📌Free webinar on "Natural Healing"
The healing power of nature refers to the body's innate ability to heal itself. When illness or imbalance occurs the body naturally wants to correct this in an effort to be healthy and well. As naturopaths we believe that symptoms are a manifestation of the body's attempt to rehabilitate.
Naturopathic medicine recognizes and respects the inherent self-healing ability of the body. Identify and Treat the Cause. The naturopathic doctor seeks to identify and remove the underlying causes of illness, rather than trying to eliminate or suppress symptoms. First Do No Harm.

4. Natural healing and science
The definition of Healing
With physical trauma or disease suffered by an organism, healing involves the repairing of damaged
tissue(s), organs and the biological system as a whole and resumption of (normal) functioning. Medicine
includes the process by which the cells in the body regenerate and repair to reduce the size of a
damaged or necrotic area and replace it with new living tissue. The replacement can happen in two
ways: by regeneration in which the necrotic cells are replaced by new cells that form "like" tissue as was
originally there; or by repair in which injured tissue is replaced with scar tissue. Most organs will heal
using a mixture of both mechanisms
5. Naturopathy
Practices
Naturopathy, or naturopathic medicine, is a form of alternative medicine.
A wide array of pseudoscientific practices branded as "natural", "non-invasive",
or promoting "self-healing" are employed by its practitioners, who are known as naturopaths.
What is the role of Naturopathy?
Naturopathy cures patients suffering from chronic ailments in comparatively less
time than any other form of medicine. Naturopathy treats all the aspects like physical,
mental, social and spiritual at the same time. Naturopathy treats the body as a whole.
What are the two types of healing system?
Complementary and traditional systems of healing are widely used in the general population,
although specific forms may be more or less popular among particular ethnocultural groups.
What are the four domains of healing?
The four healing environments in the OHE framework—internal, interpersonal, behavioral,
and external—were used to further understand the findings of this literature review and
their possible influence on healing
6. Naturopathy History
For Reference (Wikipedia)
The term "naturopathy" originates from "natura" (Latin root for birth) and
"pathos" (the Greek root for suffering) to suggest "natural healing".

10. Treat the Whole Person (Tolle Totum)
Health and disease result from a complex of physical,
mental, emotional, genetic, environmental, social and
other factors. Since total health also includes spiritual
health, naturopathic physicians encourage individuals to
pursue their personal spiritual development. Naturopathic
medicine recognizes the harmonious functioning of all
aspects of the individual as being essential to health. The
multifactorial nature of health and disease requires a
personalized and comprehensive approach to diagnosis
and treatment. Naturopathic physicians treat the whole
person taking all of these factors into account.
11. Prevention (Preventare)
Naturopathic medical colleges emphasize the study of
health as well as disease. The prevention of disease and
the attainment of optimal health in patients are primary
objectives of naturopathic medicine. In practice, these
objectives are accomplished through education and the
promotion of healthy ways of living. Naturopathic
physicians assess risk factors, heredity and susceptibility
to disease, and make appropriate interventions in
partnership with their patients to prevent illness.
Naturopathic medicine asserts that one cannot be healthy
in an unhealthy environment and is committed to the
creation of a world in which humanity may thrive.
12. Hydrotherapy
Hydrotherapy is any method that uses water to treat a variety of symptoms throughout
your body. You might see it called water therapy, aquatic therapy, pool therapy or
balneotherapy. Hydrotherapy can be as simple as taking a warm bath at home, or you
might use a special tank or pool.
What does hydrotherapy do for your body?
The warmth of the water allows your muscles to relax and eases the pain in your joints,
helping you to exercise. The water supports your weight, which helps to relieve pain and
increase the range of movement in your joints. The water can be used to provide
resistance to moving your joints.
What method is used in hydrotherapy?
Hydrotherapy is a form of physical medicine using the therapeutic application of water in
a variety of ways, both internally and externally, on the body. Topical applications of cold
or hot water packs, compresses, baths, pools, steams, sweats, showers, enemas, and
colonics are all forms of hydrotherapy.
Does hydrotherapy burn fat?
Hydrotherapy assists with weight loss by: Burning more calories than land-based exercises
due to the addition of water. Increasing range of motion and muscle strength, using the
water as resistance to build muscle which then burns more calories while at rest.
13. Hydrotherapy
What are the basic principles of hydrotherapy?
Hydrotherapy is based on several important bioengineering principles that
permit the design and development of aquatic exercise devices, techniques
and programs. These principles involve several forces (buoyancy, drag,
inertia), hydrostatic pressure and the specific heat of water.
Who should use hydrotherapy?
One review found that spa therapy using warm water had a significant pain-
relieving effect in people with chronic diseases of the musculoskeletal system
and connective tissues. The warm water may ease the signals for pain, relax
the muscles, and increase blood flow, reducing pain in the area.
How many times a week should you do hydrotherapy?
In the early stages of treatment we recommend twice a week. This may
reduce to once a week or less as the response to hydrotherapy improves.
Who should not do hydrotherapy?
People with cancer, HIV and other immunodeficiencies may be advised against
aquatic therapy for this reason. 4. Open wounds ” Open woods are a
temporary aquatic therapy contraindication.
14. Acupressure
Acupressure consists of pressing the acupuncture points in an attempt to help the free
flow of energy in the channel(s). Acupressure is similar to acupuncture,
but the person uses their fingers instead of needles to work the point.
What is the most important acupressure point?
Stomach 36 is known for increasing energy, strengthening the immune system,
and improving digestion. It's one of the most commonly used acupressure points
in Chinese Medicine and is thought to increase longevity. Like with the other points,
use your hands to massage them gently as you continue to take deep breaths.
It is located on the lower
leg, about one-hand breadth
below the patella and one-finger
breadth lateral of the anterior
crest of tibia.
15. What is the philosophy of natural
health?
Naturopathic medicine recognizes and
respects the inherent self-healing ability of
the body. Identify and Treat the Cause. The
naturopathic doctor seeks to identify and
remove the underlying causes of illness,
rather than trying to eliminate or suppress
symptoms. First Do No Harm.
