1. Reflection
Meeting the Needs of Children and Families
In this assignment, I have chosen the topic and researched about Asperger’s
Syndrome. The most important thing I have learned from this assignment is one
simple initiative and little help can make big changes. I have felt a strong
connection with our future responsibilities and this assignment.
I have followed our step by step process and browsed the web sites that our teacher
gave us to do this assignment. At first I have searched for the basic information of
disability, like, what are the sign and symptoms? What are the causes? etc;
because, before provide any information to parents, I need to have a clear
conception about the child’s disabilities. After that I have searched for the
information about childcare settings based on child’s needs. Then I have gathered
information for the summer program for the child. This assignment was a valuable
experience for me because, from this whole process I have learned about our
personal and social responsibilities in inclusion, and how we can help children and
their families. I have found this assignment as a representation of our future
responsibilities in childcare centre. This is also related to our Global Citizenship
and Equity learning outcomes. It is like an indicator of our responsibilities to the
world not only like an ECE but also as a global citizen.
