It was said that Justice League is one of the most awaited movie as of today. It all started when
Warner Bros. decided to create a cartoon series of Justice League. The team is composed of
Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, The Green Lantern, Hawkgirl and Martian Manhunter

we call Teen Titans. They are composed of superherobackups like Robin, Cyborg, Beast Boy,
Raven and Starfire. Both Justice League and Teen Titans aired on Cartoon Network, which is

Hume Lake Nonprofit Sports Organization Fundraising Plan
Hume Lake Nonprofit Sports Organization Fundraising Plan
Many nonprofit sports organizations receive their funds through different means, such as donations
or fundraisers. One such nonprofit is Hume Lake. Hume Lake, although not specifically a sports
nonprofit, is a Christian camp for all ages which receives money through donors and membership
fees paid by campers. However, different methods can also be used to raise funds for Hume, such
as the Humetastic pillow fight. Ultimately, after brainstorming the perfect Humetastic pillow fight,
this event not only brings profit to Hume as it pays the staff and adds money to the Hume special
events reserve, but also encourages Hume youth to devote their lives to Jesus and form the priority
of prayer while building Christian community.
Hume Lake is a Christian camp located in California and serves an important function and mission
in the lives of their campers. This organization is specifically located in the Sierra Nevada, near
Fresno county, in central California. Surrounded by a reservoir, Hume Lake allows their campers to
feel connected in community as they spend time doing different outdoor activities such as playing
football or jumping into the lake. This ties directly back to Hume s function, which is to provide an
exciting and engaging environment for campers through different outdoor and indoor activities
alike that will allow them to grow in their relationships with one another. However, this is Hume s
function from a

Abstract
Throughout this course we completed 5 web projects that all correlate into a hazard mitigation
plan. I researched and found a mitigation plan for Cochise county in Arizona. The area at hand is
vulnerable to droughts so the plan is aimed for towards being prepared for a potential drought
rather than other uncommon disasters. The plan incorporates 3 of the 5 subjects we covered in
web projects. They are SWOT analysis, emergency operations center, and types of disasters and
prioritizing them.

The Destruction of Identity in Vertigo, The Tenant, ...
The Destruction of Identity in Vertigo, The Tenant, Mulholland Drive
The rudimentary form of narrative storytelling lends itself towards application to an individual
subject s life story due to the correspondence of a narrative s finite bounds and the subject s
mortality. Vertigo (dir. Alfred Hitchcock, 1958), The Tenant (dir.
Roman Polanski, 1976), and Mulholland Drive (dir. David Lynch, 2001) are consistent with this
idea because their narratives follow an individual human subject from an anecdotally significant
beginning to their death. I will argue that the anthropomorphized narrative compels the subject s
suicide through the misrecognition of personal identity.
This occurrence brings about the themes of narrative ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Action motivates the story and conveys it temporally. (Barthes 18
20)
The proairetic code is the only one without which a narrative cannot subsist. The motivation in
sequence establishes a dynamic plot, ceaselessly decreasing the distance from its conclusion.
Aristotle clarifies the concept of narrative motion in The Art of
Poetry.
Tragedy is essentially an imitation not of persons but of action and life, of happiness and misery.
All human happiness or misery takes the form of action; the end for which we live is a certain kind
of activity, not a quality.
Character gives us qualities, but it is in our actions what we do that we are happy or the reverse.
In a play accordingly they do not act in order to portray the characters; they include the characters
for the sake of the action. So that it is the action in it, i.e. its fable or plot, that is the end and
purpose of the tragedy; and the end is everywhere the chief thing.
(Aristotle 37)
The symbiotic relationship of characters these are created with what Barthes terms the connotative
code and action seems menacingly inseparable, however Aristotle resigns the confusion to the
narrative s impetus. He argues that the character s connotations are subordinate to and dependent on
their actions, because the actions are the exclusive

Introduction. Weathering Occurs Through Interaction Between
Introduction Weathering occurs through interaction between rocks, soils, and minerals and the
Earth s atmosphere, biosphere, and hydrosphere. Different types of weathering fall under three
general categories of weathering: physical, chemical, and biological. Tafoni weathering refers to
small cavernous holes and features that is found in granular rock. Typically, these features include
smooth concave walls and are adjacent with one another in networks. Tafoni weathering is a
subtype of weathering that falls under hydration weathering and ultimately under the larger
umbrella category of physical weathering processes. Fundamentally, this particular weathering
occurs due to a salt crystal expansion process where salt crystals or deposits... Show more content

Also, the Santa Monica Mountains also undergo Aeolian processes during particularly strong wind
activity such as Santa Ana wind events. Moreover, our primary focus area was restrained to about a
1 mile hike into the park and reached a large volcanic swimming hole. The swimming hole acted as
a boundary, but there are a few observations beyond the swimming hole that also contribute to this
weathering process. In a short distance beyond the swimming hole, there is a visible fault line.
Within the hike, the first observable evidence of tafoni weathering was about 40 minutes into the
hike. Passing a large rock archway, tafoni weathering was evident in the rock face of the archway as
well as the side of the mountains beyond this point. In addition to larger mountains, tafoni
weathering was also present in smaller hillsides. This particular type of weathering was also evident
in the mountains overlooking the swimming hole. The tafoni weathering observed in the mountains
around the swimming hole had larger cave like features than the mountains not directly touching a
body of water. Discussion Presently, there are studies conducted to better understand tafoni
weathering with several investigations and theoretical models but due to limited data available on
temperature, moisture and salt regimes it is difficult to

Roland And Lanval Trial

The Song of Roland and Lanval are two very different texts in perspective of plot and tone;
however, specifically looking into the trials can prove them similar in numerous ways. Ganelon in
The Song of Roland and Lanval in Lanval are both being tried for crimes against their kings. The
trials are similar in that both characters are being accused of treason and are loyal to their king. On
the other hand, the trials are dissimilar due to the reputations and attitudes of each character and the
outcomes of the trials.
In the texts, Ganelon and Lanval are both being accused and put on trial for treason. In The Song

Ganelon was willing to fight to win for his case while Lanval didn t care much if he won or not.
As said before, Ganelon tried to defend himself by claiming he didn t commit treason but only
acted on his vengeance toward Roland which displays his desire to win the case. Ganelon, also,
recruits his friend, Pinabel, to defend him, Ganelon states, In you...friend...Now save me from
death and from this accusation (Roland, pg.149, 3786 3787) this expresses Ganelon s will to
win because he is requesting other sources of defense against the accusation. Taking a look at
Lanval, it s clear he doesn t want to win the case because he believes that he lost the love of his
life. Before Lanval was even accused he didn t care if he lived or not since he thought he lost his
love, Lanval went with great sorrow; they could have killed him, for all he cared (Lanval, pg.88,
357 358) this shows he had little will to live whether he was found guilty of the accusation or
not. Even after he was accused, Lanval s attitude remained, Each day they[knights] went to see
him, because they wanted to know whether he was drinking or eating; they were afraid that he
d killed himself (Lanval, pg.89, 411 414) this proves that Lanval still did not care much for
winning the case as he was in a depressive state even after being accused. In all, Ganelon had a
strong desire to win the case while Lanval was so saddened by the thought of losing his love that
he didn t care much about

Trifles By Susan Glaspell Research Paper
Symbolism in Trifles by Susan Glaspell The play Trifles by Susan Glaspell is a great example of
an early feminist drama because it shows two women Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters who both
realize while in the home of Mrs. Wright that she was justified in her killing her husband in the
middle of the night. It shows that the ladies are women first and wives second. They help Mrs.
Wright verses helping the men solve the murder because the ladies can relate and put themselves
in the shoes of Mrs. Wright and, they know they would do the same thing if they were treated the
same way Mrs. Wright was by her husband. For example when asked where the bird was Mrs. Hale
said, we think the cat got it (Glaspell 560). In the playit shows many examples of symbolism but of
all of them the ones that really stand out among the others would have to be Mrs. Wrights bird
cage, the rope used to kill Mr. Wright... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Wright s birdcage. The birdcage is a very strong piece of symbolism because it shows the most or
really has the most meaning. The birdcage showed how Mrs. Wright was trapped in a awful
marriage with no chance of escaping the horror of it. The cage use to have a lock on it and that
shows how Mrs. Wright was locked into her marriage and was locked in the home. She was not
allowed to leave so she was never able to tell anyone the way Mr. Wright really acted towards
her. The birdcage door is broken and it shows the very broken marriage between Mr. and Mrs.
Wright. The broken door also represents Mrs. Wright escaping the horrible marriage because
when the door is open on the cage its just as if a door is open for Mrs. Wright to finally take a
chance to make a run for it. As much as she would have liked to just run it was 1916 and in that
time divorce was never an option for anyone no matter the circumstances. So Mrs. Wright just felt
trapped even when the door was open for her to run she knew she still could

