Stateofthenet - Internet killed the politician star?
1. Internet killed the political star State of the Net Udine | 8-9 febbraio 2008 * Immagine da 2004 Get Out the Vote. http://www.aiga.org/content.cfm/get-out-the-vote-2008
8. If it were not for the internet, and all the campaign- and voter-generated activism that it has enabled, Hillary Clinton would already be the Democratic Party's presumptive nominee ( Micah Sifry @ techpresident) Is Barack Obama is “Howard Dean on steroids”? a Model for Online Politics?
9. 24% of Americans look online for information about the presidential candidates. And this chunk is even larger for younger voters, measuring at 47% in 2007, up from 21% the year before. ( Micah Sifry @ techpresident) Obama's supporters are net natives. They know how to use the medium to spread messages.
13. Online ads by the campaigns are expected to hit $20 million. The campaigns are expected to spend $4.8 billion on advertising this year. That puts online ad spending at 0.41% of total campaign ad spending.

PARTECIPAZIONE. Do Internet and social network really mean more political participation? Which is the "quality" of this participation? How the American presidential candidates and grassroots supporters are using the web -- sites like Facebook, YouTube, and MySpace -- in the campaign process. I think this 2008 cycle has shown that, thanks to the internet, more people are getting involved with politics in more ways. It is ever so slowly changing the way we interact with our government, and the way they interact with us.
