired citizens are then left to suffer as the savings
they survive on change into virtually nothing. Those who are already wealthy,
however, can avoid this effect on their wealth by saving their money in foreign
currencies abroad. Because of this, they often see their wealth continue to grow,
while the poor with only access to their local currency get

Frotn the perspective of both research about organizations and consultation to

current organizational tnodcls that do little more than describe or depict. A case in

Film Analysis Of Slumdog Millionaire
Rising from the slum to become a millionaire is a one in a million chance. Yet
Jamal, the main character of Slumdog Millionaire, has raised his life from living in
the slums to living the life a millionaire. With their mother dying, Jamal and his
brother started off in the slums basically living off trash and garbage. From
experience, Jamal was able to recall certain events and situations to help him answer
certain question on the Who wants to be a millionaire show. For example, Jamal was
able to answer the question, What does God Rama hold in his right hand? by simply
remembering the time after his mother was killed and him and his brother, Salim,
were being chased. (Thesis) Not only did the plot of the movie made the movie
interesting and amazing to watch, but the acting, aging through camera transitions,
and overall goal of Jamal to find Latika throughout conflicts made Slumdog
Millionaire an amazing movie.
The acting of Slumdog Millionaire seemed to be integrated into the environment
and the setting of the slums. With the use of real children from the slums, the
movie seems to be very real as the children seem to already fit the descriptions of
being part of the slums. Living in India, I was able to understand the conditions and
the lives of the people that lived around the slums. These people are recognized by
the majority of the public as being savages and uncivilized. The child actors that
played Jamal and Salim in the movie fit the description of being savages and
uncivilized. For example, Jamal jumped into the pile of poop from the outdoor
bathroom to get to Amitabh Bachchan to get his autograph. And as for Salim, Salim
fit the description of being uncivilized due to the fact he had no regards for other
people s lives. A perfect example is when Salim was in charge of all the other
children in the child slave ring, Salim at one point took away a baby from another
girl to give it to Latika. In this scene, Latika didn t want to hold the baby, but had to
hold the baby because Salim threaten to drop it. Overall, the acting of Slumdog
Millionaire was amazing because of many reasons. Reasons including the fact that the
actors that played Jamal, Salim, and Latika were real children from the slums of India,
The Causes of Crime. What are the causes of crime essay
For centuries, the one plague that human civilization faces is a disease that has no
evident cure crime. Before one can even try to find solutions for it, one must
understand what a crime is and the nature of crime. Crime itself is defined as any
offence harmful against society. The nature of crime however deals with the motives
and causes of crime, which has no one clear cut explanation. There are several
different theories on the cause of crime such as heredity, gender and mental defects,
but each one is not substantial enough to explain crime and why it takes place. The
theory on heredity as being the source of crime is based on the idea that criminal
activity is predisposed by human genes. Gender being the root of crime suggests that

before the age of about three. What is more significant is that this capacity cannot

strongly when infants and toddlers are empathically cared for by the same few

During the early stages of childhood, the most important part of development takes
place. If there is a significant lack of attention and interaction during this time, the
child may end up being drawn away from society and isolated. Sometimes it is the
parents fault for not being able to raise socially competent children and other times
it is institutions such as public schools. Certain children need that extra help or
support that may not be provided at school. These children then end up turning to
crime such as theft or drug dealing in order to compensate. Their life lesson is in
the streets not in the homes or schools. Also, this idea of social norms put such an
emphasis on acceptance that children who do not fit in become alienated. A healthy
life needs some acceptance from friends and family, but if a child experiences a lack
of it, the results could be tragic. Take for

1)Ellis sees the founding of the United States as phenomenal because the U.S.
brought together people of all different factions and beliefs in order to overthrow the
reigning regime. He also believes it is phenomenal because the United States was
able to survive and become a nation that was brought up upon an argument between
state and federal sovereignty. In addition, to fight in the revolution and win against
Britain s best army and navy, the U.S. had to carve its own path with unprecedented
steps. Dues to the challenges the republic faced and overcame, the founding of the
United States is truly phenomenal in Ellis s eyes.

our country, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Those who saw nearsighted felt that America had no sense of national unity, and
nothing to bring them together except for the common wish to separate from Britain.
4)Combining the opposite perspectives that Ellis writes about on the founding of our
country, the central paradox of the revolutionary era is created. This paradox is that
despite the massive advantages America had provided by geographic isolation and
bountiful natural resources, the points used to justify the separation from England
are the same reasons that overwhelmed the government leaders who would oversee
the new population and unify the 13 sovereign states.
5)Critics of the Constitutional Convention highlight many of the same faults in the
convention. One of these criticisms is that the convention was only to revise the
Articles of Confederation not to replace them. In addition, the meetings of the
Convention were held in secrecy and the matters discussed stayed private from
majority of the average citizens. The reason behind this was because the fifty five
delegates were a group of elites that were hardly a good representation of the
population as a whole. Another criticism was that the southern delegates abused these
meetings by using them to obtain assurances that slavery would not be abolished in
the south.
6)The first major liability of the United States was that no one had ever established a

characteristics and the influences of the environment are implicit simply as how
Confucius philosophy gave birth to a well defined Eastern bureaucracy and how it