Homo Erectus Culture
The biology and culture of the Homo erectus that led to its success relative to earlier hominids is
that it had a body shape similar to the Turkana boy who was bipedal and had a closely related
body to humans. The erectus body proportion was long and linear adapted to tropical conditions
as well. Their skull was longer than it was wide, angular from the side, a sagittal keel, bar like
supraorbital torus, occipital torus, and greatest breadth is low. The body plan of a H.erectus is very
much more like that of a living humanhaving a ratio of arm length to leg length. With this change in
the body structure it showed that there is a pattern of bipedal locomotion. It soon became
completely committed to terrestrial life by adopting a fully modern

The Mitigation Measures Necessary For Emergency Relief...
Introduction Imagine that your city had flooded with billons of dollars of damage done and close
to a thousand lives lost. Now imagine that much of the outcomes of this disaster could have been
averted if proper mitigation measures had been utilized. The mitigation measures necessary to
prevent this disaster would have been a fraction of the cost spent on emergency relief measures.
For many people in New Orleans this scenario was a reality when Hurricane Katrinahappened.
Hurricane Katrina caused one hundred and thirty five billon dollars in damage and the death of at
least nine hundred and eighty six lives (Plyer, 2014). The city lost all government control and the

Analysis The first action that could drastically reduce the damages and loss of life is educating
the population in New Orleans. There needs to be several kinds of education provided for the
residents of the city. The pre dissemination of the evacuation and disaster plan could have made a
drastic difference in the number of lives lost (Boyd, Wolshon, Heerden, 2009). This way the
citizens of New Orleans would have known how to react and what to expect on the event of a
hurricane. If those who could not self evacuate would have known of the resources available to
assist them in evacuating the death tolls could have been drastically reduced. Almost half of those
who died due to hurricane Katrina were over the age of seventy four (Plyer, 2014). It is tragic that
those who were the least able to protect themselves were abandoned to the caprice of the storm.
Through informing citizens of the plans and resources available to them in the event of disaster
another tragedy like Hurricane Katrina can be prevented. Another form of education required
mitigating the effects of another storm like Katrina would be to make citizens aware of the inherent
danger with each hurricane. The biggest challenge in educating citizens in the danger of hurricanes
is the complacency effect (Wang Kapucu, 2007). This means that citizens come to believe that
because they were fine before that they will be fine this time. To overcome this, citizens need to
understand the

Glorification of Masculinity in Sir Arthur Conan Doyle...
Glorification of Masculinity in The Lost World
The male ego and the fulfillment of a man s own image of himself can be strong motivating forces
behind his actions and behaviors. Society has created parameters used to define a real man; failing
to live up to these specifications threatens one s masculinity and standing amongst one s peers.
These expectations and requirements for manhood are constantly reinforced by society. The
prevailing stereotype of the classic Marlboro Man along with movie heroes such as James Bond,
Indiana Jones, and John Wayne give the impression of the adventurous ladies man who laughs in
the face of danger and can do no wrong. Arthur Conan Doyle s tale of adventure, The Lost World, is

The title article that I used for my Classic Research paper is One Brain or Two? The split brain in

calculation, reasoning, written language and critical thinking. The right hemisphere controls
emotions, insight, music, and creativity. The right braincontrols the left part of the body. The left

The hypothesis was to explore the extent to which the two halves of the human brain are able to
function independently, and whether they have separate and unique abilities. If the information
traveling between the two halves of your brain is interrupted, would the right side of your body
suddenly be unable to coordinate with the left? If language is controlled by the left side of the
brain, how would your ability to speak and understand words be affected by this surgery? Would
thinking and reasoning processes exist in both halves separately? If the brain is really two
separate brains, would a person be capable of functioning normally when these two brains are no
longer able to communicate? Since we receive sensory input from both the right and the left, how
would the senses of vision, hearing, and touch be affected? They were trying to answer these
questions. They tested patients visual abilities, touch simulation, auditory abilities. The methods
were used to examine the visual abilities, so the objects that presented on a left side would be
invisible to them in the right hemisphere. Meanwhile, if the objects presented on the right side, they

Roles Of Women In Islam
Roles of Women in Islam
There seems to be a big controversial issue on the roles of women in Islam. People who are not
followers of the faith, believe that the roles of women compared to the men are unequal. Which
holds some truth, but according to followers it is not completely correct. Stereotypical Roles of
Muslim Women
In many cases, non Muslims looking in at the women in Islam perceive their role to be one
associated with negativity. This, forces the women in the Islamic culture to be guarded since,
these stereotypes invade on their culture and personality as an individual. One common
misconception about Muslim women is that they live under an oppressive dictatorship ruled by
their husbands and fathers. Which can be very misleading since, many people start to think that
the women are forced into marriage and are forced to wear the veil. Although, some of these
ideas are true, they re not oppressive of the women within the Muslim community. Instead, many
of these ideas are customary and are part of their culture. The basic role of a Muslim women is
to be devoted and enthusiastic about raising the children and being a good wife. Which seems to
be a common role promoted in most other cultures as well. Therefore, it s not unusual for a
woman to be perceived as the individual responsible of taking care of the house and the children.
Modern Roles of Women in Islam
The Muslim community has progressed and moved forward with many modern views on women.

Macbeths tomarrow, Tomarrow Speech Vs. Robert Frosts out, Out
An unknown author once wrote Never take life too seriously; after all, no one gets out of it alive .
When reading this quote, there can almost be an immediate connection between two very good
works of writing: Macbeth s Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow speechfrom Shakespeare s
tragedy, Macbeth, and the poem Out, Out by Robert Frost. Both allude to the idea that a single life,
in its totality, denotes nothing, and eventually, everyone s candleof life is blown out. However,
each poet approaches this idea from opposite perspectives. Frost writes of a young, innocent boy
whose life ends suddenly and unexpectedly. His poem is dry and lacks emotion from anyone ...

Frost, on the other hand, wipes out his character and leaves us with the feeling as that death will
silence the memories of all who knew the child.
With the major differences in these works of writing, there are also many similarities among the
two. Both Shakespeare and Frost are trying to say death is inevitable. It takes place at different
times and under different circumstances for everyone, but none the less, it cannot be avoided.
Everyone also deals with death in their own way. Macbeth almost discards the news of his wife
s death, as he talks about life itself and how he feels about it. The people in Frost s poem are also
unfazed about the death of the boy. Another similarity is that in both poems, the people move
forward with their lives. This is a reflection of human nature; most of us don t grieve forever, but
eventually find a point where we re able to accept the death a loved one.
Robert Frost and William Shakespeare have been celebrated by many people because of their
ability to express themselves through the written word. Here we are years after their deaths
analyzing these fascinating poems about life and death. It s clear they had similar thoughts about
this subject at the time of these writings, even though their characters could not have been more
opposite. For both poets, life is too

I Believe In Neurology
Emotions have a strong influence on human lives. My mother s constant battle with anxiety began
after her mother died of a hemorrhagic stroke due to uncontrolled hypertension. Seeing her struggle
with an almost debilitating fear of illness naturally lead to towards trying to better understand the
complex interplay of disease and emotions.
I am naturally curious. In Pakistan due to limited resources and lack of foreign trained
professionals, the government hospitals affiliated with my medical school have no separate
Neurology departments. Instead of this being a hindrance, I considered it a mixed blessing. My
curiosity was kindled and I studied neuroanatomy and neurology with more vigor than most.

