17. SSWs: Student Feedback
The lecturers are actually
trying to listen to us
Chance to give feedback anonymously
in a supportive open atmosphere.
It really helped me. It has given me more
confidence to talk to the department.
The medium for feedback is great
for openly discussing topics, and
for demonstrating how so many
peers share anxieties or queries.
It addresses important issues in a low
pressure environment. The anonymity
allowed people to give serious answers but
also be humoured by funny comments.
Tea and cake. Useful to get switched back
on before lectures start next week.
Can't beat free coffee and cake!
The session was informative and
has filled me with a lot more
confidence about this year.

23. Whyarewehere?
§ Our Inclusivity Fortnight builds upon a growing concern about unequal
patterns of student attainment, belonging and engagement and a
commitment to do something about it
§ As for our entire Education Excellence initiative, working with students
and the Students’ Union as co-creators is fundamental to our approach
§ We began with the ‘inclusive curriculum’, but the discussion quickly
turned into a broader ambition: the ‘inclusive university’
§ Some solutions are obvious and short-term, others will need more time
and more thought
§ We hope bringing staff and students together will identify challenges,
opportunities and possibilities we don’t yet see
