 The track we have chosen for our music video
is classed in the Indie/acoustic genre and so
our target audience appeals to quite a wide
range of people
 The track we have chosen is ‘Heartbeats’ by
Jose Gonzalez which is quite popular on
YouTube with over 1 million hits.

Who Listens to Indie
Folk/Rock
 After doing some research of the Indie Folk/Rock genre looking
round a few websites such as Youtube and Scribd we found
out a lot about who listens to this genre and what countries it is
most popular in.
 We looked at the artist Ben Howard and he is most liked in the
United Kingdom and the Netherlands. The reason why he is
popular in the Netherlands is because he has performed there
many times and Folk/Rock is veru popular in there.
 I also artist who is similar to Jose Gonzalelez and they are
Mumford and Sons who are also popular in the Netherlands
and the United Kingdom.

Audience Demographics
 The audience for Indie Folk can appeal to anyone which is similar to all
genre’s as people have different tastes in music.
 Males who listen to Indie Folk/Rock are usually between the ages of 17
-25 and this is because this is when generally where most males turn
to music which has more meaning to it.
 We also found out from a website that men who listen to this genre
mostly shop in for clothes in places such as Topman and Urban
Outfitters.
 The Target Audience is most likely to dress in jeans, chinos and wear
vintage clothing such as V necks and patterned tops. This is common
in people who listen to this genre because it is what the artists wear
them selves in their music videos.

Audience Psychographics
 We believe that our target audience will be amongst two
psychographic categories:
 The Explorer: The Explorer is someone who is driven by a need for
discovery and we think that they would listen to his music and watch his videos
because the videos are based in rural locations and most explorers are young
and fit people.
 The Struggler: The struggler is someone who lives for today and has few
plans tomorrow and we believe that these people would listen to his music
because they are usually young people with low income and who are trying to
get by in life or at the start of there career. The reason why the people would
listen to the Indie Folk/Rock genre is because they can relate to it as much of
this music is about young love or life in general.

Social Class
 The social class that are interested in Ben
Howard are lower class because he is watched
and listed by the younger generation because
he is a new artist. HOW HAVE YOU
DEDUCED THIS??
 He would not be common amongst older
people because they are usually interested in
dated music and might not be up to date with
todays current artists. OK
