During Cell Division
When a cell is not dividing, the DNA is preparing for
division.
When chromosomes are duplicated, it forms sister
chromatids.
The duplicated chromosome has
a narrow “waist” called the
centromere, where the sisters are
attached.

Mitosis: The division of the
nucleus, and is usually followed
immediately by cytokinesis,
the division of the cytoplasm.
Meiosis: Produce gametes (egg + sperm cells). Has
1 set of chromosomes, and yields non-identical