of the reported GDP increase from 4% of 2012 to 6.4% of 2014, the Philippine

Willy Loman s Metheric Body
When man lives and weaves in the world of flowing tones, he himself is saturated by
these tones. When he returns, from the Devachanic world, his own consciousness
soul, intellectual, and sentient soul are permeated with the vibrations of the
Devachanic realm; he has these within himself, and with them he penetrates the
physical world. When man has absorbed these vibrations, they enable him to work
from his sentient soulonto the sentient body and the etheric body. Having brought
these vibrations of Devachan along with him, man can convey them to his etheric
body, which then resonates with these vibrations. The nature of the etheric and the
sentient bodies is based on the same elements, on spiritual tone and spiritual
vibrations. The etheric... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When a person hears music, the impression is experienced first in the astral body.
Then, the tones are consciously sent to the etheric body, and man overcomes the
tones already there. This is the basis both of the pleasure of listening to music and of
musical creativity.
Along with certain musical sounds, something of the astral body flows into the
etheric body. The latter now has received new tones. A kind of struggle arises
between the sentient body and the etheric body. If these tones are strong enough to
overcome the etheric body s own tones, cheerful music in the major key results.
When music is in a major key, one can observe how the sentient body is the victor
over the etheric body. In the case of minor keys, the etheric body has been victor over
the sentient body; the etheric body has opposed the vibrations of the sentient body.
When man dwells within the musical element, he lives in a reflection of his spiritual
home. In this shadow image of the spiritual, the human soul finds its highest
exaltation, the most intimate connection with the primeval element of man. This is
why even the most humble soul is so deeply affected by music. The most humble
soul feels in music an echo of what it has experienced in Devachan. The soul feels at
home there. Each time he listens to music man senses, Yes, I am from another

Dynamic Character: Tally Youngblood The Uglies is a dystopian novel about a
young girl living in a futuristic society with a very controlling government. Scott
Westerfeld s character, Tally Youngblood, is the protagonist of his novel. Tally
changes and progresses as her story is told, making her a very dynamic character.
As you read you discover that she an adolescent who is selfish and will do anything
to become a Pretty , but as her story goes on her traits change from a selfish,
immature, and outspoken girl to a brave, mature, and caring young woman. Tally
Youngbloods characteristics alter so much due to being forced onto a journey into
foreign land to sell out her friend or else her dream of becoming a Pretty will never
come true. Dynamic is a constant change, activity, or progress (Google Dictionary).
This word describes Tally Youngblood perfectly. In the novel the Uglies
, Tally is a
constant evolving character. In the beginning chapters, she expresses how much
she wants to become a Pretty to anyone who will listen. She is very stubborn and
knows exactly she wants; therefore, she will not let anything get in the way of that,
even if that means selling out her best friend. Tally is an immature girl causing
trouble and play tricks in the first half of the novel, but her traits change once she
is put into a position where it is either Dr. Cable s way or no way. She is alone
braving the dangers and elements on her journey outside the city and into the
Smoke. She becomes more brave and intelligent. Tally s journey causes her to
mature and realize that not everything is about becoming a Pretty . Tally
Youngblood is so dynamic because she progresses and changes throughout the
entire novel. Scott Wersterfeld s character, Tally Youngblood, has such a diverse
personality to accommodate with the society she grew up in. Tally grows up in a
futuristic society with a government that trains you to hate yourself, because of this
society she grew up immature, selfish, and self absorbed. All the uglies are not
supposed to want to stay ugly because the one life goal they are intended to have is
to become a Pretty and that is it. Tally s diversity kicks in when she is challenged
and has to put her dream to

Differences Between The American And The Haitian
Revolution
The 18th and early 19th centuries were times of great development and turmoil in the
Americas., as fledgling nations fought against colonial powers for their right to
sovereignty. Two of these nations, the United States and Haiti achieved independence
through a mixture of warfare and diplomacy, with dynamic leadership also critical to
their success. The difference between them was surrounding race, as Haitian slaves
fought for freedom as well as independence. Military altercations were key during
both the Haitian revolution and the revolutionary war in the United States. North
American battles with the British began in 1775 with the Battles of Lexington and

By 1792, the French had sent troops in to try and restore order. These battles
differed from the battles in the United States because they centered on ideas of
racial equality. Poorly treated slaves and angry mixed race citizens fought not only
for their right to have an independent nation, but for a literal freedom and equality
for themselves. When Toussaint L Overture, a former slave, took over the Haitian
armies in 1793, he was fighting both the British and the French, two armies fighting
to possess an island rich in resources, including the slaves who were fighting against
them. He was a powerful leader and an intelligent military strategist, and his capacity
to control the rebelling slaves greatly improved their organization. Battles with the
French dragged on until 1803, when Napoleon no longer had the resources to sustain
the warfare and withdrew his troops. By 1804, Haiti was an independent republic
governed by Jean Jacques Dessalines, who in a final expression of racial tension had
the remaining white citizens massacred. Both the United States and Haiti helped
secure their independence through successful military campaigns, but Haiti s
independence had race as a focal point in a way colonists of the United States did not

Rhetorical Devices In The Convergence Of The Twain By...
The construction of the Titanic started on March 31, 1909 and finished on May 31,
1911. During the process, constructors made sure to make the Titanic as attractive as
possible, accessorizing it with many iconic features such as the ship s grand staircase
and its promenade deck. Many people at the time believed that the Titanic would
never sink, therefore naming it the Unsinkable ship after it has set sail. Unfortunately,
the unsinkable ship collided with an icebergon April 14, 1912, claiming the lives of
1,500 passengers. As a result, the Titanic broke into two and sunk, leaving behind
its legacy. Thomas Hardy provides a poem that acknowledges the sinking of the
Titanic. Unlike the many similar reactions of grief and sorrow that the people had,
Hardy approaches the event differently. In the poem, The Convergence of the Twain,
Thomas Hardy uses a variety of rhetorical devices to express his disdain for the
vanity of humans during the first half of the poem and to explain that fate s work
resulted in the outcome of the Titanic during the second half of the poem.
Throughout the first five stanzas of the poem, Hardy utilizes allusion, juxtaposition,
and alliteration to emphasize the idea that the excessive pride of humans is useless
and it has led to the downfall of the Titanic. Therefore, Hardy provides insight on the
vanity of those that built the ship. He describes the people as the Pride of Life. The
description alludes to the book of John in the Christian Bible.
Documentary And Narrative Filmmaking
What makes documentary filmmaking distinct to narrative filmmaking? There are a
few contrasting objectives for both types of filmmaking that distinguishes them
from each other. Simply put, narrative filmmaking is a movie with a pre written
script, actors and a story which is already crafted before they start shooting. while
documentaries are filmmaking where real life events are captured, and a script is
usually written afterwards. Narrative films rely on the three act structure which goes
Setup, Confrontation and Resolution or in other words, a beginning, middle and

