7. The beginning
Baptized in honour of the ex-President of
the United States, Ronald Reagan, who
was his father’s favourite actor, he grew
up poor and playing with a soft drink can.
At the age of 9, even though he wasn’t
much athletic, Cristiano played very well
already. He was so fast that they used to
call him “abelhinha” (“little bee”).

Ronaldo joined the other young players of
Sporting Club de Portugal and managed to
become the only player to play in
Sporting’s Under-16, Under17, Under-18,
B Team and Main Team, all in only one
season. When he was 15 years old,
Ronaldo was diagnosed a heart problem,
which could have made him give up playing
football. He was operated and the problem
was solved.
12. Manchester United Football Club
Ronaldo’s early talent called the
attention of Sir Alex Ferguson,
Manchester United manager.
In 2003, when he was only 18
years old, Ronaldo signed a
contract with the English club,
which paid around 12,24 million
pounds (15 million euro's ) to
Sporting Club de Portugal.

14. Real Madrid Club de Fútbol
After much talking,
Real Madrid reached an agreement
with Manchester United to transfer
the best player in the world in 2009,
by the amount of 94 million euros.
This happened on 11th June 2009.
This way, Ronaldo became the most
expensive hiring in the history of
worldwide football so far.
On 31st March 2012, Ronaldo
reached the 133 matches with Real
Madrid’s jersey.

a friendly match against
kazaquistan (20th August 2003).
