IFPRI and USAID are discussing the potential of digital tools to support farmers in Egypt, launching a new digital app repository that aims to provide a list of agriculture digital tools meant to support smallholder farmers in Egypt.
1. This project
In this project we aim to build a digital tool that can serve dual
purpose of collecting and disseminating market information
This tool will generate powerful market data to inform marketing
policies and operations.
The tool will provide market information and marketing support
that can help to integrate smallholders in the value chains
We also aim to conduct evaluation of the tool’s potential.
These efforts will be implemented in close collaboration with the
MALR and local development partners
2. Mobile Application: Hypothetical Functionalities
• Collect raw price data from farmers: The Mobile App should
crowdsource market price and related information from farmers
• Disseminate processed and customized price information to
farmers: the mobile application should be able to disseminate market
prices from alternative sources
• Backend website to manage the mobile application: The Mobile
App should be connected to a website that enables managing and
manipulating the tool.
• Provide a more compelling, engaging and user-friendly visitor
experience