Throughout Janie s three marriages in Their Eyes Were Watching God, she has a different set of
clothes that she describes wearing in each marriage. These outfits represent the type of relationship

When Janie finds out that her grandmother wants her to marry Logan Killicks, she is horrified

Critical Functions Of Joint Operations
Joint operations have certain critical functions that help utilize all the tools necessary to operate and
fight jointly. Use of joint operations and joint functions is imperative at operational and strategic
levels of military operations. During all joint missions, Joint Operations Planning Process (JOPP)
and Joint Intelligence Planning of the Operating Environment (JIPOE) are critical. Each function
within JOPP and each step within JIPOE help the commander make critical decisions. These
decisions eliminate confusion and assist subordinate commanders in their mission planning. It also
ensures all elements are aware of each other, their mission as well as the overall mission and the
commander s intent.

The Education Of The United States
In the two hundred forty one years since the founding of the United States, few have seriously
argued the importance of education to society. Although education was left out of the United States
Constitution in the interest of states rights, Thomas Jefferson was not alone in believing that the
most important bill in our whole code is that for the diffusion of knowledge among the people...
[which is necessary] for the preservation of freedom and happiness. (251). Despite a consensus on
the necessity of education, its actualization has a storied past, one riddled with intense ideological

Next, I will outline key elements of Amy Gutmann s Democratic State of Education, including
nonrepressionism and freedom in choosing among competing conceptions of good life and good
society. Once this framework is in place, I will proceed to explore the perceived incompatibility of
Common Core with the principles of Gutmann s Democratic State. Ultimately, I will conclude that
the standards are indeed compatible with a Democratic State of Education given the latitude that
states have in tailoring the standards and given the fact that Common Core does not exclusively
determine curriculum.
The Common Core State Standards are the contrivance of a commission of governors and
education leaders from forty eight states sponsored by the National Governors Association and the
Council of Chief State School Officers. The overarching goals of the commission in drafting the

Low Ph Groundwater Discharge Drives Natural Acidification...
High pCO2, low pH groundwater discharge drives natural acidification of reefs
Christina M. Richardson, Henrietta Dulai, Brian Popp, and Kathleen Ruttenberg
Abstract
Diel changes in the marine carbonate chemistry of reefs are thought to be primarily biologically
driven. The presence of groundwater discharge in nearshore reefs may complicate our
understanding of carbon cycling in these systems, however. Here we show that coastal groundwater
inputs shift and heighten biologically induced changes in marine pH, driving natural acidification
and CaCO3 dissolution along a salinity gradient in two Hawaiian coral reefs. We examined two
contrasting fringing reefs with variable pCO2 (1800 4000 ?atm), low pHT (7.4 7.5), and low
?aragonite (0.3 ? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We observed changes in pHT from groundwater inputs ranging from 0.01 0.40 pHT units and mean
daily changes of 0.04 ? 0.08 to 0.18 ? 0.16 pHT units at sites located closest to the groundwater
springs. Further, our data revealed a shift in reef metabolism from net dissolution to net
calcification across this groundwater driven physicochemical gradient. At sites with high levels of
groundwater exposure, dissolution rates were elevated. Reef systems experiencing groundwater
discharge may be placed under similar physicochemical constraints as expected with future ocean
acidification conditions. As such, our results may shed light on how natural reef communities will
respond to changes in carbonate chemistry due to ocean acidification.
1. Introduction
Atmospheric CO2 levels are projected to reach 730 to 1090 ppm by 2100 due to rising
anthropogenic CO2 inputs (IPCC 2007, Joos et al., 2001, Meehl et al., 2005, Wigley 2004, Wigley
and Raper 2001). Oceanic uptake of CO2 is raising marine pCO2 and lowering pH as the dominant
dissolved carbonate species in sea water shift from CO32 and HCO3 towards HCO3 and H2CO3, a
process known as ocean acidification (OA) (Qu?r? et al., 2012). Declines in pH and ?aragonite
associated with emerging changes in carbonate chemistry due to OA will impact diverse marine
biota (Doney et al., 2009).
Oceanic pH is predicted to decrease by 0.3 ? 0.4 pH units as a result of OA by the end of the
century (Doney et al., 2009,

Factory Farm Animal Welfare Abuse Summary
In the United States, most of the meat and dairy products consumers purchase at the grocery store
come from facilities called factory farms. Factory farming is a fast and cheap method of mass
producing meat, cheese, milk, eggs, and several other variations of animal products. Although cost
effective, factory farmingis criticized because of the subpar conditions the animals are subjected to,
and the apparent environmental harm they inflict due to the immense amount of waste these
factories produce. In an article titled Using Emerging Pollution Tracking Methods to Address the
Downstream Impacts of Factory Farm Animal WelfareAbuse , the authors Tarah Heinzen and Abel

In regards to animal abuse, I have always advocated against animal cruelty and I believe that
efforts to prevent animal cruelty should extend beyond just pets and wild animals. I personally
feel that farm animals deserve the same courtesy and it is hypocritical to allow some species to
suffer more than others simply because they are a cow, chicken, or pig. Regardless of whether
they are going to be slaughtered for meat, they should not have to endure a life of torture in
misery. Factory farms need to prioritize the health and safety of their animals over the mass
production of animal products. In addition, factory farms are responsible for immense water and
air pollution which they must be held accountable for. Over the course of human history, we have
seen our environment deteriorate due to our own desecration. Ideally, we should want this planet to
last us as long as possible but by continuing to pollute our environment, we are effectively
shortening our timeline. Keeping track of the waste and pollution caused by factory farms is
essential in preserving our

For example entering as a trespasser with the intention of stealing.
To begin with, trespass itself is not a crime at common law. There is the definition of trespass to
land is it found in the case Martinelli v Nelson Street Holdings Ltd. and it says Intentionally or
negligently entering or remaining on, or directly causing any physical matter to come into contact
with land in the possession of one more . The trespass to land has to be intentional (requires a direct
intentional act) .
The first issue that is going to be analysed is whether Dobby is liable for trespass to land by
using the derelict state of factory owned by Draco. The owner knows it is being used by Dobby,
an unemployed person hoping to put food on his family s table by providing hand car cleaning
services. However there is no consent from Draco to Dobby to do so. As looking in the facts
that are in the case, it is necessary to identify if case satisfy all key elements for trespass. It is
clear that Dobby did not intend to cause any damage to the land owned by Draco he was using
land for hand car cleaning services for earning money to buy food for his family. But he
intentionally stayed on the property which belongs to another person and this is how he satisfied
the element which gives the definition for trespass to land intention. The rule of intention to be

Summary of General Conference One theme, regarding the family, that was referred to various

Personal Choices In Romeo And Juliet
Ovid s PT and Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet can both be a very hard story to read and
interpret. The characters are constantly following things that pop up in their mind and
coincidentally happening. I believe that in both stories Destiny has the greatest impact on
multiple things but the main controversial topic is personal choices. That s why I believe in
Ovid s PT and Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet, Destiny had a greater impact on characters. One
example from Romeo and Juliet is when Romeo accidentally get invited to a Capulets party
where coincidentally Juliet is there. If it was the personal choice that thrived Romeo would
have chosen not to go to the party. These are shown in the play when Romeo says Romeo
suggests as much before he goes to the party where he first meets Juliet: I fear, too early for my
minds misgive some consequences yet hanging in the stars. This shows that without destiny
Romeo would have chosen not to go to the party and would have never been given the
opportunity to meet Juliet. Another example of this in Romeo and Juliet is when Juliet finds out
Romeo is of the house of Montague and the nurse says His name is Romeo, and a Montague, THe