Focusing on the 9/11 terrorist attack and how the Bush administration handled it.
Many believed Moore had an agenda against President George W. Bush while
making the film and edited the movie to show the audience what he wanted them
to see. The opening lines from Moore in the film are, We worked hard on creating a
work of cinema that would move people not just politically but on an emotional
and visceral level. I hope we have made a contribution to this art form we love so
much. Unfortunately for Moore, debate sparked over Moore s true intentions while
making this film. Many believed it was to attack Bush who was running for re
election in 2004 as the movie was due for release around the same time Bush began
campaigning. The crux of the debate surrounding the film involved Moore s satirical
styling. Some argued Moore tried too hard to make his movie entertaining and, in the
process, would often distort pieces of information. (Bryd, 2017) This is yet another
possible example of filmmakers showing the audience what they want to see and not
the complete truth. While it is not proven that Moore did bend the truth, therefore it
is nearly impossible to create a comprehensive code of ethics when making a
documentary because Filmmakers can and sometimes will break the rules to show
what they want to, be it to expose the truth or a personal
The Health Belief Model ( Hbm ) Essay
Out of all the vaccine preventable diseases, pertussis challenges most infectious
diseases in severity and importance in children. In 2014, the incidence rate of
pertussis in the United States increased by 15%, with almost 33,000 cases reported
(Centers for Disease Control, 2015). The bacterium that causes this illness attacks an
unprotected immune by attaching to the lining of the respiratory system. After initial
attack, begins the release of the toxins that prohibit the respiratory system from
working functionally. Because of this, mucus builds up in the lungs, causing an
uncontrollable cough that makes breathing difficult (Tan et al, 2005). This illness is
very contagious and almost always deadly in children. However, it can be prevented
with proper vaccination. This problem can be addressed with the Health Belief Model
(HBM), which encourages preventive health actions in order to prevent unwanted
adverse conditions, with the idea that action depends on the value and expectancy of
the behavior. The HBM attempts to explain and predict behaviors by focusing on
attitudes and beliefs of individuals that are represented by six distinct constructs.
These constructs include, perceived susceptibility, perceived severity, perceived
benefits, perceived barriers, cues to action, and self efficacy. In addition, these six
constructs are modified by other variables including, age, gender, ethnicity,
personality, socioeconomics, and knowledge (Sharma, 2017). The HBM
acknowledges that
The Importance Of Faith In Nonfiction Literature Review
Authors write for many different reasons. One of these reasons is to teach
something to their readers. Specifically through the nonfiction articles we read the
authors showed us faith. Faith is defined as an allegiance to duty or a person. Three
people that showed extreme faith are Melba Patillo Beals, Malala Yousufzai, and
Morrie Schwartz. Melba Pattillo Bealsused her faith to become one of the first black
students to integrate into an all white high school. Malala Yousufzai also used her
faith to stand up to the Taliban and stand up for women s rights to education. Finally,
Morrie Schwartz used his faith in order to stay strong while facing death from
Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis(ALS). Overcoming challenges can be difficult, but
authors use nonfiction literature to emphasize the importance of having faith in
those situations. Being one of the first black students in a white high school would
not be an easy task, but Melba Patillo Beals was very strong in her faith. Everyday
at school she experienced physical and mental abuse. Finally one day someone
stood up for the nine students and set an example for Melba on how to have faith in
tough situations. Tiny, erect, and determined, she stood there all alone between us
and our attackers, demanding they leave us alone. One by one she challenged the
leaders, calling them by name, telling them to get to class or there would be hell to
pay. I had to respect her for what she did. Whether or not she favored integration, she
Why Were There Two Revolutions In Russia In 1917
Why were there two revolutions in Russia in 1917? Why did the Provisional
Government exist for mere months, yet the Bolsheviks had consolidated their
authority in the country by Lenin s death in 1924?
Between February and October in 1917, two revolutions occurred due to the
Governments failing to fulfill the needs of the Russian people. With the Tsar in
power during Bloody Sunday that formed riots and Government unrest and also the
Russo Japanese War and World War One that left the Russian people humiliated and
in disarray. The reign of the Provisional Government was short due to failures to
provide land and food to the peasants and also the failure to pull Russia out of World
War One caused chaos throughout Russia once more. The rise... Show more content

The Government corruption was immense, the Russian economy was backwards, the
Tsar repeatedly crumbled the Dumas, Russia s involvement in Russo Japanese war
and World War One was disastrous, the fact that he ignored the requests of the
people, and he had no support of the military, it left him no other choice to abdicate
from power.
With the collapse of the Tsar s Government in March 1917, the members of the
Duma set up the Provisional Government, led by Alexander Kerensky. The
Provisional Government had one disadvantage, it s leaders, who were all associated
with the middle class and were not seen as having anything in common with the
working class, therefore it made the Provisional Government s job of representing the
working class a whole lot harder. There were many main reasons why the Provisional
Government only existed for mere months, with a large majority of those reasons
being that their decisions were greatly unpopular among the Russian people. A major
blunder by the Provisional Government that greatly affected their existence was the
refusal of land reforms, this seemed to back up the point that the Provisional
Government did not understand the desires of the poor and didn t take into account
their living conditions. Another factor that lead to the removal of the Provisional
Government was the fact

Introduction Islam is a religion created in the seventh century by Muhammad a, Arab
long distance merchant from Mecca. Muhammad was born and grew in an era where
Christianity was the dominant religion in the Mediterranean region. The message of
Christianity was at the time spreading so fast through the major trading routes in
what is commonly known as the Trans Atlantic trade. Mecca happened to have been
on one of the trade routes of goods and ideas. It is not a surprise to find that Islam as a
religion was heavily influenced by other religions such as Christianity and Judaism;
Muhammad claimed that angel Gabriel visited him with a message from God. The
same angel for instance is being referred and ... Show more content on

