Residents of Carmarthenshire will soon be able to access a photographic archive, which could contain
photographs of their grandparents, parents and themselves as children and adults. A team of volunteers
are sifting through tens of thousands of negatives and photographs within the archives of five professional
Carmarthenshire photographers of yesteryear. Lists of people’s names along with the town, date and
event will be published online and placed on notice boards around Carmarthenshire in an attempt to
reunite people with their long lost photographs. Stella Griffiths from the Carmarthenshire Photographic
Archive group said “This is a fantastic project, which has already generated plenty of interest. Our
volunteers are working very hard going through masses of negatives and photographs. We can put our
hands on just about any event which took place in Carmarthenshire from the 1950s to the late 1970’s as
well as family photographs dating back to the early 1900’s.” Most Carmarthenshire towns and villages
feature in the archives. There will be an exhibition featuring some of the most distinctive photographs and
film. The collection will also be passed on to the National Library of Wales Archives. Anyone wishing to