Section 4 of the Companies Act 1965 stated that the director of a company is a person who is
chosen to be the directors or alternate directors apart from the given name upon on their position
(Rachagan, 2002). Director is not just only a person that formally selected to the office. Even
though they are not validly appointed, the s4 of the Act can as well consider certain persons to be
directors, but only if the contrary intention appears.
One of the duties that company directors need to comply with is fiduciary duties. This is so as
company directors are said to be in a fiduciary relationship with the company. When directors are in
a fiduciary relationship with the company, they are prohibited from doing any acts deemed
prejudicial to the company. In other words, by applying the judgment in Hospital Products Ltd v
United States Surgical Corpn, directors cannot and should not use his position to receive personal
gains.
The traditional view is that the directors owed a fiduciary duty to the company. This is the
reason why directors are prohibited from receiving personal gain from their status as directors in
a company. The nature of the relationship i.e. fiduciary relationship between directors and a
company rendered the directors to act for the best interest of the company. This point can be
supported by looking at Section 132(1) of the Companies Act 1965 which states that a director
must act in bona fide when exercising his powers for a proper purpose and

How Music Processes Benefit America s Market
Music has been evolving and developing for thousands of years. Each generation has been
engaging in union with instruments and song to express sorrow, joy, heartbreak, life, death, love
and so on. As music has grown and become more popular, more ways to listen to it have been
introduced. Besides live music, the best way to listen to any artist is through a cassette tape.
Cassette tapes show beneficial purposes in economics in areas such as marketing, entertainment
and the music industry. Cassettes have been benefiting America s market because people have
been buying them for decades. The first cassette tape to ever be produced was in 1962 in
Germany and was later introduced to America in 1966. Reaching its peak in 1990, over
442,000,000 cassettes were sold in the US alone; this even exceeded the amount of records that
were also being sold. When a product is selling at such a high rate, workers are needed to make
the music, put together the tapes or sell them in the stores. Not only was music made on them,
but blank ones were sold as well so buyers could put together their own mix for themselves, a
friend or someone special. Cassettes benefitted the marketplace because millions of US dollars
were made from them and although they are not as popular today, they are still an economic

Black Soldier Fly Research Paper
The black solider fly is indigenous to the southern United States and is now distributed to warm
temperate regions (Diener et al., 2009). Black soldier fly larvae (BSFL) have been used in
backyard and farm composting systems for decades, mainly to treat animal manures (Tomberlin,
2001; Oliver, 2008). However, due to several unique characteristics, BSFL have been investigated
in a variety of beneficial applications. The life cycle of the BSFL is divided into four phases with
an average lifespan of 36 days depending on the environmental conditions (i.e. temperature,
moisture, and air supply) (Fig.1). (Tomberlin et al., 2002). Mature flies have no functioning mouth

Like energy crops, BSFL have not been previously digested and thus may offer higher bio
methane potential than manures or biowastes. However, unlike energy crops, BSFL would not
compete with food crops in agricultural land usage, and pose the associated environmental
issues such as soil erosion and pesticide leakage to surface and ground water (EEA, 2006).
Furthermore, BSFL have a high per acre productivity, fast growth rate, and can be grown on non
arable land areas similar to algae. However, harvesting and valorization of algae biomass require
significant water use and high capital and operation costs, which make it economically
challenging (Mussgnug et al., 2010). Therefore, the objective of the current research is to
investigate the potential of BSFL as a feedstock for anaerobic digestion, including integration of
anaerobic digestion into different BSFL biorefinery options. Specifically, we investigated the
following pathways: (1) Anaerobic digestion of food waste (2) Anaerobic digestion of BSFL fed on
food waste along with residual food waste; (3) BSFL fed on food waste used to produce biodiesel
and digestion of the residual lipid extracted BSFL combined with residual food waste. Data are

Essay Deforestation of The Pacific Northwest
Deforestation of the Pacific Northwest
One of the most controversial areas associated with the global problem of deforestation is the
Pacific Northwest of the US. The problem can be broken down into several issues that all tie in
together. These include the near extinction of the Northern Spotted Owl, the business aspect of
logging versus the environmental aspect, and the role of the government in this problem. In 1973,
the Endangered Species Act (ESA) was passed. This enabled the
Dept. of Commerce and Dept. of the Interior to place species, either land or marine, as either
threatened or endangered. Under these terms species could no longer be hunted, collected, injured

Seeing an animal in an artificial environment can certainly not be compared to witnessing an
animal in its natural environment. In my opinion, there can be no price put on the existence of
any species on this planet, plant or animal. To think that money has become such an influential
part of our society that companies are willing to sacrifice a species in order to make a profit. The
northern spotted owl is only one of many species that are on the verge of extinction do to
deforestation. Another important consideration in the deforestation of the Pacific North Coast is
logging as a business. The investors of a publicly owned company sole concern is the growth of
their stock, and this for lumber companies is accomplished by harvesting trees in the most efficient
and cost effective manner. Clear cutting old growth is the best way to accomplish this. This
approach leads to quick financial gain but is not best for the long term or the trees. It is the
companies that use this process that is the most unfavorable to the forests and contributes to
deforestation the most. Another approach uses wise management techniques to maximize the long
term profit of the forest. Guest speaker Jerry
Howe would fall into this category as a private land owner. As a land
steward, he believes he can do what he wants with his land. The term
steward is used

Suspense In Way Up To Heaven
In the stories Live to Tell , Interlopers , and Way Up to Heaven the shared literary element is

Animal Rights and Laws
Animal Rights The world has existed with the presence of both living and non living matter. Human
beings have been accorded the right of protection and preservation of the environment, where the
animals belong. In essence, humanity is all about coexisting with animals and plants, together with
the other non living matter. With preference of human beings over animals, and with preference of
animals over plants, every category higher than the other, is relinquishing the capacity to dominate
and coexist with the higher authority. The world is evidently a home to both plants and animals,
including the non living matter. All animals are living. Moreover, all plants are living. The
distinction between human beings and other animals has led to the establishment of a code of
relationship and use which human beings has embraced over the years. Human beings have
dominion over animals. This is in accordance with the innate characteristics and capabilities that
human beings possess unlike other animals (Hargrove 168). With respect to this, human beings
have often used animals in assorted ways. The many ways that animals are beneficial to human

Richard Pryor Comic Style
Did you know that Richard Pryor was one of the most famous comedians of his time and is still
very well known? He was born on December 1, 1940, in Peoria, IL by his mother Gertrude L.
Thomas. As a young boy, Richard was raised in a brothel where his mother worked and was
doing things no young child should see, and he couldn t live with his father because he was a
treacherous pimp and was not fit to raise young Richard. As a boy, he was very fond of his
grandmother and that was one reason for his motherwas always gone and not really in his life and
his grandmother was the only adult really involved in his life. When he was only six years old
Richard was sexually assaulted by a neighbor, and he was also abused by a priest when he was an
altar boy.
Early in his comedian career, Richard was modeling his comedy, which was based mostly on Bill
Cosby s work. One of the main reasons he changed his comic style was from a performance in Las
Vegas when he saw Dean Martin in the crowd and in that moment he questioned what he was doing
and why he was doing it. So during the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Let s start with setting himself on fire When Richard and his friend were watching a movie
about a monk who set himself on fire as an act of protest or a sign of resistance. Some believe
otherwise because in an interview done with Pryor he said that he had caught on fire by
freebasing cocaine and another incident when he doused himself with 151 proof rum and was
gonna set himself to ashes. Another set of interesting things about Pryor he was quite the ladies
man, or he just had commitment issues. He had seven wives and only one of these seven
marriages lasted longer than a year. In his most recent or his last marriage, it was their second time
getting married for the first time just hours after hitched, he was in his hotel and he already wanted a

Early Cinema Versus Modern Bodies Of Work
When looking at early cinema compared to modern bodies of work, one thing that has changed
dramatically was the way films were edited. From the 1900s through the 1960s, films such as L
Arroseur arrosГ©, Battleship Potemkin, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari and Citizen Kane, all had
their own way of telling a visual narrative. I m going to give examples of how editing evolved and
what techniques were developed. When looking at the LumiГ©re bros, one of their earlier works L
Arroseur arrosГ© , the editing was very simple. What we see on screen is a wide angle two shot of
a man working in a garden, using a hose. Now here s the key component, by choosing a wide
angle shot, we re able to see a second man walk into frame stepping on the... Show more content on