In the center was the Arabian Peninsula, made out of evidently frail and isolated
tribal social orders. Within hundred years, both domains would fall before the
armed forces of Allah as Arabia united under the umbrella of Islam, which gave a
guideline of association and inspirations. . (Esposito, John 1988) Under the
successions of a number of Prophets, an inconceivable empire and a region of
Islamic states would come to command a great part of the world. Its ministers would
be fighters, dealers, and spiritualists. Islam would give the premise of a community
and the common beliefs or authenticity for rulers and their strategies of extension
and success. In this manner, for instance, the wars of success were termed faith,
opening or triumph of the route for Islam. As Muhammad represented a Trans tribal
state for the sake of Islam, so too the Islamic group got to be connected with a far
reaching domain.
The spread of Islam in the Middle East.
Not long after the surrender of Mecca, Muhammad turned his strength regarding the
expansion and union of his power over Arabia. Emissaries were sent and
partnerships formed with neighboring tribes and rulers. The free Bedouin tribes of
Arabia were united behind the Prophet of Islam through a blend of power and
diplomacy. Because Muhammad was both head of state and a prophet of God, so
too were the agents and warriors of the state the, emissaries and
Finding Hidden Mould Research Paper
Why You Should Let A Professional Help You With Mold Remediation If you
discover a wall or ceiling in your home with mold damage, it s a good idea to call in
an expert for help. Removing mold by yourself can be dangerous if you don t do it
properly. These are some reasons why calling in a contractor to get rid of your
mold is the best solution. Finding Hidden Mold It s often difficult to locate the
source of mold. You may smell mildew or see a few stains on your wall or ceiling
and have no idea how bad the problem really is. Mold grows anywhere it has
dampness and a food source such as paper or wood. It can spread between your
walls or under your carpet. An experienced contractor knows where the most likely
places are for mold to grow. He or she can locate it without doing a lot of damage to
your home. Finding hidden mold is important because the spores will spread
through your home and cause respiratory irritation even though you can t see
where the mold is growing. Stopping The Spread Of Mold Spores The best way to
get rid of mold is to tear down the drywall it has infested. Any organic matter that is
covered in mold, such as carpet, furniture, or drywall, is easier to throw out and
replace than it is to clean. However, the act of removing mold covered objects... Show

You may need to have new drywall installed or new carpeting put down. In
addition, the source of the water problem that encouraged mold growth has to be
identified and repaired. This could involve fixing leaky plumbing or a roof leak.
Plus, if you aren t meticulous about removing all the mold and stopping the source
of excess humidity, the mold will return and all the money you spent on repairs
will be wasted. It could be worth paying for a contractor to handle all the repairs just
so you have peace of mind the mold is gone for good and your home is
Use Of Pathetic Fallacy In Macbeth
Pathetic fallacy is a type of literary device that the author describes weather with. In
the use of pathetic fallacy William Shakespeare, in the play Macbeth, uses it to allow
the reader to better understand the play. In certain events mood is used to foreshadow
the potential problems; like the three witches who cause problems throughout the
weather. Sadness and darkness that bring sorrow are expressed through the weather.
Therefore, the anxious witches, negativity, and the development in nature develop
mood in the play. The three witches often appear in bad weather that affect the mood
in the play. At the outset of the play, the witches are evil as they make ominous
appearances. Shakespeare uses vivid language to represent the... Show more content

Allusions In The Rocking Horse Winner
The Rocking Horse Winner by D.H. Lawrence is a story about a little boy who is
neglected by his mom and desperately rides his horse in order to predict which
horse will be the next winner at the race track. He wins a lot of money for his
mother, hoping that it will earn her love; however, he is greatly mistaken. He ends up
riding his horseto exhaustion just to get more money and ends up dying. In The
Rocking Horse Winner Lawrence uses symbolism, a biblical allusion, and negative
characterization of the mother to explain the pursuit of money is a futile quest and
does not result in a happy ending.
D.H. Lawrence uses a symbolism to show the fruitlessness of the pursuit of
material wealth. The rocking horse can never move forward, no matter how much
Paul rides it. The horse can only rock back and forth, never making any progression
toward its end goal. The horse seems to have special abilities that Paul puts to use
to foresee the future; the consequences of Paul using these powers are revealed at
the end showing that it is a deal with the devil situation. Something huge, in violent,
hushed motion. Paul rigorously has to ride the horse. Soon after, he falls
unconscious and mutters the name of the next winning horse. The uncle after the
boy passes away compares the situation with the devil: poor devil, poor devil, he s
best gone out of a life where he rides his rocking horse to find a winner. Paul was so
desperate to try to win his mom s love that he would do anything
Essay On How To Abort A Fetus
There are many methods used to abort a fetus. Some are quite gruesome, while
others are less intrusive. The D C (Dilation Curettage) is occasionally used up to the
twelfth week. The cervix is dilated and a cruet is inserted into the uterus. The baby s
body is then cut into pieces and removed by suction. The uterine wall is then scraped,
removing the placenta to empty the entire uterus. A D E (Dilation Evacuation) can be
performed up to eighteen weeks. The uterus is entered with a forceps which grabs
and twists the baby s body to dismember it. Sometimes the head needs to be crushed
in order to remove it. Another form of abortionis the Hysterotomy which can be used
in the last three months of pregnancy. The mother s stomach is cut open, much like a

