Task 2- Middle Earth Shadow of Mordor
About the Game
Middle Earth Shadow of Mordor is an action packed Adventure RPG.
This is a game that is based around Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, but the
game is set in between the middle of these films and books. I find this game is very
smart in how the rankings of the enemies are. For example if you are killed by an
enemy they are most likely going to be promoted from a normal Uruk soldier to a
captain. Also if you then 'kill' an enemy captain they have a chance to then
respawn and have another chance at killing you. Also this game tries to show how
the AI has personality and an identity because the captains will remember how
they were killed and that could then impact on there weakness and strengths that
they have. Another way the game tries to show characters have personalities is
straight away you can feel a connection between you and Talion ( Main Character)
when him and his family are captured.
Not only does this game have a great nemesis system it also has an upgrade system
where you have to kill captains for them to drop upgrades (Runes)
Reviews have also shown how the game "immediately surprised you just by how
the game felt." and also how it is "a blast to play". This shows how straight away
people were already starting to enjoy how everything is put together by the
producers of the game. Reviews also say how the game is a lot like Assassins
Creed with the way the character acts and feels. The reviews also says how the
mechanics of combat is the same as Arkham City combat. Also when in combat
and you are further into the game you are able to unlock abilities to help you
during combat.
The ability tree is very useful for being able to kill certain Captains that could be
immune to stealth so you use the Ranger abilities to get them for ranged attacks.
Also you are able to ride caragors, this would not also just help in combat but you
are able to get around the map quicker and still able to jump around and are still
able to free run and fight while on the back of a caragor. The ability tree has five
tiers that would be more helpful along the way. For example if you get through the
game you can unlock an ability to 'brand' enemies that are able to fight for you
which is helpful when trying to beat a Warchief.

The Story
The story to Middle Earth Shadow of Mordor is quite a simple story about a
rangers garrison that is raided by uruks and his family is captured and ritually
sacrificed to try and summon an Elf Lord Celibrimor, but instead of being
summoned Celebrimor merged with the main character Talion. in front of him.
This is where he decides to take up arms in Mordor to get revenge for the murder
of his family. His objective is to find and defeat the three Black captains, which
are; the Black Hand of Sauron(the leader of the three), The Tower of Sauron, and
the Hammer of Sauron. For Talion to find these leaders he first has to understand
how the uruks hierarchy works. Then when he understands this system he has the
be able to locate the war chiefs which would lead you to the Black Captains.
Evaluate
An evaluation of the game would be that they were very risky to make this game
how they did. I think this because of the way that the nemesis system was built. I
thought if it was not built correctly the whole game may have been ruined. This is
because the whole game works around the hierarchy system so if this was incorrect
then he so would the game.
The images below show information that was taken on a survey of what people
thought of Middle Earth Shadow of Mordor. However. However, because the game
worked around the nemesis it repeated itself a lot. This is because most of the
objectives is to either find and kill a captain or War-Chief, or to either follow a trail
made by an Uruk patrol.