In his experiment, Kuleshov placed actor Ivan Mosjoukine with shots of three different subjects:
a hot plate of soup, a girl in a coffin, and a pretty woman lying in a couch. The footage of the
actor was the same expressionless gaze. The audience thought his performance was amazing, even
though in each shot he looked hungry, then sad, then lustful. As mentioned in Sikov, Film Studies:
An Introduction, Eisenstein used montage to convey and explore revolutionary ways for the
audience to watch films. Eisenstein believed that montage must consist of colliding shots.
Editing the shots rapidly, to exhibit conflict, making a sequence that more intense. His film,
Battleship Potemkin, is a great example of the soviet montage. There s one sequence in
particular, The Odessa Step that helps express this. It starts out with a wide angle shot of the
crowd, followed by multiply medium shots of the citizens waving to the sailors. shows their
facial expression, as they have wave to the ship. Then suddenly, we get a closeup shot of a
woman in distress, quickly followed by a extreme closeup shot of the same woman, looking even
more frantic. As we see the citizens of Odessa run in terror, one thing that stands out, is the woman
with the white umbrella. As the citizens run franticly down the steps, the woman runs directly into
the camera, by doing so, she creates her own cut in the clip. Next he swiftly cuts to a extreme long
shot showing a soldiers following the

Plato s Allegory Of The Cave Essay
When you lose the person who matters most to you in this world, time alters. Time is no longer
a linear progression of events. Time becomes a memory of another life. Ten years pass within a
day, then you wake up and another decade has been added to the distance, an alien life form, a
foreign place, another person inhabiting your body in the past, and, yet, the memories flood the
goop of your brain, as if the single greatest loss of your life happened this morning. It s all curved
and bended and distorted, like an astronaut turning into spaghetti at the event horizon of some
black hole right here on planet earth. Nobody will ever get it. Plato s allegory of the cave: some
dipshit escapes the shadowy cave and returns to tell the other dick holes about this great truth he
s learned, but they just stare at him, like he jerks off to potatoes. This is what it s like. You re
alone, time becomes a fucking acid trip, and people become about as interesting as potted plants.
As I sit on the roof deck of this Wall Street condominium in Manhattan years after my entire life
had disappeared and become something unrecognizable, an indistinct memory floats down the
back of my skull like an ephemeral spirit in the darkness of night. The night watchman in my
building looks suspiciously through the glass door then waves when he sees me. I smile and
casually wave back. The memory faintly grabs hold of me again. The screaming and laughing of
children softly echoes from the distant past; the

LJB Company wishes to move forward and become a public entity. Good corporate governance
within an organization may make a company more attractive to potential buyers, investors, and

Things to Ponder
It has been observed that the company is violating the principle of control activity of segregation of
duties. The accountant is acting as the treasurer and controller. In this dual role, he purchases all of
the supplies and pays for these purchases. He also receives the checks and completes the monthly
bank reconciliation. Various frauds are possible when one person handles related activities. These
duties must be segregated to multiple personnel.
Use of the three principles of internal control segregation of record keeping from physical custody,
documentation and independent internal verification is recommended. This will deliver an
effective system of internal controls. Any attempt at fraudulent activity will be detected unless
there is collusion among the employees.
Internal controls over cash receipts should include:
(a)designating only personnel such as cashiers to handle cash;
(b)assigning the duties of receiving cash, recording cash, and having custody of cash to different
individuals;
(c)obtaining remittance advices for mail receipts, cash register tapes for over the counter receipts,
and deposit slips for bank deposits;
(d)using company safes and bank vaults to store cash with access limited to authorized personnel,
and using cash registers in executing over the counter receipts;
(e)making independent daily counts of register receipts and

Sport Management
For the longest time I could not decide on a major and a career to study throughout college.
When I came to Georgia Southern University I discovered that they had a major that was very
interesting to me. Sport Management id the ideal major for my interest and me. Since I love
sports I figured that this would be the career for me. A degree in Sport Management helps to
prepare for success in sport related occupations.
The job market varies in the field of sport management. Some occupational opportunities include:
athletic trainer, coach, sports official, Sports agent, camp director, sporting goods sales/dealer, pro
scout, athletic director, sport promoter. The list can go on of the opportunities in... Show more

typical activities are, plan and direct athletic events, represent professional athletes, plan and direct
the training of the team players, evaluate skills and potential of players, or work extensively with
players, coaches, officials, managers etc. The work condition can vary with different jobs or
tasks. A scout will be called on to travel about 3/4 of the time. Athletic directors handle the
athletics of their prospective schools along with coaches. A sports agent working conditions can
involve a lot of long hours and extended pressure. Some employment settings are colleges
/universities, camps, sporting goods stores, management firms, professional teams, fitness
centers and the media. The job outlook for most careers in Sport Management is fair to good.
Sport Management is one of the fastest growing fields of study in the country. With that there
will lots of job openings and new businesses starting. Some jobs in this field are limited. For
instance, anything dealing with professional teams is limited due to the number of sports teams.
Successes in the teams help with salary and benefits for the employees. Most jobs in the sport
management field are setup to where an employee must work his or her way up the ladder. For
example, the job may ask the employee to assist in work and the salaries are not as high. In some
jobs such as being a general manager of

South Park Satire
South Park it either makes you cringe or grin ear to ear. The latter will most likely be the result
for the millennial crowd. With the show closing in on two decades it remains as strong and
relevant as it was in 1997. However, it isn t entirely without fault given the amount of time Matt
and Trey shrewdly concoct an episode. The one week deadline has on very rare occasions
diminished the coreviewers expectation. But more often what usually follows are extremely
memorable moments that wrapped the remaining season in comedic gold. Even when the internet
naysayers give their untimely goodbyes to the show at any point in its existence it still manages to
be head and shoulders above anything else in the genre (such a thing?). The show has earned...

Anne Frank s Life During The Holocaust
Anne Frank The Holocaust was a time of horror and brutality. Anne Frank and her family were
only a few of the many Jews terrorized. Anne was a brave and inspiring young girl in a time that
was anything but pleasant.
Not only were her surroundings difficult but also her family at times. Anne s dad, Otto Frank, was
born in Frankfurt am Main, Germany and joined the banking business working in the family bank
until it closed. He later became a lieutenant in the German army amid World War I. Otto then
married Edith Hollander in 1925 and they wanted to begin a family so they established a home in
Frankfurt. Their first born daughter was Margot and three years later Annelies Marie Frank was
born on June 12, 1929. (Alagna, 13) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One big part of Anne s life while in hiding was writing in her diary which she called Kitty. She
wanted it to be like confiding in a friend. Anne was on a roller coaster of emotions throughout her
life which showed in the writing of her diary. Some entries were optimistic while others showed
the rough and gloomy conditions. The diary today is very famous in recounting Anne s
experience during the Holocaust and explaining the horrible treatment Jews received. Despite
how careful everyone in the annex was they were discovered and arrested on August 4, 1944 and
taken to the train station to be taken to Westerbork. Westerbork was the transit camp where
Dutch Jews were sent. (Alagna, 56) The prisoners got off at Auschwitz and were put into a
selection process to be picked for work, death, or even medical experiments. When the Franks
arrived they were separated by gender and Otto never got to see his family again. Edith, Margot,
and Anne were given rags to wear, their heads were shaved, and they were taken to the women s
barracks where a number was tattooed on their arms. They had daily roll call which could last for
hours and some people

Why Are Puppets Used In Theatre
Puppets are used in the theatre in place of actors for a variety of reasons. Using puppets means
that a production can have a large number of characters, even with limited actors, as there would
be no requirement to organise backstage issues such as complex costume changes. Additionally,
some shows may have animal characters which causes issues in terms of scale if actors were to be
used. Therefore puppets may be used as a substitute, which is additionally beneficial as they do not
have to be humanoid in shape. Depending on the type of puppetused, puppets may also be a
cheaper option and so useful for smaller scale companies with lower budgets. However, there are
also some restrictions when using puppets, in particular the limitations in movement... Show more

