1. 1. Produce a Mindmap outlining the causes of the Cuban Missile Crisis.
2. 2. Produce a Venn Diagram showing how the USSR, the USA and Cuba are responsible for
the crisis.
3. Using your completed diagram, answer this question: “Which country is most
responsible for the Cuban Missile Crisis?”
All three of the countries are responsible for the Cuban Missile Crisis. However, I believe the
USA is more to blame than the other countries do to the extreme reactions she had to
situations. In the first place, the US placed missiles near the USSR which could easily reach her
and put her under threat. Moreover, the USA put Cuba under a rough economic situation
which was the reason for which Cuba went to the USSR for help. The USA also used the anti-
Castro Cuban exiles to attack Castro, and this led to the events at the Bay of Pigs which
increased the tension between the countries. The USAs overreaction towards the USSRs
placement of missiles in Cuba was also key to the importance of the crisis.
