Reasons of powerCut
• Current theft.
• Telugana issue shortage of supply of coal.
• Powerlenders are charging more / unit.
• Increased industries and infrastructure
  develeopement.
• Previous Government faulty governence .

• Lack of efficient usage of
  current in ethical way.
Laptops -is your’s G-One or RA-One
• Laptops are made of many Toxic materials like
  Dioxins,Polychlorinated Biphenyls(PCBS) ,Cadmium ,Chromium
  ,Radioactive Isotapes ,Mercury and Lead.
• If Not treated properly they are sources of Toxin and
carcinogen , releases materials such as lead, mercury, or
cadmium into the soil, groundwater, and atmosphere, thus
having a negative impact on the environment.
• According to Greenpeace, some brominated flame
retardants (BFRs), used in circuit boards and plastic
casings, do not break down easily and build up in the
environment. Long-term exposure can lead to impaired
  learning and memory functions.
• Circuit boards contain considerable quantities of lead-tin solders that
are more likely to leach into groundwater or create air pollution due
to incineration. The processing-like incineration and acid treatments-
required to reclaim these precious substances may
release, generate, or synthesize toxic byproducts. They can also
interfere with thyroid and oestrogen hormone systems and exposure
in the womb has been linked to behavioural problems.
• PVC is a plastic used in some electronics products and for insulation on
wires and cables. Chlorinated dioxins and furans are released when
PVC is produced or disposed of by incineration. These chemicals are
highly persistent in the environment and many are toxic even in very
  low concentrations.
• Companies may find it cost-effective in the short term to sell outdated
computers to less developed countries with Tax regulations. It is
commonly believed that a majority of surplus laptops are routed
to developing nations as "dumping grounds for e-waste”.
• Climate Change caused by dumbing or recycling process
• If treated properly laptops are valubale sources for secondary
  raw material.
Green Model Certifications
• Energy Star
• Blue Angel
• Energy Saving Trust
• EU Ecolabel
• TCO
• EPEAT Label
Energy Star or EPA
• A Program launched by Envoironment Protection Agencies
  in 1992
• ENERGY STAR is a joint program of the U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy
helping us all save money and protect the environment
through energy efficient products and practices.
• Reduce greenhouse gas emissions and other pollutants
  caused by the inefficient use of energy;
• Make it easy for consumers to identify and purchase
energy-efficient products that offer savings on energy bills
without sacrificing performance, features, and comfort.
• The TCO and EPEAT labels below use the Energy Star
  energy consumption criteria.
Energy Saving Trust
• A UK government energy efficiency
  program, an Energy Saving Trust
  Recommended desktop computer will use
around 40% less energy in a year than an
  average new computer.
• Carbon Foot Print Measuring and rating.
EU Ecolabel
• The criteria cover the life cycle of the product
from manufacture to disposal and include
energy use, limits on the use of hazardous
materials and recyclability of the product.
EPEAT Label
• EPEAT (Electronic Product Environmental Assessment
Tool) is managed and operated by the Green
Electronics Council, a US NGO. The label covers criteria
for design, production, energy and materials use and
recycling with ongoing independent verification of
manufacturer claims after registration. EPEAT evaluates
electronic products in relation to 51 total
environmental criteria, 23 required criteria and 28
optional criteria. Products are then ranked by EPEAT
according to three tiers of environmental performance
  – Bronze, Silver, and Gold.
TCO
• TCO is a widely respected international eco-label
developed by a Swedish trade union. It is a voluntary
scheme which is third party verified. It uses Energy Star
criteria for energy consumption, and a wide range of
specific criteria for different products including limits
on toxic chemicals and design for recycling. The TCO
certification system also requires that the brand owner
  actively promotes social responsibility
• TCO Certified goes beyond green by combining
features such as high performance and ergonomic
design with one of the toughest environmental
  requirements on the market.

WAY TO CONTROL THESE ISSUE
• Customer Point of Angle
   – ( What is the need / Is it really Essential / What about the
     Older One)
• Manufacturing Point of Angle
   – ( What is the Cause and Effects in using this energy/ how
to reimburse it / Environmental Policies/ Avoiding BFR &
PVC / Using Recyclable Materials for production / Take
back policy / refurbishing / Supply Chain Management/
Worker comfort and 48 hour weekly work policy )
• Government and other Welfare Association
   – ( Trade Policy / Amendments / Strict Laws / Enforcement /
Awareness Camp / Rewarding / honoring Outstanding
Manufacturer / Reviewing New alternate Technology )
Tips for better usage of Computers
            And laptops

Tips for effectiv e usage and Env .docx
BEST WAY TO USE IS !
• Deploy stand-by mode. Computers can be configured to go into sleep, standby, or
hibernate mode if left unused after a period of time. EPA recommends having
them go into such a mode after 30 to 60 minutes of inactivity, though setting it for
a shorter period of time saves even more energy. Using the sleep or hibernate
mode can cut an average computer's power consumption by half, the agency
estimates. Keep in mind hibernation is not the same as running a screen-
saver, which does not, contrary to popular belief, save any energy. EnergyStar
offers a free program called EZ Wizard that walks you through the process of
setting up power-management features in Microsoft Windows XP. Power-saving
software is available for the Macintosh as well, through the Power Save Mac
    software.
• Extend laptop lifetime. Does your current laptop do everything you need? If
so, consider holding onto it for a while longer. These days, even models five or six
years old can execute almost all currently offered software. Getting more life out
of your laptop not only saves you money but makes more efficient use of the
materials that have already been deployed. If you do get a new laptop, and your
old model still works, consider donating it to a non-profit, such as Computers with
Causes, which refurbishes computers for educational institutions. Or donate to
someone else in need of a computer.
THANK YOU !

