Why?
Goal Setting and Orientation allows us to discover what we want to be in the near/long future,
analyze our strengths and weaknesses, look where we are now and finally which opportunities
do we have to take in order to get the development we want.
And one more thing is that makes us understand how to link our life and our dream with
AIESEC.
What? (Tool)
There are two Goal Setting and Orientation Tools. One is for new members and the other one is
for the experienced members. They are given to you and it contains every detail you need. Set
a room nicely if you both want in order to be comfortable. And make it last for 1 to 1,5 hour.
Both tools are separated by:
 Where I want to go (Personal Questions)
 Where am I now (Understanding my-self and understanding me in my team -
contribution)
 How can I go (Opportunities and specific timeline for future aspects)
Who to whom?
Main driver for Goal Setting: LCVP TM
Main responsible for Goal Setting: ALL members
Main responsible who run Goal Setting: LCP, LCVPs, TLs
LCP to LCVPs
LCVPs to their TLs
TLs to their TMs
HR Department 2012-2013
When?
Goal Setting and Orientation for new members should be done at the begging of their team
experience. And Goal Setting and Orientation for experienced members should be done at the
begging and at the end of their experience.
Process
Goal Setting and Orientation for new members should be done after their Team and Individual
Plan (at the begging of their team experience). And Goal Setting and Orientation for
experienced members should be done at the beginning and at the end of their team experience.
In this process we can contain Team and Individual Plan for numerical goals, Goal Setting
and Orientation for the personal goals in the team and Mentorship for personal goals in our
life.
Things to have in mind before doing Goal Setting (Steps):
 Train everyone that will do a goal setting
 Before starting the Goal Setting the members need to have completed the CAT
 Inform from the beginning the member why this process is happening and how long it will
take
 Have a timeline for your member’s goal setting-Place it at the beginning of their team XP
and at the end
 Put reminders in order to forward specific opportunities to specific members in order to
keep track of their goal setting and their development path.