If it is born still alive, it is uncared for and left to die. The next type of abortion is
called Prostaglandin. This procedure can be used during the second half of the
pregnancy. A compound is injected into the muscle of the uterus, much like a
hormone, which causes intense contractions and pushes out the baby. The
contractions are so severe, that many babies are crushed to death. Again, if the
baby is born still alive, they are then left to die. The RU 486 used in the seventh
week of pregnancy is a synthetic steroid that blocks the hormone Progesterone.
Once given the RU 486, the woman then takes a second drug, Prostaglandin, used to
induce labor and expel the dead baby. There is another abortion drug named Ella that
works the same way as the RU 486. The final abortion procedure is that of Suction
Abortion. After the cervix is dilated, a tube with a serrated tip is inserted into the
woman s uterus. A suction, twenty nine times more powerful than a household
vacuum cleaner, tears the baby s body apart and sucks it through the hose into a
container. This is the usual method used in the United States during the first twelve
weeks of
Foucault Dimension Of Power
Power is usually defined as the ability to achieve a desired outcome, i.e. to do
something. The concept of power is normally defined of by the legislature in a
rational sense, having power over others. There are three dimensions of power:
decision making power, non decision making power and power as thought control
(Buse et al 2005). Foucault s view on power is one which extends across several
different sites; gender, race and sexuality. Observing power in contemporary society
as disciplinary incorporates hierarchical observation, normalizing judgement, and
examination to measure every individual s deviation from a societal norm. For
Foucault power in contemporary society manifests itself on an individual level
characterized by the techniques of bio and disciplinary power, in a... Show more

Foucault noted development in the nature of punishment, a change in the content of
punishment and he also noted a wider change taking place in the context of
widespread social order. As aforementioned, Foucault noticed a development in the
nature of punishment, this is underlined by his understanding that punishment passed
on from torture to imprisonment. The shift in the content of punishment is
symbolized by Bentham s vision of a panopticon because it s an example where
prisoners are aware they are unsure whether they are always under surveillance and
spend the day duly in their cells; isolation is torture of the soul, and lastly Foucault
also notes a broader change in the social order, (1997, pp. 216 217.) Mathiesen
argued that, the movement towards the panoptical form was not only a characteristic
feature of the modern prison. A new kind of society was implied in the transformation
(p. 217). The change in social order being exemplified by the

A Comparison of Two Paintings from the Renaissance Period
Introduction This paper will compare the themes found in the paintings Madonna and
Child with St. John the Baptist and an Angel by Domenico di Bartolomeo Ubaldini
(Puligo) and Madonna Enthroned by Giotto. Both paintings deal with fables from the
Christian faith but were executed during different periods in art. The Giotto painting
was created around 1310 and the Puglio painting was executed between 1518 1520.
Here, these two paintings have similar themes both at the extreme beginnings and
endings of the Italian Renaissance, and as such they serve to present an exceptional
example of the developments in art that occurred within that time. This paper shall

John the Baptist is also allowed to stand near the holy mother and child, and an
angel is present. Because of this, the viewer contends with a literal story rather than
a simple image as in Madonna Enthroned . Also in Puligo s image, where the central
figures are larger and better seen, there are religious symbols used. The same might be
true in Giotto s work but the details are harder to distinguish.
Visual Form and Style The style and the form of these two paintings reflect the
development of the artistic techniques during the Italian Renaissance. While both
reflect a Biblical theme with a central focal point of the Madonna and Child,
Madonna Enthroned has a key image that is best viewed from a central position
and Madonna and Child... has a greater degree of importance over the majority of
the surface of the canvas. In Madonna and Child... the viewer does not perceive
that an image is being forced upon them as is found in the work by Giotto. A use
of light and space is also key to preventing the Puligo piece from being forced ,
where the organization of distance visibly removes the viewer from Madonna
Enthroned while drawing the viewer into the painting in Madonna and Child... .
Color also serves a similar purpose, where Giotto s work is monochromatic but ocher
while Puligo s work carries a greater expression through the detail involved. The
mood of these two pieces is remarkable in that color does not play as great

Short-Term Effects Of Marijuana
Plenty of teenagers in today s society experiment with marijuana. Many teenagers also
believe that marijuana is safer and less effective than alcohol and other hard drugs.
But little do they know, marijuana has THC in it which is the main ingredient in it
and targets receptors in the brain. Using marijuana at a young age can lead to school
difficulties, problems with memory, car accidents, and poor decision making.
According to the Central Virginia Marijuana Prevention Task Force, students who
smoke marijuana have poorer educational outcomes than nonsmoking students. When
teenagers smoke marijuana, it could lead to marijuana use disorders in which a user
feels withdrawal symptoms when not taking the drug.

These short term effects include hallucinations, paranoia, increased heart rate, red
eyes, impaired perception and immediate happiness. When people smoke marijuana
at a young age, it can negatively impact the brain structure volume and ability to
perform cognitive functions which is knowledge of memory, language and decision
making. Smoking marijuana can affect two parts of your brain which is the
hippocampus and the frontal lobe. The hippocampus is a small organ in the brain
and is involved mainly with your long term memory. When you smoke marijuana,
memory impairment occurs because THC changes how information is processed in
the hippocampus. Also smoking marijuana at a young age can affect the frontal lobe
because it is one of the last parts of the brain that is not done developing until the mid

Overall, smoking marijuana at a young age can take a negative toll on your body and
has several long term effects. These long term effects include lung cancer, mental
health problems, decreased interest in doing things and memory loss. The ways to
stop marijuana use before it is too late, is to go through therapies such as cognitive
behavioral therapy and motivational enhancement
Extremely Loud Incredibly Close By Jonathan Foer
I don t speak. I m sorry, (Foer 30) is a phrase frequently written by Thomas Schell
Sr., a character in Extremely Loud Incredibly Close, after he survives the traumatic
Dresden bombing. Extremely Loud Incredibly Close by Jonathan Foer explores a
different traumatic experience, the effect of Thomas Jr. s death in 9/11 on his son
Oskar. After his father s death, Oskar seeks understanding and comfort in his search
for the lock to fit the key left to him by his father. Similarly, Bruce Springsteens
album The Risingexamined the many ways people find comfort after a disaster,
particularly after the 9/11 attacks. The common theme of seeking comfort after a loss
is demonstrated in both Extremely Loud Incredibly Close and The Rising as a literal
journey and as a search for physical and emotional human connection, although The
Rising emphasizes finding comfort in religion.
Oskar Schell and the narrators of Further On (Up the Road) and Lonesome Day
take a literal journey to find comfort. Oskar s journey starts after finding an
envelope containing a key with Black written on the outside in his father s closet a
year after his death. Because of the reconnaissance missions the two frequently
took together, Oskar believes it is a message to him and tries to stay connected
with his father by finding the lock. Indeed, he says, Every time I left our apartment
to go searching for the lock, I became a little lighter, because I was getting closer to
Dad (Foer 52). As Oskar