  • 5. Laptops -is your’s G-One or RA-One • Laptops are made of many Toxic materials like Dioxins,Polychlorinated Biphenyls(PCBS) ,Cadmium ,Chromium ,Radioactive Isotapes ,Mercury and Lead. • If Not treated properly they are sources of Toxin and carcinogen , releases materials such as lead, mercury, or cadmium into the soil, groundwater, and atmosphere, thus having a negative impact on the environment. • According to Greenpeace, some brominated flame retardants (BFRs), used in circuit boards and plastic casings, do not break down easily and build up in the environment. Long-term exposure can lead to impaired learning and memory functions.
  • 6. • Circuit boards contain considerable quantities of lead-tin solders that are more likely to leach into groundwater or create air pollution due to incineration. The processing-like incineration and acid treatments- required to reclaim these precious substances may release, generate, or synthesize toxic byproducts. They can also interfere with thyroid and oestrogen hormone systems and exposure in the womb has been linked to behavioural problems. • PVC is a plastic used in some electronics products and for insulation on wires and cables. Chlorinated dioxins and furans are released when PVC is produced or disposed of by incineration. These chemicals are highly persistent in the environment and many are toxic even in very low concentrations. • Companies may find it cost-effective in the short term to sell outdated computers to less developed countries with Tax regulations. It is commonly believed that a majority of surplus laptops are routed to developing nations as "dumping grounds for e-waste”. • Climate Change caused by dumbing or recycling process • If treated properly laptops are valubale sources for secondary raw material.

  • 8. Energy Star or EPA • A Program launched by Envoironment Protection Agencies in 1992 • ENERGY STAR is a joint program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy helping us all save money and protect the environment through energy efficient products and practices. • Reduce greenhouse gas emissions and other pollutants caused by the inefficient use of energy; • Make it easy for consumers to identify and purchase energy-efficient products that offer savings on energy bills without sacrificing performance, features, and comfort. • The TCO and EPEAT labels below use the Energy Star energy consumption criteria.
  • 9. Energy Saving Trust • A UK government energy efficiency program, an Energy Saving Trust Recommended desktop computer will use around 40% less energy in a year than an average new computer. • Carbon Foot Print Measuring and rating.
  • 10. EU Ecolabel • The criteria cover the life cycle of the product from manufacture to disposal and include energy use, limits on the use of hazardous materials and recyclability of the product.
  • 11. EPEAT Label • EPEAT (Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool) is managed and operated by the Green Electronics Council, a US NGO. The label covers criteria for design, production, energy and materials use and recycling with ongoing independent verification of manufacturer claims after registration. EPEAT evaluates electronic products in relation to 51 total environmental criteria, 23 required criteria and 28 optional criteria. Products are then ranked by EPEAT according to three tiers of environmental performance – Bronze, Silver, and Gold.
  • 12. TCO • TCO is a widely respected international eco-label developed by a Swedish trade union. It is a voluntary scheme which is third party verified. It uses Energy Star criteria for energy consumption, and a wide range of specific criteria for different products including limits on toxic chemicals and design for recycling. The TCO certification system also requires that the brand owner actively promotes social responsibility • TCO Certified goes beyond green by combining features such as high performance and ergonomic design with one of the toughest environmental requirements on the market.

  • 30. BEST WAY TO USE IS ! • Deploy stand-by mode. Computers can be configured to go into sleep, standby, or hibernate mode if left unused after a period of time. EPA recommends having them go into such a mode after 30 to 60 minutes of inactivity, though setting it for a shorter period of time saves even more energy. Using the sleep or hibernate mode can cut an average computer's power consumption by half, the agency estimates. Keep in mind hibernation is not the same as running a screen- saver, which does not, contrary to popular belief, save any energy. EnergyStar offers a free program called EZ Wizard that walks you through the process of setting up power-management features in Microsoft Windows XP. Power-saving software is available for the Macintosh as well, through the Power Save Mac software. • Extend laptop lifetime. Does your current laptop do everything you need? If so, consider holding onto it for a while longer. These days, even models five or six years old can execute almost all currently offered software. Getting more life out of your laptop not only saves you money but makes more efficient use of the materials that have already been deployed. If you do get a new laptop, and your old model still works, consider donating it to a non-profit, such as Computers with Causes, which refurbishes computers for educational institutions. Or donate to someone else in need of a computer.