Generally, these puppets are more complex to use than a glove puppet but easier than a
marionette, and so provides another option for puppeteers that may be uncomfortable with
using marionettes. An advantage to using this type of puppet is that it is a full body puppet,
giving it the ability to complete actions that require legs, including walking, climbing steps, and
kicking, as well as being able to sit down. This range of motions is useful for both the puppeteers
who can show more complicated actions and scenes, and the audience who is able to gain a
more complete image of the character. The use of joints within the puppet allows for more free
movements, helping to reflect how a real person or animal would move, although this may be
restricted by the use of a rod. Unlike with marionettes where there are strings to tangle together,
these puppets would be free to work in close proximity to each other, which is useful for
productions where puppets spend time close to each other or cross over regularly. Rod puppets
can be manipulated in a large variety of ways, and so their range of movements can be increased
by having multiple puppet operators working on one puppet. Despite this, puppets that require
multiple operators in order to move can instead cause issues, especially on a small stage or when
multiple puppets have to work closely to each other. In cases like these,

Marx s Theory On Class Conflict And Society Essay
Since the french and industrial revolution in 18 century, the world had come to a new era:
capitalist society. Capitalism represents a big step forward in human productive abilities
compared with previous forms of society. Along with the social development, there was a new
group of people who was called the sociologist who analyze and try to understand how this
society works. Marx was one of them and his ideas were influential. His theory mostly emphasis
on class conflict and the society from economic aspects. This essay will first analyze Marx s
theory in detail. Then I will explain how economy and social conflict related to Marx s theory
along with the role of these factors in the capitalist society.
Marx defined social class as the class which sets the scene and moves things forward. He
sometimes talked about there are only two classes: Bourgeoisie and proletariat, the class in itself
and the class for itself, sometimes talked about there are many numbers of classes such as
capitalist, working class and landowner. There is no simple unambiguous, and universally
accepted body of Marxist doctrine. As Bob Jessop said, the thoughts of Marx in his life time
were various and far ranging. In general, Marx refers bourgeoisies as capitalists and they are
major class in that period leading into industrialization. And he thinks the petty bourgeoisie as
middle classes who cannot see themselves as part of class, only as individual. The last one, the
proletariat, was described by

