About the Author
Fran West has been a public library manager dealing a lot with elderly
patrons. Then she had a mid life creativity, gave up her career, and decided
to fly herself around Australia’s coast, taking photos as she went. Much later
on, quite by accident, she was asked by two activities coordinators to create
some DVDs for the men in their facilities. From that small beginning she has
developed a passion (and a business) for creating products suitable for
dementia patients and aged care generally. Now there are CDs with
interactive jigsaws and quizzes, Photo Downloads, Kindle picture books and
wooden jigsaw puzzles. Her photos are also available on a variety of
products from Zazzle and CafePress.

Author’s Note
These quizzes are taken from the Words of Wisdom magazine Issues 1-5. They are meant as a bit of fun
with either multiple choice answers or true and false. The answers are underlined and in bold. If you
want to make the quiz harder for participants, then just leave out the choice of three answers where
appropriate (ideal for low care).
There are quizzes on Argentina, Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, Croatia, Denmark, England, France,
Greece, Holiday and Travel, India, Malta, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Scotland, South
Africa, South Australia, Sweden, Switzerland, Tasmania, Thailand, The Netherlands, USA, Wales and
Western Australia.
All the quizzes are in alphabetical order and easy for you to find. Most have twenty questions but not all
questions have to be asked at the one time. For high care it may be better to make several mini quizzes
out of the one quiz.
At the end of each quiz there are also several links which lead to more information and can in
turn be used as a basis for a theme day/week and to create further activities.
The photos used in the quizzes are all copyright to Fran West.