Summary Of The Defense Of Abortion By Judith Jarvis
Thomson
In her article, The Defense of Abortion , Judith Jarvis Thomson states an analogy
involving a violinist. She first states that you are allowed to unplug yourself in the
violinist scenario, second abortion after rape is analogous to the violinist scenario,
therefore, you should be allowed to unplug yourself and be allowed to abort after
rape (Chwang, Abortionslide 12). In this paper, I will argue that abortion is morally
acceptable even if the fetusis considered a person. This paper will criticize premise
two from the traditional argument against abortion string that killing innocent
persons is wrong (Chwang, Abortion slide 9). Following the violinist analogy will be
an objection to this analogy and my respons to them. One of the... Show more content

She uses examples involving self defense like being trapped in a house with a
child who is growing very rapidly (Chwang, Abortion slide 10). For instance, if a
girl was pregnant and later found out her baby had fetal congenital birth defects
that are incompatible with life and will result in death shortly after the baby was
born or severely affect the quality of life for her child. Instead of carrying this baby
to full term and delivering the baby that would result in the child s death or poor life
outcome; her best option would most likely be abortion. To give her child the best
outcome, even if it meant terminating the pregnancy and killing the fetus. You could
say that this outcome would be better than having a child who is in pain and suffers
continuously. This child would not have any quality of life other than being in pain
and being transferred in and out of hospitals all their lives. Thomson uses a similar
example with a woman that has a cardiac condition, resulting in her death if she
carries her baby to term (Thomson, 50). With Thomson s violinist analogy she shows
that although disconnecting him would result in death, it would not be morally
incorrect. This argument can be applied to a woman s pregnancy, suggesting that if
you accept the prior statement and can find no reasonable difference between the
violinist and the fetus occupying the woman s body, then you should accept that
abortion can be acceptable. Thomson

For example, dentists can receive a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree (DDS), or a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree (DMD). • 3. Peanut Butter And Jelly Research Paper Peanut butter and jelly, these two ingredients make the perfect combination for sandwich. I believe that I can be the peanut butter and NYU can be the jelly. I can confidently say this because I am the person who loves living in a big city like New York, and also I am a person who loves trying different activities that New York can only offer. Although, I grew up in a place where there are less things to do, I wanted something completely different. Living in Mongolia for 18 years made me a person who can adapt to different situations extremely easily. Therefore, NYU and myself can make the perfect peanut butter and jelly sandwich. So why NYU? Why does NYU attract me more than any other schools in America? NYU could offer me the best city
  • 4. Mold Allergies Research Paper To control mold allergies, the source of its existence must be diminished and avoided for as long as possible mostly for people with allergies. In a person with allergies, their immune system reacts to a foreign substance and it makes antibodies that identifies non harmful allergens as harmful ones. Most allergies cannot be cured but there are ways to relieve the symptoms and control the exposure. Mold grows wherever moisture, oxygen, and the chemicals it needs to thrive are present. It commonly grows outside on logs or trees, moist leaves, and many damp areas. Inside homes, mold thrives in warm, moist, and dimly lit areas. In homes it is important to watch for mold in places that can hold moisture or be very wet like damp basements or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mold itself doesn t contain allergens but its spores do. Spores become airborne and can be inhaled then symptoms can start once in your system. Common symptoms include Nasal stuffiness, eye irritation, wheezing, aggravation of asthma symptoms, and cold and flu like symptoms. (AchooAllergy.com, n.d.). There are a variety of steps to lessen the risk of mold allergies in the household when someone has allergies. One way is to monitor humidity; using a humidifier alongside a humidity gauge keeping humidity between 40% and 50% can help especially in the summer. Since spores are the real culprits for causing allergy symptoms, a HEPA air purifier (or any purifier) can remove spores. People with allergies can trap the spores before it gets to them and spreads elsewhere and make more mold. Using mold resistant shower curtains or mold reducing squeegees can get rid of excess moisture in bathrooms. Avoid soaking bathroom carpet rugs upon exiting the shower. Instead of the fluffy or frilly carpets, use washable throw rugs. Allow moisture to get out by opening windows or ventilating areas where humidity can be
  • 5. It Is Better to Have Tried and Failed Than to Have Never... It s better to have tried and failed than not to have tried at all Do you agree? The saying actions speak louder than words can be applied to this scenario. Many people often dare to dream but fear stops them from ever moving forward on their goals. The fear of failure, of not knowing if it is possible to accomplish what may seem like the most unrealistic dream a person sets out to achieve. One example we can learn from is one of the greatest swimmer the world has seen, Ian Thorpe. Four time Swimming World s Swimmer of the Year, Ian Thorpe once said, I think it s better to attempt something and fail than it is to not even attempt it, so I m glad that I ve been prepared to put myself on the line there. Till today, these words... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Speaking from personal experience, failure is the mother of success, and without overcoming the challenge posed to me, I would not make it a step further. For example, ever since I stepped on the podium in the primary school swimming nationals, I have always wanted to have the chance to do it again in the secondary school, scoring more points for my school. This year was the last year the school nationals where I could have a chance on stepping on the podium once again and I made use of the opportunity I was given. I started training extremely hard, to a point where I was at the pool at 5 in the morning and back again after school at 4 in the afternoon for strength as well as water training. The number of times I would turn up could go up to ten times a week. This arduous task went on for four to five months and in between, I still had to make sure that I was keeping up with school curriculum. At the recent national schools, I competed and instead was placed 5th, missing the podium by a whopping one second. Although I failed to reach the goal I set out to achieve, I knew that there was nothing else I could do as I have always wanted to represent the country in the Combined School Games and the recent National Schools Swimming Championship would have been my chance to qualify for the games. I started training extremely hard, to a point where I was at the pool at 5 in the morning and back again after school at 4 in

