2. The Viewing
• This is the viewing of the run, I had Gracia and Ashley, they met he
age of the target audience we had and have personally really
wanted to see out opening sequence.
• They both seemed to enjoy it they were laughing and smiling at
certain bits that we had hoped them to when creating our comedy.
• I played the clip from the beginning and faced the camera towards
them to that I could see their reactions and facial expressions to
the opening sequence.

3. In what ways does your media product
use, develop or challenge forms and
conventions of real media products?
The conventions of comedy tend to involve the sort of
stuff that would make a person laugh, this could involve
slapstick comedy, silent films and others just through
the use of music and sound effects.
Our opening sequence uses these to add the comedic
effect. The music is more dramatic than needed, we
have record stopping as one of the characters trip and
people being thrown about by others.
It is a regular occurrence in certain action movies for
someone to rob a bank, yet through this we have added
our own comedic twist to it, we have challenged the
idea of action films by adding comedy to make it seem a
lot less serious.
We have challenged what you would initially see of
middle aged men robbing a bank and have replaced
them with teenage boys, despite this being the cause of
the actors that we used to play them it shows
uniqueness of people robbing a bank that you wouldn't
expect to. By combining action and comedy we see a
vulnerable side to the boys, that you would see if they
had done something wrong in another setting but here
we see it as they are in a rushed panic to get away from
the police.
Some things so serious as robbing a bank can be seen as
quite a big and possibly not used factor in comedy
films, so we have challenged this and applied the
robbing of the bank to be the main element of this film.
4. How does your media product
represent particular social groups?
• I asked Garcia and Ashley
the question of what
they thought about we
have presented a
particular social
group, they looked at
teenagers and how we
have stereotyped them
but in a different and
unexpected way. By
making them rob and
steal it suits with the
stereotype that
teenagers tend to be
hooligans and break
rules, which is what we
have used in our opening
sequence.
5. What kind of media institution might
distribute your media product and
why?
• The sort of media institution that I would see
distribute my film would be SKY they work in
producing films that cover a range of different
genres and seeing as our film combines the two
genres together it is perfect for the company.
they show films in High definition which i believe
will really capture the true style of our
film, showing everything in detail. Sky movies
also works i showing films that have come out a
few months ago in premieres, unlike other
channel and institutions our film will be shown in
the same year it’s filmed instead of a few years
later.
6. Who would be the audience for your
media product?
• According to the questionnaire that I carried
out, the most people that viewed it were
teenagers between 11 and 20, which we see as
being the most appropriate age for our film ‘On
The Run’, It contains action, comedy and
adventure which were shown as the most
popular genres from my questionnaire. The age I
believe suits because the audience and
characters are roughly the same age, so they
have the ability to relate to the characters and
the sort of things they have to go through.
7. How did you attract/address your
audience?
• I attracted my audience by
making our film look and seem
interesting, making them want
to watch, who wouldn’t wanna
see how three teenage boys
manage to rob a bank?
• We included comedy which was
the most popular genre in the
questionnaire and this was
backed up in the viewing of it
when the audience watching
were laughing at the parts that
we wanted them to.
• I asked Ashley and Gracia what
they personally thought of the
opening sequence and this is the
result they came out with.
8. What have you learnt about technologies
from the process of constructing this
product?
• The different technology that I used when creating ‘On The Run’ helped
with preparing and processing the production. I used these elements to
create the Opening sequence:
• Final cut pro
• Vimeo
• Blogs
• Cameras
• Ipads
9. • Final cut pro- Final cut pro was used to upload and edit out
vide, through the use of different media, transitions and
conversions, we were able to create our Opening sequence.
I learnt from this that editing and creating a video take time
and effort and is a lot harder than i though it would be. it
challenged us to use new things and create a more
effective piece.
• Vimeo- We used Vimeo to upload our cuts and final video
to, we were able to add descriptions, tags and any other
information about the videos, so that people knew about
what they were watching. The video wouldn’t upload to
Vimeo at some points because it wasn’t in the right format
so we had to change it so that it would work. It was a useful
place to store all of our cuts and it gave people the
opportunity to view our work and we can view there’s to
and give feedback.
10. • Blogs- by blogging we were able to keep up to date with all that was
happening with our opening sequence. We could update them with
anything new that’s happened and areas that created our opening
sequence and have it all in one place to access easily. It is useful keeping
our work somewhere where it can be viewed, observed and checked and
if anything is wrong or anything changes we have the ability to fix it
quickly and effectively.
• Cameras- through the use of cameras we were able to take pictures and
record our opening sequence. I learnt and figured out that it takes time to
prepare the camera for filming and that there are loads of settings and
precautions that need to be taken in order to be ready to film.
• Ipads- We used Ipads to look at how we can do things on Final cut pro and
how we can edited certain areas that we wanted to edited. It was a useful
piece of technology to use, because we didn't need to ask for help and we
could instead look at the area we wanted on the Ipad, watch a video that
covers and know what to do with the ability to get that help over and over
again. Ipads are a useful piece of technology they are easily accessible and
held all the information that we needed.
11. Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel
you have learnt in the progression from it to the full
product?
• When looking back at our preliminary task compared to
task we have just created, you can see a big change
between the two. For example we used two different
editing tools, we used IMovie for the preliminary task and
final cut pro for the opening sequence. We faced more
challenges with the final task and we had higher
expectations for it, so we needed to make sure that it
suited the standards we needed with how it looked and
how made it look. I believe the difference has helped me
progress in a positive way, this opening sequence has
challenged my abilities in media and I have definitely learnt
a lot more from starting it and from this I know what I can
do and what I can use for any future productions.