Hume Lake Nonprofit Sports Organization Fundraising Plan Hume Lake Nonprofit Sports Organization Fundraising Plan Many nonprofit sports organizations receive their funds through different means, such as donations or fundraisers. One such nonprofit is Hume Lake. Hume Lake, although not specifically a sports nonprofit, is a Christian camp for all ages which receives money through donors and membership fees paid by campers. However, different methods can also be used to raise funds for Hume, such as the Humetastic pillow fight. Ultimately, after brainstorming the perfect Humetastic pillow fight, this event not only brings profit to Hume as it pays the staff and adds money to the Hume special events reserve, but also encourages Hume youth to devote their lives to Jesus and form the priority of prayer while building Christian community. Hume Lake is a Christian camp located in California and serves an important function and mission in the lives of their campers. This organization is specifically located in the Sierra Nevada, near Fresno county, in central California. Surrounded by a reservoir, Hume Lake allows their campers to feel connected in community as they spend time doing different outdoor activities such as playing football or jumping into the lake. This ties directly back to Hume s function, which is to provide an exciting and engaging environment for campers through different outdoor and indoor activities alike that will allow them to grow in their relationships with one another. The area at hand is vulnerable to droughts so the plan is aimed for towards being prepared for a potential drought rather than other uncommon disasters. • 5. The Destruction of Identity in Vertigo, The Tenant, ... The Destruction of Identity in Vertigo, The Tenant, Mulholland Drive The rudimentary form of narrative storytelling lends itself towards application to an individual subject s life story due to the correspondence of a narrative s finite bounds and the subject s mortality. Vertigo (dir. Alfred Hitchcock, 1958), The Tenant (dir. Roman Polanski, 1976), and Mulholland Drive (dir. David Lynch, 2001) are consistent with this idea because their narratives follow an individual human subject from an anecdotally significant beginning to their death. I will argue that the anthropomorphized narrative compels the subject s suicide through the misrecognition of personal identity. This occurrence brings about the themes of narrative ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Action motivates the story and conveys it temporally. (Barthes 18 20) The proairetic code is the only one without which a narrative cannot subsist. The motivation in sequence establishes a dynamic plot, ceaselessly decreasing the distance from its conclusion. Aristotle clarifies the concept of narrative motion in The Art of Poetry. Tragedy is essentially an imitation not of persons but of action and life, of happiness and misery. All human happiness or misery takes the form of action; the end for which we live is a certain kind of activity, not a quality. Character gives us qualities, but it is in our actions what we do that we are happy or the reverse. In a play accordingly they do not act in order to portray the characters; they include the characters for the sake of the action. So that it is the action in it, i.e. its fable or plot, that is the end and purpose of the tragedy; and the end is everywhere the chief thing. (Aristotle 37) The symbiotic relationship of characters these are created with what Barthes terms the connotative code and action seems menacingly inseparable, however Aristotle resigns the confusion to the narrative s impetus. He argues that the character s connotations are subordinate to and dependent on their actions, because the actions are the exclusive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Introduction. Weathering Occurs Through Interaction Between Introduction Weathering occurs through interaction between rocks, soils, and minerals and the Earth s atmosphere, biosphere, and hydrosphere. Different types of weathering fall under three general categories of weathering: physical, chemical, and biological. Tafoni weathering refers to small cavernous holes and features that is found in granular rock. Typically, these features include smooth concave walls and are adjacent with one another in networks. Tafoni weathering is a subtype of weathering that falls under hydration weathering and ultimately under the larger umbrella category of physical weathering processes. Fundamentally, this particular weathering occurs due to a salt crystal expansion process where salt crystals or deposits... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also, the Santa Monica Mountains also undergo Aeolian processes during particularly strong wind activity such as Santa Ana wind events. Moreover, our primary focus area was restrained to about a 1 mile hike into the park and reached a large volcanic swimming hole. The swimming hole acted as a boundary, but there are a few observations beyond the swimming hole that also contribute to this weathering process. In a short distance beyond the swimming hole, there is a visible fault line. Within the hike, the first observable evidence of tafoni weathering was about 40 minutes into the hike. Passing a large rock archway, tafoni weathering was evident in the rock face of the archway as well as the side of the mountains beyond this point. In addition to larger mountains, tafoni weathering was also present in smaller hillsides. This particular type of weathering was also evident in the mountains overlooking the swimming hole. The tafoni weathering observed in the mountains around the swimming hole had larger cave like features than the mountains not directly touching a body of water. Discussion Presently, there are studies conducted to better understand tafoni weathering with several investigations and theoretical models but due to limited data available on temperature, moisture and salt regimes it is difficult to ... Roland And Lanval Trial Tomma Chea A14447620 The Song of Roland and Lanval are two very different texts in perspective of plot and tone; however, specifically looking into the trials can prove them similar in numerous ways. Ganelon in The Song of Roland and Lanval in Lanval are both being tried for crimes against their kings. The trials are similar in that both characters are being accused of treason and are loyal to their king. On the other hand, the trials are dissimilar due to the reputations and attitudes of each character and the outcomes of the trials. As said before, Ganelon tried to defend himself by claiming he didn t commit treason but only acted on his vengeance toward Roland which displays his desire to win the case. Ganelon, also, recruits his friend, Pinabel, to defend him, Ganelon states, In you...friend...Now save me from death and from this accusation (Roland, pg.149, 3786 3787) this expresses Ganelon s will to win because he is requesting other sources of defense against the accusation. Taking a look at Lanval, it s clear he doesn t want to win the case because he believes that he lost the love of his life. Before Lanval was even accused he didn t care if he lived or not since he thought he lost his love, Lanval went with great sorrow; they could have killed him, for all he cared (Lanval, pg.88, 357 358) this shows he had little will to live whether he was found guilty of the accusation or not. Even after he was accused, Lanval s attitude remained, Each day they[knights] went to see him, because they wanted to know whether he was drinking or eating; they were afraid that he d killed himself (Lanval, pg.89, 411 414) this proves that Lanval still did not care much for winning the case as he was in a depressive state even after being accused. • 8. Trifles By Susan Glaspell Research Paper Symbolism in Trifles by Susan Glaspell The play Trifles by Susan Glaspell is a great example of an early feminist drama because it shows two women Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters who both realize while in the home of Mrs. Wright that she was justified in her killing her husband in the middle of the night. It shows that the ladies are women first and wives second. They help Mrs. Wright verses helping the men solve the murder because the ladies can relate and put themselves in the shoes of Mrs. Wright and, they know they would do the same thing if they were treated the same way Mrs. Wright was by her husband. For example when asked where the bird was Mrs. Hale said, we think the cat got it (Glaspell 560). In the playit shows many examples of symbolism but of all of them the ones that really stand out among the others would have to be Mrs. Wrights bird cage, the rope used to kill Mr. Wright... She was not allowed to leave so she was never able to tell anyone the way Mr. Wright really acted towards her. The birdcage door is broken and it shows the very broken marriage between Mr. and Mrs. Wright. The broken door also represents Mrs. Wright escaping the horrible marriage because when the door is open on the cage its just as if a door is open for Mrs. Wright to finally take a chance to make a run for it. As much as she would have liked to just run it was 1916 and in that time divorce was never an option for anyone no matter the circumstances. Now imagine that much of the outcomes of this disaster could have been averted if proper mitigation measures had been utilized. The mitigation measures necessary to prevent this disaster would have been a fraction of the cost spent on emergency relief measures. For many people in New Orleans this scenario was a reality when Hurricane Katrinahappened. Analysis The first action that could drastically reduce the damages and loss of life is educating the population in New Orleans. There needs to be several kinds of education provided for the residents of the city. The pre dissemination of the evacuation and disaster plan could have made a drastic difference in the number of lives lost (Boyd, Wolshon, Heerden, 2009). This way the citizens of New Orleans would have known how to react and what to expect on the event of a hurricane. If those who could not self evacuate would have known of the resources available to assist them in evacuating the death tolls could have been drastically reduced. Almost half of those who died due to hurricane Katrina were over the age of seventy four (Plyer, 2014). It is tragic that those who were the least able to protect themselves were abandoned to the caprice of the storm. Through informing citizens of the plans and resources available to them in the event of disaster another tragedy like Hurricane Katrina can be prevented. Another form of education required mitigating the effects of another storm like Katrina would be to make citizens aware of the inherent danger with each hurricane. The biggest challenge in educating citizens in the danger of hurricanes is the complacency effect (Wang Kapucu, 2007). This means that citizens come to believe that because they were fine before that they will be fine this time. To overcome this, citizens need to understand the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The right hemisphere controls emotions, insight, music, and creativity. The right braincontrols the left part of the body. The left brain controls the right part of the body. The hypothesis was to explore the extent to which the two halves of the human brain are able to function independently, and whether they have separate and unique abilities. If language is controlled by the left side of the brain, how would your ability to speak and understand words be affected by this surgery? People who are not followers of the faith, believe that the roles of women compared to the men are unequal. Which holds some truth, but according to followers it is not completely correct. Stereotypical Roles of Muslim Women In many cases, non Muslims looking in at the women in Islam perceive their role to be one associated with negativity. This, forces the women in the Islamic culture to be guarded since, these stereotypes invade on their culture and personality as an individual. One common misconception about Muslim women is that they live under an oppressive dictatorship ruled by their husbands and fathers. Which can be very misleading since, many people start to think that the women are forced into marriage and are forced to wear the veil. Although, some of these ideas are true, they re not oppressive of the women within the Muslim community. Instead, many of these ideas are customary and are part of their culture. The basic role of a Muslim women is to be devoted and enthusiastic about raising the children and being a good wife. Which seems to be a common role promoted in most other cultures as well. Therefore, it s not unusual for a woman to be perceived as the individual responsible of taking care of the house and the children. When reading this quote, there can almost be an immediate connection between two very good works of writing: Macbeth s Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow speechfrom Shakespeare s tragedy, Macbeth, and the poem Out, Out by Robert Frost. Both allude to the idea that a single life, in its totality, denotes nothing, and eventually, everyone s candleof life is blown out. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Frost, on the other hand, wipes out his character and leaves us with the feeling as that death will silence the memories of all who knew the child. With the major differences in these works of writing, there are also many similarities among the two. Both Shakespeare and Frost are trying to say death is inevitable. It takes place at different times and under different circumstances for everyone, but none the less, it cannot be avoided. Everyone also deals with death in their own way. Macbeth almost discards the news of his wife s death, as he talks about life itself and how he feels about it. The people in Frost s poem are also unfazed about the death of the boy. Another similarity is that in both poems, the people move forward with their lives. This is a reflection of human nature; most of us don t grieve forever, but eventually find a point where we re able to accept the death a loved one. Robert Frost and William Shakespeare have been celebrated by many people because of their ability to express themselves through the written word. Here we are years after their deaths analyzing these fascinating poems about life and death. These outfits represent the type of relationship she is in. Throughout the book, they also show how she evolves into a strong, self confident woman. In Their Eyes Were Watching God, clothing symbolizes where Janie is in her life and the type of relationship she is part of. When Janie finds out that her grandmother wants her to marry Logan Killicks, she is horrified because she is not attracted to him. She even goes so far as to say that He looks like some ole skullhead in de graveyard (13). Soon after the start of her marriage, she finds out how unhappy she truly is with her relationship. She wears an apron because of how much time she spends in the kitchen. Use of joint operations and joint functions is imperative at operational and strategic levels of military operations. During all joint missions, Joint Operations Planning Process (JOPP) and Joint Intelligence Planning of the Operating Environment (JIPOE) are critical. Each function within JOPP and each step within JIPOE help the commander make critical decisions. These decisions eliminate confusion and assist subordinate commanders in their mission planning. Ultimately, I will conclude that the standards are indeed compatible with a Democratic State of Education given the latitude that states have in tailoring the standards and given the fact that Common Core does not exclusively determine curriculum. The Common Core State Standards are the contrivance of a commission of governors and education leaders from forty eight states sponsored by the National Governors Association and the Council of Chief State School Officers. The overarching goals of the commission in drafting the standards were to ensure that all students have the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in college, career, and life... regardless of where they live, and to promote equity by ensuring all students are well prepared to collaborate and compete with their peers in the United States and abroad. • 23. Low Ph Groundwater Discharge Drives Natural Acidification... High pCO2, low pH groundwater discharge drives natural acidification of reefs Christina M. Richardson, Henrietta Dulai, Brian Popp, and Kathleen Ruttenberg Abstract Diel changes in the marine carbonate chemistry of reefs are thought to be primarily biologically driven. The presence of groundwater discharge in nearshore reefs may complicate our understanding of carbon cycling in these systems, however. Here we show that coastal groundwater inputs shift and heighten biologically induced changes in marine pH, driving natural acidification and CaCO3 dissolution along a salinity gradient in two Hawaiian coral reefs. We examined two contrasting fringing reefs with variable pCO2 (1800 4000 ?atm), low pHT (7.4 7.5), and low ?aragonite (0.3 ? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We observed changes in pHT from groundwater inputs ranging from 0.01 0.40 pHT units and mean daily changes of 0.04 ? 0.08 to 0.18 ? 0.16 pHT units at sites located closest to the groundwater springs. Further, our data revealed a shift in reef metabolism from net dissolution to net calcification across this groundwater driven physicochemical gradient. At sites with high levels of groundwater exposure, dissolution rates were elevated. Reef systems experiencing groundwater discharge may be placed under similar physicochemical constraints as expected with future ocean acidification conditions. As such, our results may shed light on how natural reef communities will respond to changes in carbonate chemistry due to ocean acidification. 1. Introduction Atmospheric CO2 levels are projected to reach 730 to 1090 ppm by 2100 due to rising anthropogenic CO2 inputs (IPCC 2007, Joos et al., 2001, Meehl et al., 2005, Wigley 2004, Wigley and Raper 2001). Oceanic uptake of CO2 is raising marine pCO2 and lowering pH as the dominant dissolved carbonate species in sea water shift from CO32 and HCO3 towards HCO3 and H2CO3, a process known as ocean acidification (OA) (Qu?r? et al., 2012). Declines in pH and ?aragonite associated with emerging changes in carbonate chemistry due to OA will impact diverse marine biota (Doney et al., 2009). Oceanic pH is predicted to decrease by 0.3 ? 0.4 pH units as a result of OA by the end of the century (Doney et al., 2009, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The characters are constantly following things that pop up in their mind and coincidentally happening. I believe that in both stories Destiny has the greatest impact on multiple things but the main controversial topic is personal choices. That s why I believe in Ovid s PT and Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet, Destiny had a greater impact on characters. One example from Romeo and Juliet is when Romeo accidentally get invited to a Capulets party where coincidentally Juliet is there. These are shown in the play when Romeo says Romeo suggests as much before he goes to the party where he first meets Juliet: I fear, too early for my minds misgive some consequences yet hanging in the stars. Even though they are not validly appointed, the s4 of the Act can as well consider certain persons to be directors, but only if the contrary intention appears. Each generation has been engaging in union with instruments and song to express sorrow, joy, heartbreak, life, death, love and so on. As music has grown and become more popular, more ways to listen to it have been introduced. Besides live music, the best way to listen to any artist is through a cassette tape. Cassette tapes show beneficial purposes in economics in areas such as marketing, entertainment and the music industry. Cassettes have been benefiting America s market because people have been buying them for decades. The first cassette tape to ever be produced was in 1962 in Germany and was later introduced to America in 1966. Reaching its peak in 1990, over 442,000,000 cassettes were sold in the US alone; this even exceeded the amount of records that were also being sold. When a product is selling at such a high rate, workers are needed to make the music, put together the tapes or sell them in the stores. Not only was music made on them, but blank ones were sold as well so buyers could put together their own mix for themselves, a friend or someone special. Clear cutting old growth is the best way to accomplish this. This approach leads to quick financial gain but is not best for the long term or the trees. At the very end of the novel he says, For all to be accomplished, for me to feel less lonely, all that remained to hope was that on the day of my execution there should be a huge crowd of spectators and that they should greet me with howls of execration (Camus, 75). The quote is said by Meursault as he feels that he deserves the disdain of the society because he is different from others. Literary element tone is noticeable in this quote as it shows the change of the emotion of Meursault. He does not think the same way as the people in his society does. What I found most interesting was the story of Nelson Reinsch and his ability to keep an open mind in order to benefit from an ever changing system of comparative advantage. Nelson worked his entire life as a cotton farmer, most of which was in the cottonest city in the world, Lubbock Texas. It was fascinating to hear first hand accounts of how the cotton industry changed throughout Nelson s life. Human beings have been accorded the right of protection and preservation of the environment, where the animals belong. In essence, humanity is all about coexisting with animals and plants, together with the other non living matter. With preference of human beings over animals, and with preference of animals over plants, every category higher than the other, is relinquishing the capacity to dominate and coexist with the higher authority. The world is evidently a home to both plants and animals, including the non living matter. All animals are living. Moreover, all plants are living. The distinction between human beings and other animals has led to the establishment of a code of relationship and use which human beings has embraced over the years. Human beings have dominion over animals. This is in accordance with the innate characteristics and capabilities that human beings possess unlike other animals (Hargrove 168). With respect to this, human beings have often used animals in assorted ways. The many ways that animals are beneficial to human beings has elicited concerns over the rights of animals. • 42. Richard Pryor Comic Style Did you know that Richard Pryor was one of the most famous comedians of his time and is still very well known? He was born on December 1, 1940, in Peoria, IL by his mother Gertrude L. Thomas. As a young boy, Richard was raised in a brothel where his mother worked and was doing things no young child should see, and he couldn t live with his father because he was a treacherous pimp and was not fit to raise young Richard. As a boy, he was very fond of his grandmother and that was one reason for his motherwas always gone and not really in his life and his grandmother was the only adult really involved in his life. When he was only six years old Richard was sexually assaulted by a neighbor, and he was also abused by a priest when he was an altar boy. Early in his comedian career, Richard was modeling his comedy, which was based mostly on Bill Cosby s work. • 43. Early Cinema Versus Modern Bodies Of Work When looking at early cinema compared to modern bodies of work, one thing that has changed dramatically was the way films were edited. From the 1900s through the 1960s, films such as L Arroseur arrosГ©, Battleship Potemkin, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari and Citizen Kane, all had their own way of telling a visual narrative. I m going to give examples of how editing evolved and what techniques were developed. When looking at the LumiГ©re bros, one of their earlier works L Arroseur arrosГ© , the editing was very simple. What we see on screen is a wide angle two shot of a man working in a garden, using a hose. As mentioned in Sikov, Film Studies: An Introduction, Eisenstein used montage to convey and explore revolutionary ways for the audience to watch films. Eisenstein believed that montage must consist of colliding shots. Editing the shots rapidly, to exhibit conflict, making a sequence that more intense. His film, Battleship Potemkin, is a great example of the soviet montage. There s one sequence in particular, The Odessa Step that helps express this. Time becomes a memory of another life. Ten years pass within a day, then you wake up and another decade has been added to the distance, an alien life form, a foreign place, another person inhabiting your body in the past, and, yet, the memories flood the goop of your brain, as if the single greatest loss of your life happened this morning. • 50. Why Are Puppets Used In Theatre Puppets are used in the theatre in place of actors for a variety of reasons. Using puppets means that a production can have a large number of characters, even with limited actors, as there would be no requirement to organise backstage issues such as complex costume changes. Additionally, some shows may have animal characters which causes issues in terms of scale if actors were to be used. Therefore puppets may be used as a substitute, which is additionally beneficial as they do not have to be humanoid in shape. Depending on the type of puppetused, puppets may also be a cheaper option and so useful for smaller scale companies with lower budgets. However, there are also some restrictions when using puppets, in particular the limitations in movement... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Generally, these puppets are more complex to use than a glove puppet but easier than a marionette, and so provides another option for puppeteers that may be uncomfortable with using marionettes. An advantage to using this type of puppet is that it is a full body puppet, giving it the ability to complete actions that require legs, including walking, climbing steps, and kicking, as well as being able to sit down. This range of motions is useful for both the puppeteers who can show more complicated actions and scenes, and the audience who is able to gain a more complete image of the character. The use of joints within the puppet allows for more free movements, helping to reflect how a real person or animal would move, although this may be restricted by the use of a rod. Unlike with marionettes where there are strings to tangle together, these puppets would be free to work in close proximity to each other, which is useful for productions where puppets spend time close to each other or cross over regularly. Rod puppets can be manipulated in a large variety of ways, and so their range of movements can be increased by having multiple puppet operators working on one puppet. Despite this, puppets that require multiple operators in order to move can instead cause issues, especially on a small stage or when multiple puppets have to work closely to each other. Capitalism represents a big step forward in human productive abilities compared with previous forms of society. Along with the social development, there was a new group of people who was called the sociologist who analyze and try to understand how this society works. Marx was one of them and his ideas were influential. His theory mostly emphasis on class conflict and the society from economic aspects. This essay will first analyze Marx s theory in detail. Then I will explain how economy and social conflict related to Marx s theory along with the role of these factors in the capitalist society. Marx defined social class as the class which sets the scene and moves things forward. He sometimes talked about there are only two classes: Bourgeoisie and proletariat, the class in itself and the class for itself, sometimes talked about there are many numbers of classes such as capitalist, working class and landowner. There is no simple unambiguous, and universally accepted body of Marxist doctrine. As Bob Jessop said, the thoughts of Marx in his life time were various and far ranging. In general, Marx refers bourgeoisies as capitalists and they are major class in that period leading into industrialization. And he thinks the petty bourgeoisie as middle classes who cannot see themselves as part of class, only as individual. The last one, the proletariat, was described by ...