  • 7. Dna Damage, Repair, And Dna Methylation Essay Introduction: Modification of damaged DNA seems to be an understudied subject, there is much to understand on the restoration of DNA damage, repair and DNA methylation. Genomic DNA can be modified by methylation but much of it is affected on a gene when silenced. When epigenetic modification has been implicated with cancer and aging it causes DNA methylation to also have an impact on the double strand of DNA analysis. Modification as such provoke deteriorating changes like aging found in multicellular organisms and DNA damage may magnify biochemical pathways that regulate a cells growth or control DNA replication with DNA repair. In the article DNA Damage, Homology Directed Repair, and DNA Methylation written by Concetta Cuozzo, Antonio Porcellini, Tiziana Angrisano, et al. they hypothesize how DNA damage and gene silencing may induce a DNA double strand break within a genome as well as when DNA methylation is induced by homologous recombination that it may somewhat mark its reparation through a DNA segment and protect its cells against any unregulated gene expression that may be followed by DNA damage. The experiments used to demonstration how gene conversion can modify methylation pattern of repaired DNA and when that occurs methylation is able to silence the recombined gene. When exploring the molecular mechanisms that link DNA damage and the silencing gene then there is an induced double strand break that can be found at a specific location or DNA sequence in where the

Throughout the book we see these other people dealing with the problems of an extremely racist society. We also see how each person in Richards life deals with it differently. There are a few people and insience that stick out in my mind especially. The first one would have to be an incident with Shorty. Shorty has dealt with racism his whole life, and he has learned to deal with it as he has grown. We see a great example of how Shorty deals on page 269Shorty is faced with the problem of no money, such as many other southern blacks were, and we see that he is willing to do anything for any amount of money. Throughout the short stories of Ernest Hemingway, alcohol inevitably lends its company to situations in which desperation already resides. In an examination of his earlier works, such as In Our Time, a comparison to later collections reveals the constant presence of alcohol where hopelessness prevails. The nature of the hopelessness, the desperation, changes from his earlier works to his later pieces, but its source remains the same: potential, or promise of the future causes a great deal of trepidation and lamentthroughout Hemingway s pieces. Indian Camp in In Our Time, depicts Nick Adams a small boy, exposed to death for the first time. This story does not describe desperation nor does it include alcohol; rather, it demonstrates the promise held in the possibilities of life in Nick s final thoughts: In the early morning on the lake sitting in the stern of the boat with his father rowing, he felt quite sure that he would never die (Hemingway 95). Despite the events he witnesses in the camp, Nick s future seems boundless, as well as endless. Potential has no limits, and the pressures of fulfilling potential are, as yet, unknown to him. This first story in Hemingway s first published collection serves as a fitting point of departure for the descriptions of desperation that follow; Nick is free from the weight of potential, and judging by his enjoyment of the idyllic setting that surrounds him, it seems that he looks forward to the promise of life. The Three Day Blow offers the reader one of the first opportunities to observe the trepidation and fear of future potential. The war went on for nearly two hundred and fifty years and spread across the Zhou Dynasty, which was divided into eight separate states. Daoist believed that war was a result of excessive desire, and only through modest desire will people and the state experience peace and unity. Daoist argued that desire and all actions must be natural, and we must return to nature to establish our balance. We must return to nature and to a time like the Golden Age, that came before the Zhou Empire and the warring states. Inequality had been present in Latin America for a long time. But, it is hard to do something about without first knowing and understanding the causes. Obviously, this is a complex situation that cannot be boiled down to one root cause, but it is important to highlight a few things that perpetuate, strengthen, and may have started income inequality. One of the biggest causes is inflation, which is something that affects every economy in the world, just not always to this extent. Inflation is a direct effect of Latin America s governmental policies, which have proved to increase the money supply in circulation, thus devaluing the local currency while prices continue to rise. During this, salaries often do not get raised at the same rate to accommodate, and poverty progresses. What s more, as inflation continues, the value of people s savings also dwindles, as that amount stays the same while the currency value drops rapidly. Retired citizens are then left to suffer as the savings they survive on change into virtually nothing. Those who are already wealthy, however, can avoid this effect on their wealth by saving their money in foreign currencies abroad. With their mother dying, Jamal and his brother started off in the slums basically living off trash and garbage. From experience, Jamal was able to recall certain events and situations to help him answer certain question on the Who wants to be a millionaire show. For example, Jamal was able to answer the question, What does God Rama hold in his right hand? by simply remembering the time after his mother was killed and him and his brother, Salim, were being chased. (Thesis) Not only did the plot of the movie made the movie interesting and amazing to watch, but the acting, aging through camera transitions, and overall goal of Jamal to find Latika throughout conflicts made Slumdog Millionaire an amazing movie. The acting of Slumdog Millionaire seemed to be integrated into the environment and the setting of the slums. With the use of real children from the slums, the movie seems to be very real as the children seem to already fit the descriptions of being part of the slums. Living in India, I was able to understand the conditions and the lives of the people that lived around the slums. These people are recognized by the majority of the public as being savages and uncivilized. The child actors that played Jamal and Salim in the movie fit the description of being savages and uncivilized. For example, Jamal jumped into the pile of poop from the outdoor bathroom to get to Amitabh Bachchan to get his autograph. And as for Salim, Salim fit the description of being uncivilized due to the fact he had no regards for other people s lives. A perfect example is when Salim was in charge of all the other children in the child slave ring, Salim at one point took away a baby from another girl to give it to Latika. In this scene, Latika didn t want to hold the baby, but had to hold the baby because Salim threaten to drop it. Overall, the acting of Slumdog Millionaire was amazing because of many reasons. Before one can even try to find solutions for it, one must understand what a crime is and the nature of crime. Crime itself is defined as any offence harmful against society. The nature of crime however deals with the motives and causes of crime, which has no one clear cut explanation. There are several different theories on the cause of crime such as heredity, gender and mental defects, but each one is not substantial enough to explain crime and why it takes place. During the early stages of childhood, the most important part of development takes place. If there is a significant lack of attention and interaction during this time, the child may end up being drawn away from society and isolated. Sometimes it is the parents fault for not being able to raise socially competent children and other times it is institutions such as public schools. Certain children need that extra help or support that may not be provided at school. These children then end up turning to crime such as theft or drug dealing in order to compensate. Their life lesson is in the streets not in the homes or schools. Also, this idea of social norms put such an emphasis on acceptance that children who do not fit in become alienated. When man has absorbed these vibrations, they enable him to work from his sentient soulonto the sentient body and the etheric body. When a person hears music, the impression is experienced first in the astral body. Then, the tones are consciously sent to the etheric body, and man overcomes the tones already there. This is the basis both of the pleasure of listening to music and of musical creativity. Along with certain musical sounds, something of the astral body flows into the etheric body. The latter now has received new tones. A kind of struggle arises between the sentient body and the etheric body. If these tones are strong enough to overcome the etheric body s own tones, cheerful music in the major key results. When music is in a major key, one can observe how the sentient body is the victor over the etheric body. In the case of minor keys, the etheric body has been victor over the sentient body; the etheric body has opposed the vibrations of the sentient body. When man dwells within the musical element, he lives in a reflection of his spiritual home. In this shadow image of the spiritual, the human soul finds its highest exaltation, the most intimate connection with the primeval element of man. This is why even the most humble soul is so deeply affected by music. The most humble soul feels in music an echo of what it has experienced in Devachan. The soul feels at home there. Each time he listens to music man senses, Yes, I am from another

