Edith Wharton s novel, House of Mirth, written in 1905 centers around Lily Bart, a single woman
in her late twenties, who is constantly struggling to maintain her status in high society. Lily

which a bill becomes a law is an example of the democratic way of life here in The United States.
The fact that a proposal cannot become a law without consideration and approval by both houses
of congress is an outstanding virtue of our bicameral legislative system. (Maes 1 2) Anyone can
create a bill not just a member of congress. Any citizen, group or organization can draw up a bill
just from an idea. The right to petition is guaranteed by the first amendment. These bills are usually
written in the form of a letter. It is estimated that more then 15,000 bills are introduced to The
House of Representatives and the Senate each year. Each one is then assigned to a committeeafter it
is given a number. Twenty two of these committees belong to The House of Representatives and
fifteen to the Senate. There are four types of committees, they are; the Standing Committee, The
Select Committee, The Conference Committee and The Joint Committee. The Standing Committee

The True Meaning Of The Gospel Of God
Around the world and throughout all the different versions of Christianity, there are so many
things that people call the gospel . Some say it is the only way to get to Heaven, or that it is a
doctrine of damnation that God sent us to right our wrongs. Ravi Zacharias stated in a video
sermon what he thinks that the gospel has become when he says, It became I think cheapened
and somehow diluted if not polluted and so an average person who view what is the gospel they
say it is the same old thing, you re a sinner and you re heading to hell... (Zacharias). Most
individuals in today s time do not know what Gods true love is or what the real meaning of the
gospel is truly because of the situations they have been in during their lives and what society has
made it out to be. According to Webster s Dictionary the definition of the word gospel is, The
message concerning Christ, the kingdom of God, and salvation, (Webstersdictionary.com).
Though this is a technical definition, the Gospel of God is so much more than just teachings.
The Gospel can help those who have never met God, since it is the good news that should be
preached to everyone, it is how believers go and make more disciples throughout the world, and
through it is a way for everyone to connect with God on a personal and spiritual level.
