TIMELINESS
 Timeliness means freshness in news.
 Recent events have higher news value than
earlier happenings.
 If you are providing breaking news instantly,

 Example: If Pakistan won cricket match with
India and you are publishing that news after

 Proximity means closeness to home.
 Stories about events and situations in one’s

 EXAMPLE: If Mahira Khan has Cancer, so this
news gives value while an ordinary cancer
patient would not have commanded the
attention of worthy news.
CURRENCY
 Currency means frequency in news.
 More value is attributed to stories that are in
the spotlight of public concern rather than to
issues about which people care less.
 It can be follow-up of any raising issue.
 EXAPMLE: If murder and abduction of a
young boy is running for weeks and weeks, so
people will wait for further developments and
turning point of that issue.

 Novelty means any interesting fact or
uniqueness in a story which you do not hear