When Toussaint L Overture, a former slave, took over the Haitian armies in 1793, he was fighting both the British and the French, two armies fighting to possess an island rich in resources, including the slaves who were fighting against them. During the process, constructors made sure to make the Titanic as attractive as possible, accessorizing it with many iconic features such as the ship s grand staircase and its promenade deck. Many people at the time believed that the Titanic would never sink, therefore naming it the Unsinkable ship after it has set sail. Unfortunately, the unsinkable ship collided with an icebergon April 14, 1912, claiming the lives of 1,500 passengers. As a result, the Titanic broke into two and sunk, leaving behind its legacy. Thomas Hardy provides a poem that acknowledges the sinking of the Titanic. Unlike the many similar reactions of grief and sorrow that the people had, Hardy approaches the event differently. In the poem, The Convergence of the Twain, Thomas Hardy uses a variety of rhetorical devices to express his disdain for the vanity of humans during the first half of the poem and to explain that fate s work resulted in the outcome of the Titanic during the second half of the poem. Throughout the first five stanzas of the poem, Hardy utilizes allusion, juxtaposition, and alliteration to emphasize the idea that the excessive pride of humans is useless and it has led to the downfall of the Titanic. Therefore, Hardy provides insight on the vanity of those that built the ship. He describes the people as the Pride of Life. The description alludes to the book of John in the Christian Bible.

There are a few contrasting objectives for both types of filmmaking that distinguishes them from each other. Simply put, narrative filmmaking is a movie with a pre written script, actors and a story which is already crafted before they start shooting. while documentaries are filmmaking where real life events are captured, and a script is usually written afterwards. Narrative films rely on the three act structure which goes Setup, Confrontation and Resolution or in other words, a beginning, middle and end. In 2014, the incidence rate of pertussis in the United States increased by 15%, with almost 33,000 cases reported (Centers for Disease Control, 2015). The bacterium that causes this illness attacks an unprotected immune by attaching to the lining of the respiratory system. After initial attack, begins the release of the toxins that prohibit the respiratory system from working functionally. Because of this, mucus builds up in the lungs, causing an uncontrollable cough that makes breathing difficult (Tan et al, 2005). This illness is very contagious and almost always deadly in children. However, it can be prevented with proper vaccination. This problem can be addressed with the Health Belief Model (HBM), which encourages preventive health actions in order to prevent unwanted adverse conditions, with the idea that action depends on the value and expectancy of the behavior. The HBM attempts to explain and predict behaviors by focusing on attitudes and beliefs of individuals that are represented by six distinct constructs. These constructs include, perceived susceptibility, perceived severity, perceived benefits, perceived barriers, cues to action, and self efficacy. In addition, these six constructs are modified by other variables including, age, gender, ethnicity, personality, socioeconomics, and knowledge (Sharma, 2017). The HBM acknowledges that

She first states that you are allowed to unplug yourself in the violinist scenario, second abortion after rape is analogous to the violinist scenario, therefore, you should be allowed to unplug yourself and be allowed to abort after rape (Chwang, Abortionslide 12). In this paper, I will argue that abortion is morally acceptable even if the fetusis considered a person. She uses examples involving self defense like being trapped in a house with a child who is growing very rapidly (Chwang, Abortion slide 10). For instance, if a girl was pregnant and later found out her baby had fetal congenital birth defects that are incompatible with life and will result in death shortly after the baby was born or severely affect the quality of life for her child. Instead of carrying this baby to full term and delivering the baby that would result in the child s death or poor life outcome; her best option would most likely be abortion. To give her child the best outcome, even if it meant terminating the pregnancy and killing the fetus. You could say that this outcome would be better than having a child who is in pain and suffers continuously. This child would not have any quality of life other than being in pain and being transferred in and out of hospitals all their lives. Thomson uses a similar example with a woman that has a cardiac condition, resulting in her death if she carries her baby to term (Thomson, 50). With Thomson s violinist analogy she shows that although disconnecting him would result in death, it would not be morally incorrect. This argument can be applied to a woman s pregnancy, suggesting that if you accept the prior statement and can find no reasonable difference between the violinist and the fetus occupying the woman s body, then you should accept that abortion can be acceptable.
