3. FONTS
By the use of my fonts in my magazine pages help to create conventional
representations of the artists that I have used throughout my magazine. By
including bold and large fonts, it represents the artists as outgoing and larger
than life which are correct representations of the artists within the pop genre
and typical to artists on the magazine as they are young.
I have mainly used serif font as it shows the slight immaturity of the artists –
again highlighting they are young. The font also represents the artists to be
girly which also helps aim my magazine at the target audience.
The reason I used some serif fonts is because its in the pop genre styles as it
looks and comes across more subtly compared to sans serif font, which helps
represent the artists to be quite organised and structured.
5. COLOURS
The use of colours in my magazine help me build conventional
representations of the artists.
The main colours I have used are pink, yellow and purple.
The reason I chose pink and purple is because they’re conventional pop
genre colours as they show it to be girly and fun, therefore will represent
the artists in this way – which is also conventional as they artists are
mostly female.
The reason I chose yellow is because it contrasts with the background
and text of white, making some of the text stand out, making it look bolder
and makes the text look more outgoing which helps represent the artists
in this way. The colour yellow also represents importance – highlighting to
the audience that the artists like to be important and centre of attention.
7. IMAGES
My use of images help build up a conventional representation of the
artists.
For example, my use of my wide shot for my front cover and double page
spread help represent the artists as dominant and powerful as they are
the main focus of the page.
My images also represent the artists as friendly and warming because of
their facial expressions used throughout my magazine pages as they are
“smiling” which is conventional for an image of a pop artist to look like
and also portrays a good image of the magazine.
The images I have used also represent the artists as fun, because they
are “having fun” by their body language and by the way they are posing
for the image.
The use of the mise-en-scene in the images show them wearing dresses
and jewellery which represents the artists to be on trend and stylish, this
is a conventional representation of the artists as they are young artists
and would be familiar with the latest style – it also helps target the
audience of girls.
9. LANGUAGE
The language that I have used within my magazine pages represent the artists
clearly and effectively.
I have used abbreviated/slang words such as “OMG” this would represent the
artists as quite young as it is common for people at a young age to be using
language in this way.
The use of slang words also are used to be quite shocking, this would
represent the artists to be quite loud and bold.
The language I have used is quite informal because of the use of slang words,
however, my magazine is very informative as by the use of the article which
would represent the artists as fairly intelligent.
The language used is quite basic – so would be easy to read and understand
which would represent the artists to be considerate as they are thinking about
the audience throughout the magazine. But it would also show them to be
quite lazy as they prefer to read quite small pieces of text instead of large.
10. CONTENT
In my magazine I have included
clothing articles and clothing
advertisements. This would represent
the artists to be quite stylish and trendy
– they care about their appearance.
This is a correct representation as this
is what you expect from girls – making
my magazine conventional as it is
female populated.
